Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Old Lu Injured, Human Weapon Reappears

SWISH—

SWISH—

Jiang Hongfei and Liu Zhi instantly sat up straight and slicked back their bangs.

”Mm, not bad, not bad.”

”I completely agree.”

”...”

Chen Qiang felt like he had just taken a massive critical hit.

”I might look average, but my sister is beautiful,” Chen Qiang said. ”If any of you manage to impress me, I’ll betroth her to you.”

”Seduction and empty promises,” Lu Yuan quickly saw through Chen Qiang’s petty scheme.

”Really? How beautiful?” Jiang Hongfei was somewhat tempted.

”More beautiful than you can imagine.” Chen Qiang proudly raised his chin.

”She must be a cousin, right?” Lu Yuan guessed.

”My biological sister!” Chen Qiang’s eyebrows shot up.

”What does this brat mean?” he wondered. ”Do I really look that average? I’m clearly a handsome guy too!”

”I don’t plan on discussing marriage before reaching Seventh Grade Peak,” Liu Zhi stated his stance.

There was no need for a Martial Artist to rush into marriage. He actually wanted to wait until after Sixth Grade, but he wasn’t sure when he would break through.

”Same here. No marriage before Fifth Grade,” Lu Yuan chimed in.

Disregarding age, the stronger one’s cultivation, the better. With his system, he didn’t need to worry about age. He would definitely reach a very, very high realm before turning twenty. By then, it would be the perfect time to marry Lin Siyao.

”Fifth Grade...” Chen Qiang gave Lu Yuan a deep look. ”You say that as if I’m desperate to marry my sister off to either of you.”

”I don’t have that many restrictions. If she’s really that pretty, I’ll take her!” Jiang Hongfei declared.

”Get lost!” Chen Qiang only offered him two words.

He thought, ”Doesn’t he look in the mirror to see what he looks like?”

”Alright, let’s eat. Let’s not talk about things that hurt our feelings,” Lu Yuan called out, picking up his chopsticks.

”Right, eat the meat!” Liu Zhi quickly went into action.

”Damn it, don’t steal my meat!”

”I had my eye on that piece!”

...

The four ate until 7 p.m. before leaving.

By now, it was dark, and the curfew had begun. The commercial district would soon be under control as well. However, this didn’t affect Lu Yuan and the others. The Demon Suppression Bureau was one of the departments in charge of the curfew, specifically responsible for monitoring Grade-Entering Martial Artists.

Lu Yuan wore his saber at his waist and carried his bow and arrows on his back as he swaggered home.

”Who’s there? Old Lu?”

Lu Yuan spotted a dark figure slumped against the front gate of his home, and the thick stench of blood immediately drifted over. Thanks to his Eagle Eye, his night vision was excellent, allowing him to instantly recognize his father, Lu Ming.

SWISH—

Lu Yuan vanished in a flash, appearing right in front of him to do a quick check.

”I’m fine. I won’t die. Don’t let your mother know,” Lu Ming weakly lifted his eyelids and instructed.

”How can I keep this from her when you look like this?” Lu Yuan examined him. There were numerous deep cuts all over his body, and even his internal organs had ruptured.

The main problem was...

”Poison! You’re poisoned!”

”Ah... poison? No wonder my head feels heavier and heavier, and my body feels so weak...” Lu Ming’s face was deathly pale.

Between his severe injuries and the poison, his senses were rapidly failing, and he was on the verge of losing consciousness.

SWISH—

Lu Yuan scooped up Old Lu with one arm and hurried into the courtyard. ”Aunt Lin, my father is poisoned! Please come help take a look!”

Song Yumeng was skilled in medicine and pill refinement, a fact well-known to the Lu family.

SWISH—

Song Yumeng moved swiftly. In a flash, she appeared in the courtyard.

”What happened?” She quickly stepped forward to examine him.

”Your father is hurt? What happened?” Wei Huiling rushed out of her room.

”It’s fine, it’s not a major issue.” Song Yumeng had already finished her rapid inspection. She took out an Antitoxic Pill and fed it directly to Lu Ming. ”Place him flat on the ground. I’m going to use acupuncture to expel the poison!”

”Okay!” Lu Yuan quickly laid Old Lu down.

SWISH SWISH SWISH—

Silver needles shot out, accurately piercing into various acupoints on Old Lu’s body. Then...

Song Yumeng raised her hand, gathered her Primordial Qi, and struck down with her palm.

BAM—

Powerful, pure Primordial Qi surged into his body, forcing out the toxins. Black, venomous blood soon began oozing from his wounds, flowing faster and faster.

SPLAT—

Before long, all the poisonous and congested blood was completely expelled. Song Yumeng took out another Pill and popped it into Lu Ming’s mouth.

”Done. He should be mostly recovered by tomorrow.”

”Thank you, Aunt Lin!” Lu Yuan expressed his sincere gratitude.

If it hadn’t been for Song Yumeng, he would have had to expend a lot more effort and time, either by going to the Liu family to find Liu Lianyue, or heading back to the Demon Suppression Bureau.

”Thank you, Sister Song!” Wei Huiling was even more tearful with gratitude.

If her husband had died, then...

”We are all family, there’s no need to be polite.” Song Yumeng smiled. ”Take him inside.”

”Mm.” Lu Yuan grabbed Old Lu’s clothes with one hand and quickly carried him into the house.

Old Lu sat cross-legged, refining the Pill and using his True Essence to heal his injuries.

For a Martial Artist—especially a High Grade Martial Artist—sleeping was the least effective way to recover. They would only do so as a last resort when they had no energy left. The fastest way to heal was to remain conscious and circulate their cultivation, allowing their internal energy to flow, repair, and nourish their physique.

Song Yumeng had fed him Seventh Grade Pills, which possessed incredibly potent effects. As a result, Old Lu’s complexion quickly regained some color, and his breathing gradually stabilized.

”Who hurt you?” Lu Yuan asked.

Old Lu’s cultivation had skyrocketed recently, and he possessed an Upper Grade Profound Weapon. Logically speaking, he wasn’t weak among those in the Seventh Grade. For someone to wound him this badly, they had to be at least at the Seventh Grade Peak, if not Sixth Grade. Or perhaps he had been besieged.

”It was Mr. Sixth from the Yanyue Sect,” Lu Ming answered.

”The Yanyue Sect!” Lu Yuan frowned.

They were fish that had slipped through the net!

”Mr. Sixth...” Lu Ming explained. ”Remember that Human-shaped Wooden Puppet we confiscated last time? It was stolen from the Government Office’s storehouse that very night, and two of our brothers were killed.

”After work today, I saw a suspicious person on the street and chased after him. I didn’t expect it to be a trap set specifically for me...

”The man called himself Mr. Sixth. He had three ingeniously designed and powerful puppets. The strongest one could even gather Primordial Qi...”

”Human Weapon—the Wood Puppet Lineage...” Lu Yuan clenched his fists.

This was clearly the Human Weapon inheritance, specifically the wooden puppet branch. And it seemed a portion of them had joined the Yanyue Sect.

”Mm,” Lu Ming nodded. He was also well aware of the Weapon-Forging method. ”You need to be careful too. They might seek revenge against the Demon Suppression Bureau.”

Members of an Evil Cult were all unreasonable lunatics. The unit Lu Yuan belonged to was precisely the one responsible for eradicating the Yanyue Sect.

”If they dare to show up, I’ll make sure they never leave!” Lu Yuan gritted his teeth.

Lu Ming looked at his son in surprise.

He was becoming more confident and domineering by the day.

”Focus on healing your wounds,” Lu Yuan said before stepping out of the room.

”Brother Yuan,” Lin Siyao stood in the courtyard, looking at him with concern. ”Is Uncle Lu alright?”

”He’s fine. With Aunt Lin stepping in, what could possibly go wrong?” Lu Yuan smiled.

”The Yanyue Sect...” Song Yumeng furrowed her brows. With her cultivation, she could clearly hear the conversation inside the room.

Lu Yuan’s heart stirred.

The Lin family had migrated from the Southwest, and the Yanyue Sect’s headquarters was also located in the Southwest.

”Do you know much about the Yanyue Sect, Aunt Lin?” he asked.

”It’s just an Evil Cult. Their strength is not weak,” Song Yumeng summarized simply. ”But to think they dare come to the Jade Capital and act so brazenly...”
