Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 134: Chapter 134: A Little Comfort

”Huh?” Lu Yuan’s eyebrows instantly shot up. Ghost Fang! He had overlooked a crucial detail: he hadn’t lifted the mask to check Ghost Fang’s face.

The slave-trafficking organization was operated by a certain faction, a specific family in the Jade Capital, right from the start. Ghost Fang was an insider. Knowing his appearance would have provided a clue, but now... without that information, that aristocratic family had instantly faded back into the shadows. Furthermore, if anyone associated with Ghost Fang decided to seek revenge and ambush him later, he wouldn’t be able to take precautions in advance. This was a massive blunder. But given the circumstances at the time...

”I will dig them out one by one. No matter who they are, this won’t just end here,” Lu Yuan gritted his teeth. He wouldn’t spare a single person who had participated in this matter or opposed him!

”Be careful. The waters in the Jade Capital are very deep,” Yan Qing reminded him.

”I know. Thank you, Senior Brother.” Lu Yuan naturally understood.

The waters of the Jade Capital were indeed incredibly deep, harboring far too many experts. The highest concentration of experts above the Fifth Grade in the entire world was here in the capital. However, whenever a top-tier expert made a move, the winds and clouds would surge, and Primordial Qi would fiercely agitate. The commotion would be too great; it was almost impossible not to be detected by other experts. Therefore, those who acted in the dark were usually below the Fifth Grade. The Seventh Grade was the most common, while the Sixth Grade was relatively rare.

Lu Yuan was no longer afraid of Seventh Grade Martial Artists. As long as he waited a little longer for his Cultivation to break through to the Seventh Grade, he would even be able to hold his own against those in the Sixth Grade.

”Your team suffered significant casualties during this mission. Go home and rest for three days,” Qin Gang said as he walked over to Lu Yuan.

”Were you truly unaware of what was going on this time?” Lu Yuan interrogated.

”I really didn’t know!” Qin Gang looked at Lu Yuan with an earnest expression.

”You didn’t sense that something was wrong at all?” Lu Yuan pressed.

Qin Gang couldn’t answer immediately. Perhaps he had sensed a little something, but he had thought it was just a routine investigation. Who would have thought... ”I...”

”Never mind, it doesn’t matter anymore.” Lu Yuan grabbed his weapon and headed home. The incident had already occurred, so whether Qin Gang knew or not was meaningless now. From now on, he would only trust himself.

Before returning home, he made a trip to the Liu family’s villa. He still didn’t know if Liu Zhi was out of danger.

”The vitals weren’t hit. Fortunately, you used the Silver Needle to seal his acupoints, otherwise he would have bled to death...” Liu Lianyue wore a look of immense relief. She had nearly lost her younger brother.

”Will this affect his future Cultivation?” Lu Yuan asked. With his body pierced through, it was inevitable that bones and acupoints had been damaged. For a Seventh Grade Martial Artist, tempering the acupoints was of utmost importance.

Liu Lianyue’s eyes flickered. ”With some medicine to nurse him back to health, the impact shouldn’t be too significant.”

”That’s good.” Lu Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. If Liu Lianyue said there was no problem, then in all likelihood, he would be fine. The path of Pills was deeply profound, and this world possessed many miraculous Heavenly and Earthly Treasures. Moreover, once he broke through to the Seventh Grade, he could use the Celestial Weapon Sect’s secret techniques to help Liu Zhi reconstruct his foundation.

”Come find me if you need anything.”

”Are you... alright?” Liu Lianyue looked at Lu Yuan with concern. After such a tragic and fierce battle, it was impossible for Lu Yuan to remain completely unscathed.

”I’m fine. I’m just going to go back and sleep.” Lu Yuan waved his hand dismissively and left the Liu family’s villa. Knowing Liu Zhi was alright was his greatest comfort. Otherwise...

As he walked along the road, Lu Yuan slowly and completely concealed his murderous aura.

Upon arriving at home, he saw that Old Lu had mostly recovered and was lying in the courtyard, basking in the sun. Wei Huiling and Yaoyao were practicing martial arts and sparring nearby, while Old Lu provided guidance.

”Ha! Haa!”

”Take this!”

The two of them exchanged blows in a lively spar.

Yaoyao had only been practicing for about ten days, yet she had already achieved great mastery in her boxing techniques. Her petite frame was unusually agile, and she packed a considerable amount of strength, managing to trade blows evenly with Wei Huiling. This instantly ignited Wei Huiling’s fighting spirit.

”Ha! Watch my fist!” Wei Huiling erupted with power.

THUD!

Yaoyao was sent flying backward, landing right next to Lu Yuan.

”Young Master, you’re back!” Yaoyao happily looked up at Lu Yuan, her eyes curving into crescent moons.

”Mhm, you two have been practicing well,” Lu Yuan praised. He had to admit, the effect of Pills on a Martial Artist was simply tremendous. Talent? Access to Pills was also a form of talent. Different Pills yielded entirely different results.

”Why are you back at this hour?” Wei Huiling asked. It was just past noon, clearly during his regular shift. ”Worried about your father?”

”Yeah, I came back to see how Old Lu was recovering. He looks like he’s doing pretty well,” Lu Yuan nodded as he stepped forward.

”With two Seventh-Grade Pills down the hatch, how could my recovery be anything but good?” Lu Ming wore an expression of sheer heartache. The normal price for a Seventh-Grade Pill was around one thousand taels. Two pills meant two thousand taels... His injury this time had resulted in a massive financial loss.

”The Pills are nothing compared to your well-being,” Lu Yuan shook his head.

”Just hurry up and break through to the Sixth Grade, then your mother and I can finally be at ease.”

”The Sixth Grade?” Lu Ming had been about to offer a few words of praise, but he stopped abruptly. ”You think breaking through is that easy? You say it as if it’s child’s play.”

Did he not want to? Who wouldn’t want to break through to the Sixth Grade? It was just flat-out impossible for him!

”Is it that difficult?” Lu Yuan looked at Lu Ming. ”Watch out, or in a couple of years I’ll break through to the Sixth Grade while you’re still stuck at the Seventh Grade.”

”Uh...” Lu Ming felt that this possibility was actually quite high. ”Just go hang out somewhere else and stop bothering me.”

”Heh.” Chuckling, Lu Yuan went inside the house, set his weapon aside, and lay down on his bed. He originally wanted to catch some sleep, but he couldn’t doze off at all. So, he got up and went out to the courtyard to practice his boxing and temper his internal organs.

”This kid has something heavily weighing on his mind!” Lu Ming’s eyes flickered. ”Could it be that something happened at the Demon Suppression Bureau today?”

The courtyard was far too small, making it difficult for him to fully unleash his moves. Lu Yuan stepped outside, jumped into the river not far from his home, and began practicing his boxing in the water.

SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH!

Massive sprays of water violently exploded outward. The commotion was immense, echoing far into the distance, as if a vicious beast were rampaging beneath the surface. He would only surface for a breath about once every half a quarter of an hour.

”It’s the Lu family kid!”

”Lu Yuan!”

”Is this how he trains?”

The neighbors who recognized him were deep in thought. The news of Lu Yuan’s recent rapid Cultivation and leaps in martial arts prowess had long since spread, though no one knew the exact details. Now, it seemed his secret had been revealed.

Lu Yuan trained for a full hour until he was completely exhausted—during which time he did not take any Pills. Only then did he emerge from the water.

By this time, the sky was already turning dark.

”Brother Yuan!” Lin Siyao waved from the riverbank. The Ink Jade resting on her wrist was particularly eye-catching.

”What are you doing here?” Lu Yuan furrowed his brow slightly. This young girl was far too beautiful now, making her an easy target for malicious intent. Crucially, her own Cultivation was very low... Ink Jade couldn’t be fully trusted just yet, and if it were to reveal its true form, the fallout would be too enormous.

”I just missed you,” Lin Siyao acted coquettishly. Knowing Lu Yuan was home, she couldn’t bear being away from him for even a moment.

”Heh, alright.” Lu Yuan stepped forward and smilingly ruffled Lin Siyao’s hair. ”You’re growing up fast.”

”I’m already an adult, okay?” Lin Siyao tilted her head back, unconvinced.

”Not grown up enough,” Lu Yuan shook his head. She had to be at least eighteen before they could marry.

”Hmph!” Lin Siyao pouted.

”Brother-in-law, I’ve been standing here this whole time, and you didn’t even notice me?” Lin Siheng took two steps forward, his face full of dissatisfaction and disdain. This man only had eyes for women—specifically, his second sister. Weren’t men supposed to hang out with other men?

”Nope, didn’t see you.” Lu Yuan grabbed Lin Siyao’s hand. ”Let’s go, we’re heading home.”

”Mhm,” Lin Siyao nodded. The two walked hand in hand at the front.

Lin Siheng puffed out his cheeks and followed behind them. Every now and then, he would raise his fists and fiercely hammer the empty air twice, as if he were beating someone up. ”Just wait until I achieve greatness in the Martial Dao! I’ll beat you to a pulp!”
