Chapter 1548: Royal Decree

”What’s going on?”

The people were gathering at the Demon Banner Army’s headquarters, not just the soldiers but also the citizens.

They were all confused as to what this summon was all about.

”I don’t know. It’s rare for the Demon Banner Army to do something big, to the point where they even posted an announcement.”

”But judging that platform... don’t you think it will be an execution or something?”

One person was pointing at the platform. The platform itself wasn’t tall, but it was enough for people to see. And there were two people standing on the platform. The first one was the Demon Extermination Squad Captain Shale, and the other was the Demon Defense Squad Captain Squart.

It was rare for them to be seen together. In fact, a lot of other captains were seen in the vicinity.

The gate was opened, the creaking sound grabbing people’s attention.

Four people were coming out. The first one was definitely Oscar. As the commander of the Demon Banner Army, he would definitely show up for this kind of important matter.

People would usually cheer for him, but this time, no one could open their mouths.

After all, they were horrified by the appearance of the second person. That person was none other than Josephine.

The Space Arbiter Josephine was well known in the kingdom due to her unique ability. And they never thought they would see her getting dragged.

Her hands were cuffed and her eyes seemed to be losing their light. The one dragging the chain attached to her cuff was the Demon Adjudicator Squad Captain Milfa.

Her appearance was not well known, but people knew that the Demon Adjudicator Squad was the squad that handled the laws and rules within the Demon Banner Army. It would be weird if she weren’t here.

Fortunately, she had returned.

Most people couldn’t see it, but all the captains or anyone above the grandmaster could definitely see her true strength.

A spirit transcendence. No one expected that the Demon Banner Army had another spirit transcendence besides Oscar.

But Milfa had no intention of becoming the next commander despite being around Oscar so much.

Oscar also knew that fact and picked Shale as his successor, letting Milfa remain in the shadows.

Even so, this was a good thing to show, ensuring people that the Demon Banner Army had the power to protect the people.

The last person who accompanied them was none other than the Demon Relief Squad Captain Clara. She became a symbol of the joint operation with the Ardagan family.

Besides, Clara was supposed to be in the top 5 in the Demon Banner Army. Because Igor retired, she was fourth in rank, only below Milfa, Shale, and Squart.

Hence, it was understandable that she was picked as one of the four people escorting Josephine.

Of course, Anna, Josephine’s former disciple, was attending this execution from a distance. Josephine was how it all started, and she wanted to see how it would end.

Once they climbed the platform, Milfa forced Josephine to kneel. Squart kept an eye on people so that no one would rescue her, while Shale readied his blade.

Oscar straightened his back and announced out loud. ”This is the Space Arbiter Josephine. She-”

Before he could start, a voice suddenly interrupted him.

”Wait a moment.”

The people turned around to see who actually dared to stop Oscar. And it turned out to be the marshal of the kingdom, Conrad.

”What is the kingdom’s marshal doing here? Are you trying to take this traitor back?” Oscar squinted his eyes.

Conrad calmly took out the scroll and opened it for everyone to see. ”This is the decree from Her Majesty Wendy Ve Lenveth.”

When they heard Conrad mention ’Decree,’ the people hurriedly kneeled, except for the people on the platform. They couldn’t afford to make any mistakes and let Josephine go, even if it meant disobeying the royal decree.

Conrad understood this as well and immediately continued, ”Josephine Brown, the Space Arbiter, had aided the current host of the demon king while fully aware of his identity. She had also become a part of the notorious criminal organization, the Supreme Devil Organization.

”She had slaughtered innocent people and threatened national security. As such, she will be stripped of all her titles and power and be executed.

”I shall entrust the execution to the Demon Banner Army, the guardian of the kingdom.”

”!!!” The people were stupefied after hearing the royal decree.

The royal family should have known this from the beginning, but why did they never do anything to her?

Did they want to avoid the fact of smearing their reputation?

No, it all changed when the throne changed its owner. Unlike the former king, the current queen was doing her best for the kingdom and its safety. She even declared the third prince as a rebel and the host of the demon king.

It could be said that Wendy brought the concept that their enemy is the demon. And that was a change everyone could feel immediately.

And this royal decree just confirmed the rumor.

Not only did she acknowledge all Josephine’s sins, but she also acknowledged the Demon Banner Army’s contribution in capturing Josephine by entrusting them with the execution.

This was enough to show that the current royal family was different. They might have to endure some backlash, but the trust that had been broken in the past was gradually mended.

Even Anna was impressed. It was no wonder Noel chose Wendy.

Conrad closed the scroll and said, ”I shall express my gratitude to the Demon Banner Army for their efforts. Allow me to witness the execution so that I am able to bring the good news to Her Majesty, Commander Oscar.”

”!!!” Oscar’s body shook. He paused for a moment before nodding his head. ”You may, Marshal Conrad. Please show our VIP the seat he deserved.”

The people had accepted the power balance between the kingdom and the Demon Banner Army. But there was someone who couldn’t accept what happened.

It was Josephine.
