Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Do You Really Have It?

Outside the city gates, Lu Yuan spotted Mu Lingche.

Mu Lingche had changed into luxurious clothes. He wore a jadeite crown secured with a Glazed Golden Hairpin. Sitting atop a tall white horse, he looked extraordinarily handsome and spirited. Behind him followed a guard, a carriage, and several other attendants.

When the Marquis Mansion traveled, things were never simple. These weren’t burdens; they were standard protocol.

Seeing Lu Yuan, Mu Lingche couldn’t help but freeze for a moment, his eyes flickering. He never expected to bump into Lu Yuan here of all times... especially since the latter was alone. Had Lu Yuan also taken the day off? Would Lu Yuan discover his identity? However, it wouldn’t matter much even if he did. To subordinates, there wasn’t much difference between the Grand General’s Mansion and Marquis Weiyuan’s Mansion anyway.

”Let’s go,” Mu Lingyan reminded him, lifting the carriage curtain.

”Got it.” Mu Lingche spurred his horse to catch up, and the group picked up their pace.

”Ajiu looks a bit dense,” Su Wan giggled from inside the carriage.

”Oh, hush,” Mu Lingyan spat playfully. ”I didn’t explain the details to him.”

”Oh? Then he might not appreciate your good intentions,” Su Wan said, her eyes shimmering like water.

”He’ll understand in the future.” Mu Lingyan didn’t care. She only did what was right. Time would prove everything.

He wondered, ”Are they also going hunting?” Mu Lingche soon realized that the carriage Lu Yuan was escorting was heading in the same direction as them, causing his brows to furrow even deeper.

Half an hour later, the group came to a halt.

In the distance stretched a continuous mountain range, its overlapping peaks shrouded in swirling clouds. Closer, they were surrounded by a dense, vast, and lush forest. Beneath their feet lay a grassy meadow blooming with a vibrant array of colorful wildflowers. Not far away, a winding river flowed with water so clear that fish could be seen swimming near the bottom. The scenery was as beautiful as a painting. This was the location they had chosen for today’s hunt.

”This is the spot.” Mu Lingyan stepped down from the carriage and looked around, feeling refreshed. She loved the atmosphere out here; it was far better than staying cooped up in the Marquis Mansion back in the Jade Capital.

”Lingyan, let’s have a competition later to see who catches the most prey,” Su Wan provoked playfully as she stretched her limbs. Higher cultivation didn’t necessarily equate to better hunting skills. Hunting relied on Archery Skill and a bit of luck. Therefore, she still had a small chance of winning.

”You? You’re not qualified to compete with me.” Mu Lingyan was confident, even arrogant. After all, she was a Seventh Grade Martial Artist. ”See that boy over there?” she added, pointing at Lu Yuan. ”His Archery Skill is quite good. If you can beat him, you’ll be considered unmatched below the Seventh Grade.”

”Oh?” Su Wan was surprised. Some outsider boy was going to compete with her in Archery Skill? Did her cousin really think the direct descendants of the Grand General’s Mansion were completely useless? Lingyan was underestimating her a bit too much. ”Is he really that impressive?”

”He should be better than you,” Mu Lingyan affirmed.

”Hmph!” Su Wan refused to believe it. Her Archery Skill never missed. She could hit prey from a hundred yards away and pierce two targets with a single arrow. The other party wasn’t even sixteen yet. How good could his Archery Skill possibly be?

”Lingyan, what’s going on?” Mu Lingche rode over and asked. He had originally just been called over to hunt, with the promise of being introduced to an incredibly beautiful and outstanding girl. But as it turned out... apart from their group, the only people here were Lu Yuan and a pair of siblings. Who was there to introduce? Those siblings clearly had an unusual relationship with Lu Yuan.

”It’s her. Our martial aunt’s child, Lin Siyao. She possesses the Profound Yin Body,” Mu Lingyan introduced.

”Our martial aunt? Profound Yin Body!” Mu Lingche was taken aback.

Meanwhile, Lin Siheng was practically bouncing with impatience. Holding a specially made small bow and carrying a quiver of arrows on his back, he urged, ”Lu Yuan, hurry up! Let’s go hunting together!”

”Let your sister rest for a moment,” Lu Yuan said, rolling his eyes. They had just gotten off the carriage—why was he rushing like an excited monkey? Did he think everyone had a physique as sturdy as a mountain like him? They had the whole day ahead of them.

”Then I’ll go by myself!” Lin Siheng darted off immediately. Despite his young age, as long as he didn’t encounter a Demon Beast, ordinary tigers and leopards couldn’t hurt him. Moreover, he definitely had other Magical Treasures protecting him.

”Don’t go too far!” Lu Yuan called out.

”Yeah, I know!” Lin Siheng replied as he sprinted quickly into the woods.

”Are you tired from the carriage ride?” Lu Yuan asked.

”Not at all,” Lin Siyao replied.

”Let’s stretch our legs and take a walk then.” Lu Yuan held Lin Siyao’s hand as they strolled across the meadow.

”Okay.” Lin Siyao was perfectly happy with this arrangement. She wasn’t particularly fond of hunting anyway.

The Profound Yin Body was a powerful and unique constitution with immense potential in the Martial Dao. Those who possessed it had a substantial chance of advancing to the Third Grade in the future. It was a physique that many women dreamed of and many men coveted. However, Mu Lingche’s expression darkened slightly. ”They’re childhood sweethearts, aren’t they?” He disliked the idea of stealing someone else’s love and ruining their relationship. Besides, he and Lu Yuan were colleagues in the same squad.

”Yes,” Mu Lingyan nodded. Did that really matter?

”Then why did you...” Mu Lingche was a bit angry. The two of them were mutually in love, so why was she blindly interfering? She was making him look like the bad guy by forcing him to compete for her.

”That doesn’t matter. What matters is that as long as you can be with her, both of you will have a high chance of advancing to the Third Grade in the future!” Mu Lingyan said seriously.

”I can achieve that on my own!” Mu Lingche replied, his tone confident and firm. If a Martial Artist lacked such willpower, why bother cultivating the Martial Dao? How could they ever become truly strong?

”Is that so? Do you really have it in you? How confident are you?” Mu Lingyan questioned.

Mu Lingche found it hard to answer. Less than... ten percent?

”I’m not asking you to do anything overboard. I just want the two of you to get to know each other first. A gentleman naturally courts a fair maiden,” Mu Lingyan said, her expression softening. ”How things turn out in the end will depend on you two.

”As you can see, the daughter of the Lin Family likes Lu Yuan. But I believe you’re far more outstanding than he is. You can charm Sister Lin and have her marry into our Mu Family.”

”I...” Mu Lingche glanced over at the couple. She wanted him to break them up? It just felt a bit despicable. Moreover, he had no feelings for Lin Siyao. Pursuing her purely for her Profound Yin Body was far too utilitarian.

”You’re still young. You’ll understand when you’re older,” Mu Lingyan sighed. Boys were just naive and matured late. He would understand in a few decades, but by then, it would generally be too late.

”They have such a wonderful relationship,” Su Wan remarked, watching them with a hint of envy. ”Ajiu, you might not necessarily be able to steal her away.”

”Hmph, don’t play these games with me,” Mu Lingche snorted coldly. These two women were just putting on an act together.

”Come on, let’s head over.” Mu Lingyan mounted a horse, grabbed her bow and arrows, and rode toward Lu Yuan and Lin Siyao. Su Wan and Mu Lingche followed.

”Siyao, let’s hunt together today,” Mu Lingyan said with a smile. Previously, when their martial aunt was around, Siyao would never enter the forest or hunt. She would only play and walk by the river.

”I’m staying with Brother Yuan,” Lin Siyao replied calmly.

”This is my younger brother, Lingche. He’s Lu Yuan’s colleague, and his Martial Arts are a bit more impressive than Lu Yuan’s,” Mu Lingyan introduced. ”Lingche, this is our martial aunt’s daughter. Her surname is Lin; Lin Siyao.”

”A pleasure to meet you, Sister Lin,” Mu Lingche said, cupping his hands in greeting. This girl truly possessed an extraordinary temperament. Needless to say, she was stunningly beautiful—a rarity even in the Jade Capital.

”Mhm,” Lin Siyao nodded slightly as a sign of basic courtesy.

”Lu Yuan, right? I heard your Archery Skill is pretty good. Let’s have a match,” Su Wan said, looking at Lu Yuan and issuing a challenge.
