Just Engaged, the Abandoned Comeback System Arrived

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Mu Lingyan, You’ve Gone Too Far

The Wind Thunder Saber was famous!

It was too special, too powerful. Its Thunder Penetration Power was incredible, granting it immense destructive force. Crucially, even an Eighth Grade martial artist could use it.

”So you killed that Second-in-Command with a single slash?” Mu Lingche’s eyes flashed slightly as he sheathed the blade and returned it to Lu Yuan.

Although the Wind Thunder Saber was strong, killing a Seventh Grade expert in one strike...

”Two slashes,” Lu Yuan corrected him. ”He was just a heavily injured Seventh Grade. I caught him off guard with the first strike, breaking his defense. Then, I finished him with the second.”

Mu Lingche imagined the scene and admitted it was plausible. The chances were quite high. So, Lu Yuan had just gotten lucky? If the opponent had known he possessed the Wind Thunder Saber beforehand...

He quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Lu Yuan’s overall strength was still inferior to his own. There was still a gap between them. It was impossible for Lu Yuan to catch up to him!

”You killed another Seventh Grade?” Liu Zhi listened, dumbfounded.

He originally thought Lu Yuan had merely shot down several Eighth Grade martial artists and a few Ninth Grades—a feat better than last time. But to think... Was a Seventh Grade so easy to kill? Even an injured one still had a massive gap in strength compared to an Eighth Grade.

”SHH—don’t go blabbing!” Lu Yuan warned. If his trump card was exposed, how could he easily kill a Seventh Grade in the future?

Liu Zhi understood and kept his mouth shut.

Meanwhile, Mu Lingche thought about how he should also choose a suitable Profound Weapon for himself. Wasn’t it foolish not to use available resources? Training didn’t necessarily mean handicapping oneself. Just like Lu Yuan...

The dishes were served quickly, filling the table in no time. Lu Yuan, Mu Lingche, and Liu Zhi loosened their belts and feasted.

Eighth Grade martial artists, especially those who had completed Organ Refinement, possessed incredibly strong digestive systems and immense appetites. Therefore, both Lu Yuan and Mu Lingche could eat an astonishing amount. In less than half an hour, the three of them had polished off sixteen dishes.

”Serve some tea for my two brothers here,” Lu Yuan ordered.

”Serve the tea,” the Steward waved his hand. Three maids immediately came over to pour.

”I’m stepping out for a moment.” Lu Yuan left the private room and went upstairs.

Familiar with the route, he quickly arrived at the room where he had last met Mu Lingyan. The maid, Cuihe, stood at the door, glaring at him with bulging, angry eyes.

Lu Yuan was baffled. He wondered if there was something wrong with this woman’s head. Was she suffering from some internal imbalance?

”Miss, Lu Yuan is here,” Cuihe reported.

”Let him in,” Mu Lingyan’s voice drifted from inside. It remained cold and aloof, carrying a faint trace of authority.

CREAK. Cuihe opened the door.

Lu Yuan touched the saber at his waist and walked inside.

”You’ve been doing quite well lately. You can even afford to dine at Lingjiang Pavilion.” Mu Lingyan stood with her back to him, gazing out the window. Her indifferent voice echoed through the room.

”I wanted to experience what it feels like to be among the elite,” Lu Yuan replied.

”Oh? And how does it feel?” Mu Lingyan turned around to look at him.

”Aside from the food being a bit expensive, there’s nothing special about it,” Lu Yuan shrugged.

”Heh.” Mu Lingyan chuckled, shifting her gaze away. He only said that because he hadn’t truly reached the upper echelons yet. ”I heard you’ve performed outstandingly in the Demon Suppression Bureau lately. You mastered a top-tier Archery Skill, can draw a ten-weight bow, and even defeated a Peak Eighth-Grade Martial Artist in a head-on clash...”

”It was just a stroke of luck. If we fought again, I might not win,” Lu Yuan replied calmly. ”Besides, in Miss Mu’s eyes, my meager strength still amounts to nothing more than an ant. What difference does it make?”

”You...” Displeased, Mu Lingyan stared straight at him. ”I never called you an ant.”

”It doesn’t matter.” Lu Yuan waved his hand dismissively.

Did some things need to be said out loud? The attitude she expressed was more than enough!

Mu Lingyan watched Lu Yuan. She originally wanted to remind him of his place again, but she hadn’t expected him to have changed so drastically since they last met. Not only had his appearance and aura shifted, but his attitude toward her had undergone a massive transformation. What exactly had happened to him during this time?

Lu Yuan swept his gaze casually around the room, remaining silent. He wondered what Mu Lingyan’s true motive was for inviting him here today. Was she going to repeat her previous warnings, or did she have some new scheme? Then again, it was useless to try and guess the mind of a spoiled noble miss. They simply weren’t wired like normal people.

”In a few days, I plan to take Siyao out of the city for a hunting excursion. You should come along too,” Mu Lingyan said indifferently, retracting her gaze.

”Oh? What makes you suddenly want to bring me along?” Lu Yuan frowned.

This wasn’t normal! Whenever something was this out of the ordinary, there was definitely a hidden agenda!

”You don’t want to go?” Mu Lingyan countered. If she hadn’t constantly had the door slammed in her face by Lin Siyao recently, she wouldn’t even have considered bringing Lu Yuan along. ”I plan to bring my younger brother this time, so I can introduce them to each other.”

”Hm?” Lu Yuan’s brows instantly shot up, his fists clenching tight. ”Mu Lingyan, you’ve crossed the line!”

”Insolent!” Cuihe shouted angrily. How dare a lowly peasant like him call the Miss by her full name?

”Ah—” Mu Lingyan waved her hand, stopping Cuihe’s outburst and preventing her from making a fuss over nothing. ”It’s just introducing them to each other, nothing else. How is that crossing the line?”

”Lin Siyao is my fiancée!” Lu Yuan enunciated every word. Introducing one’s fiancée to another unmarried man was a blatant slap in the face.

”Can your fiancée not get to know other men?” Mu Lingyan found it laughable.

”No!” Lu Yuan looked at Mu Lingyan, his expression deadly serious. ”Mu Lingyan, I’ll only say this once. If you deliberately arrange for them to meet, then from now on, you will be my, Lu Yuan’s, enemy!”

”You’re courting death! How dare you threaten the Miss...” Cuihe charged right in, clutching a dagger, her eyes fixed on Lu Yuan like a venomous snake.

”Courting death?” Lu Yuan violently snapped his head around, roaring at Cuihe. ”I think you’re the one fucking courting death!”

”You... Die!” Cuihe’s gaze hardened, her astral energy condensing.

”Cuihe!” Mu Lingyan spoke up, shouting her down.

She looked at Lu Yuan and smiled. ”You are indeed acting a bit insolent. Do you think I care if you treat me as an enemy? Do you think you are even qualified to be my enemy?

”You don’t actually believe that just because you’ve made a little progress recently, you can stand as an equal and compete with me, do you? You don’t want Siyao to meet my brother, so I will insist on making them meet. As long as it pleases me, that’s all that matters!

”I’ll give you a choice right now. Would you rather have them meet while you’re present, or have them meet behind your back without you knowing?”

”Mu Lingyan!” Lu Yuan stared dead at her for a long time. He took a deep breath. ”Good, very good! Make the arrangements. I’ll definitely be there!”

”Heh, that’s more like it.” Mu Lingyan smiled in delight. This was exactly the reaction she wanted, exactly how things should be! ”See our guest out!”

”Miss...” Cuihe was indignant. Were they really just going to let this audacious lunatic off the hook—the one who dared to call the Miss by her full name and openly declare himself her enemy?

”Hm?” Mu Lingyan furrowed her brow.

”Yes, Miss!” Cuihe went to open the door.

”Your name is Cuihe, right?” Lu Yuan looked at the maid as he walked to the door.

”What of it?” Cuihe raised an eyebrow. ”Anyone daring enough to disrespect the Miss will not meet a good end!”
