The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

66: Chapter 66 The Old Man and the Oil PaintingOn the way back to the City Name, Zhang Wei saw An Xiaoxi clutching the jadeite tightly and couldn’t help but tease, ”How about it? Was opening this blind box worth it?”

An Xiaoxi ignored him, acting like a goblin that had just seen gold coins, even casting aside her computer, which never left her side.

Zhang Wei let her be. After returning home, he lay on the bed and chatted with Sun Yicheng for a while. He learned that the gym owner was still not out of danger, and the entire gym was currently closed.

Zhang Wei wasn’t in a hurry; if the owner didn’t wake up, he could just find another gym to invest in.

After comforting her, the fatigue Zhang Wei had accumulated throughout the day took over, and he fell asleep shortly after hanging up the phone.

When he woke up again, the sun was already high in the sky. He got up and washed, only then fully waking up. Yesterday had been exhausting, what with attending the Museum ceremony and buying and cutting stones. He unconsciously touched the top of his head, wondering if he would go bald prematurely if he kept staying up late like this.

He shook his head, remembering that he hadn’t checked the Intelligence System yet, and hurriedly recited silently, ”System, activate.”

The director of the Shenghai City Instrument Factory, a Mr. Zhang, has been taken away by the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection due to a joint report filed against him. After interrogation, he confessed to his wrongdoings and has been detained. Most of his assets have been frozen, but 18 million has been deposited into an overseas account, with the account password controlled by his mistress, Wu Xiaoli. She is currently on her way to Hongqiao Airport, preparing to flee with the money. Relevant video has been sent to the Host’s phone; please check it.

Zhang Wei opened the video and saw a woman wearing a mask, hurriedly pulling a suitcase as she walked out of the residential complex.

Such a large sum of money was all ill-gotten gains from the people; he certainly couldn’t let her take it abroad to live in luxury. Zhang Wei sent the video directly to Zuo Hemei and briefly explained the general situation. Of course, he claimed the source of the video was a mysterious person who had sent it to him. Anyway, no one could trace it back to the System.

It takes at least half an hour to get from the downtown area to the airport. Now that the Criminal Police Brigade had obtained her clothing description and movement trajectory, arresting her was a sure thing.

A new second-hand trading post was listed on the Seafood Market today. The poster is preparing to sell a bundle of computer accessories, among which one hard drive contains 2 forgotten bitcoin. The poster’s nickname is ”Fighting Big Tigers on the Mountain.”

Speaking of bitcoin, Zhang Wei perked up. It was because of the matter of selling bitcoin that he had his good brother Zhu Pengfei, who was far away in Guangzhou, introduce him to a channel, which led him to meet An Xiaoxi. That happened just a month ago, but now it felt like a long time had passed.

Zhang Wei didn’t hesitate and immediately found the relevant post on the Seafood Market. The poster, named ”Fighting Big Tigers on the Mountain,” was selling a desktop computer set, which included this hard drive. Moreover, this person was also in Shenghai City.

Considering the person was only asking for 3000 yuan, Zhang Wei bought it without a second thought. He also left a message saying he needed it urgently and asked the person to immediately call a courier to deliver it.

After all, if the person had enough time to format the hard drive, it would all be for nothing.

【 daily intelligence 03 】 Ms. Wang Hongfang, who lives in Xingfu Residential Complex, is listing her property for sale. At the same time, she is preparing to sell the furniture and appliances in her home. Among them is an oil painting by a moderately famous pre-liberation French painter. There is an interlayer inside this painting, hiding an early Picasso painting. Relevant video has been sent to the Host’s phone; please check it.

Zhang Wei was stunned. Was this Picasso the same person he knew? Picasso’s name was known to everyone.

He hurriedly opened the video. He saw that inside the old apartment, a kind-looking Old Lady was sitting at the dining table eating breakfast. Hanging on the wall behind her was an oil painting of a vase with a tulip in it.

Zhang Wei knew nothing about oil paintings; it looked like an ordinary oil painting, but according to the intelligence, a Picasso work was hidden inside it?

Zhang Wei planned to visit this Old Lady after eating breakfast to see if she was willing to sell it.

Thinking of this, he prepared to call An Xiaoxi to go out with him, but when he came to the living room, he didn’t see her.

”Is she still sleeping?” Zhang Wei felt mischievous again. He tiptoed to An Xiaoxi’s bedroom door and secretly turned the lock with a key. He opened the door a crack and peeked inside.

Zhang Wei was stunned; the Little girl was lying on her side on the bed, fast asleep. She was clutching the piece of jadeite tightly against her chest.

There was no elastic buffer; didn’t it feel uncomfortable? One could only say, never underestimate a woman’s love for jewelry.

Thinking that it wouldn’t make a difference whether An Xiaoxi went or not, Zhang Wei didn’t plan to wake her up, mainly because he was afraid that if this violent woman was forcibly woken up, she would very likely pick up the jadeite and throw it at him. Just thinking about it was scary.

After leaving the residential complex, he first ate a bowl of spicy meat noodles at his usual noodle shop. In the freezing cold weather, eating a hot bowl made him feel comfortable all over. Then, he drove away.

Xingfu Residential Complex is one of the few remaining Shikumen houses in the City Name, and the buildings inside are all products from before the liberation. The small buildings had grey tiles and white walls, and the narrow alleyways were paved with gravel bricks; strolling through them gave one the illusion of traveling back to the republic of china era.

Zhang Wei found the small building according to the address, and the stairs inside were still made of wood. He went up the stairs and knocked on the door on the second floor.

After a moment, the door opened. The Old Lady from the video appeared. She was wearing a pair of reading glasses and a simple wool sweater, yet she appeared calm and elegant.

Zhang Wei stepped forward and smiled, ”Hello, Auntie. I heard from a neighbor that you are moving away. I wanted to see if you had anything you wanted to sell, so I came over to take a look.”

The Old Lady smiled kindly, ”I didn’t expect there to be young people coming to buy old goods? It’s cold outside, come in first and then we can talk.”

Zhang Wei apologized and followed the Old Lady into the house. Although the entire house was old and dilapidated, it was kept in good order. The only messy place was the desk, which was piled with many books. It was clear that the Old Lady had been reading before opening the door.

After Zhang Wei sat down, the Old Lady went to pour him a cup of tea, and only then did she say with a smile, ”Young man, I don’t have anything valuable here. There are just a few pieces of furniture and appliances left. The price doesn’t need to be much; as long as they can still be used, just take them. Anyway, after the house is sold, I will be moving into a nursing home, and I assume the next owner won’t have any use for these.”

For some reason, Zhang Wei saw a look full of reluctance in the old woman’s eyes.

After carefully considering his tone, Zhang Wei still decided to get straight to the point. He pointed to the oil painting on the wall and asked, ”Auntie, to be honest, I have taken a fancy to this oil painting. I wonder if you would be willing to sell it?”

The Old Lady was clearly stunned, looking at the painting with a dazed expression. She couldn’t take her eyes off it for a long time.
