Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Refining the Viscera

With the opportunity presented to him, Lu Yuan would not be merciful. Ambushing and attempting murder midway was a capital offense! Attacking a member of the Demon Suppression Bureau made it an even greater crime.

Lu Yuan fired a signal flare, calling people over to inspect the scene and collect the bodies. It was another bout of hassle, keeping them busy for over two hours before wrapping up.

He returned home.

”That bastard Yangg Lian truly deserved to die! To think he dared to ambush and attack you!” Lu Ming gritted his teeth, a wave of lingering fear washing over him. If Lu Yuan had still been below the Ninth Grade like before... Then again, if that were the case, Yangg Lian most likely wouldn’t have made a move anyway.

”They’re all dead, so it doesn’t matter anymore,” Lu Yuan waved his hand dismissively. ”By the way, does he have any family left?”

Lu Ming shot Lu Yuan a glance and said, ”He has a wife and a dim-witted son. His relationship with his clan is also very poor, given how he was...”

”Then there’s no problem,” Lu Yuan said, feeling relieved.

In this world, martial strength reigned supreme. Everything else was secondary. Lu Yuan wasn’t worried about the Yanyue Sect or even the Sunx Family seeking revenge by targeting his mother, Wei Huiling. That was because the Lin Family lived right next door, and his future mother-in-law, Song Yumeng, was always at home. She was an expert at the Sixth Grade Peak, at the very least...

The night passed without incident. The next day, it was time for work again.

Wage earners hated nothing more than working, especially on the first day back after a break. They would feel sluggish for at least the entire morning. Today, however, there were a few fresh topics of conversation in the cafeteria.

”There’s an auction for Profound Weapons recently. Have you heard?”

”No, what’s going on?”

”A clan surnamed Liu is auctioning off ten Profound Weapons. Rumor has it that they’re all top-tier. They’ve sent out invitations to quite a few Seventh Grade and Sixth Grade martial artists.”

”Profound Weapons? No matter how good the ones outside are, can they compare to the ones from the Demon Suppression Bureau?”

”Haha, aren’t you going a bit too far comparing them to our Demon Suppression Bureau?”

”True, that was a clueless comparison.”

”Still, I heard there’s a Golden Battle Halberd that’s incredibly impressive.”

”A Battle Halberd? I can’t believe they dare to bring that out. That’s not something an ordinary Weapon Master can forge...”

Anyone who could join the Demon Suppression Bureau either came from families or had connections with at least some Seventh Grade, or even Sixth Grade, martial artists. As such, the news of the Liu Family’s auction naturally reached their ears.

Liu Zhi kept his head down, unable to help but feel a bit awkward. It was as if he had done something shameful.

”The Liu Family? Liu Zhi, is that your family?” Han Li sat down next to him with his food tray and looked at Liu Zhi.

”Haha, yes,” Liu Zhi nodded.

”A Battle Halberd, the exclusive weapon of a War Deity! I’ve dreamed of wielding a Golden Battle Halberd and wearing Golden Battle Armor, sweeping away all obstacles...” Han Li fantasized with a look of longing.

”You can work towards it, Brother Han. Practice a Halberd Technique; there’s still hope,” Lu Yuan said, looking up. Han Li—just hearing his name suggested he was born with great strength. His bone structure was definitely above average, and his build was burly. His innate talent was absolutely not bad.

”No way! No way!” Han Li hastily shook his head. ”A Battle Halberd is only meant for absolute geniuses. Otherwise, it leaves too many openings and is practically courting death.”

While the Battle Halberd was powerful, it placed incredibly high demands on the martial artist. A Halberd Technique had to be trained to Perfection to be invincible and unstoppable. Otherwise, if opponents found a flaw, the user would be beaten miserably. Furthermore, the Battle Halberd was best suited for the battlefield, for clashing and charging in large-scale troop formations.

”You’re being modest, Brother Han,” Lu Yuan replied. He had heard a few things about Han Li. This guy’s martial potential was definitely far from simple.

”I’m not a genius like you,” Han Li retorted, rolling his eyes.

Lu Yuan said no more. He was currently an Archery Skill genius, a Sword Dao genius, and on top of that, a Weapon-Forging genius. Of course, his status as a Weapon-Forging genius hadn’t been made public yet.

The day passed uneventfully, and he got off work smoothly.

Having completed his third blood exchange, Lu Yuan officially began organ-tempering. Organ-tempering was the final step of the Eighth Grade. Once completed, his Gang Qi would reach Perfection, becoming transparent and uniform inside and out, from top to bottom. This would allow him to open his Celestial Acupoint, Introducing Essence into the Body, and reach the Seventh Grade Primordial Realm.

The importance of the internal organs went without saying; they were the core components of the human body. Only when the internal organs were strong could the body be truly powerful, capable of providing immense energy output and unlocking various potentials.

Although his previous cultivation had exercised them to some extent—such as his heart and lungs—the degree was limited. It couldn’t compare to specialized tempering. However, compared to bones and muscles, internal organs were extremely fragile. They couldn’t be tempered with forceful guidance; special methods had to be used.

This was where the previous step came into play: blood exchange! Powerful blood carried pure energy throughout the entire body, nourishing it. The primary aspect of organ-tempering was using massive amounts of vitality and blood to wash over and nourish the internal organs, making them stronger. Therefore, he just needed to continuously cycle his vitality and blood to nourish them.

Lu Yuan was a bit different. He had the Undying Martial Body, which allowed him to temper his organs to the absolute limit. He could also apply the Power of thunder and lightning to stimulate and nourish them, making them even stronger. In just one night, Lu Yuan felt his internal organs become significantly more robust, and his internal driving force grew much stronger.

”HISSS—WHOOSH—”

Lu Yuan took a deep breath and exhaled.

”SWOOSH—”

A stream of white mist shot out over ten feet away, like an arrow. When organ-tempering reached great mastery, one could directly exhale breath into a sword. Just like during his fight with Dou Kun, when Dou Kun spat out a stream of Gang Qi to shatter an arrow...

A new day arrived with no assignments.

Lu Yuan continued to cycle his vitality and blood, tempering his internal organs. Inside his body, a WHOOSHING sound echoed, like the flowing water of a river.

Next to him, Mu Lingche stared blankly. He wondered, ”Is this kid organ-tempering? So fast? He’s only done one blood exchange and he’s already organ-tempering? And then he’s going to do the second blood exchange and keep going? This method is used by many who lack elixir resources. But does Lu Yuan lack elixirs? Furthermore, after a single blood exchange, one’s vitality and blood shouldn’t be this vigorous, nor should it be this easy to cycle and control... He must be using an evil art!”

He truly felt a sense of threat. Lu Yuan’s advancement felt abnormal, and his cultivation speed was bizarrely fast. Evil arts were simply taking shortcuts, and they carried huge hidden dangers.

”Lu Yuan!” Chen Qiang appeared and called Lu Yuan away.

”What’s up?” Lu Yuan asked.

”There’s a mission tomorrow that we need your help with,” Chen Qiang said straightforwardly.

Hearing this, Lu Yuan understood immediately. It was a mission for another squad. ”Which one?”

”Jii Lin’s, my old captain’s squad. Both his personal strength and his squad’s strength are formidable. You’re basically just tagging along to pick up free Contribution Points,” Chen Qiang said with a smile.

”If it’s that easy, why do they even need me?” Lu Yuan questioned.

”Haha...” Chen Qiang looked embarrassed. ”This time, the target group involves many Eighth Grade and Ninth Grade martial artists. Mobilizing two entire squads would be a bit too flashy and unnecessary. So, they decided to transfer two experts over. One of them needs to be a top-tier archer, and that’s you.”

”Oh, I see.” Lu Yuan nodded, saying no more.

”Everyone in their squad is an expert—at least Middle Tier Eighth Grade. You might not necessarily be able to show off,” Chen Qiang teased.

”Heh.” Lu Yuan gave Chen Qiang a sideways glance. He was going to execute a mission, not show off. But he would definitely still be the most handsome one there. ”Who’s the other one?”

”Su the Ninth,” Chen Qiang shrugged. ”If they’re pulling people, they definitely want them from the same squad for better teamwork. And Su the Ninth’s strength goes without saying.”

[Congratulations to the host for completing the mission. The reward of 20 Bone Structure points and 10,000 Experience points has been credited.]
