System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1542: Wild Card

”Huu…” Noel took a deep breath.

”It looks like you have used all your cards. Even though the war has reached a stalemate, it looks like you wonʼt last longer.” The sky demon king squinted his eyes, knowing that Noel would fall sooner or later.

Noel didnʼt say anything, but looking at the situation around, the situation was rather obvious.

He had to face the sky demon king, Anna had to face the land demon king, and Rui had to fight the supreme devil.

There wouldnʼt be any change from this point onward, due to the fact that all six of them were above mere transcendence.

On the other hand, Conrad and Incetta had to face their respective opponents. At this rate, the situation would become worse for Noel. There was only so much time for them because of Noelʼs condition, but for some reason, Noel still hadnʼt given up.

The sky demon king could still see that Noel was still waiting for something else. It was as if he had another trick up his sleeve.

That was what the sky demon king had been trying to find by continuously provoking him, but to no avail.

All of a sudden, a voice echoed from the ground.

”Earth, heed my call. Arise!”

Suddenly, a massive spike from the ground emerged and headed straight for the supreme devil.

”!!!” The supreme devil was slightly surprised and tried to avoid it, but he ended up leaving a gap for Rui.

”Kh.” The supreme devil gritted his teeth as Rui landed a punch before he realized it. Instead of the spike, he got hit by something even harder, causing his body to get blown away.

He crashed into multiple trees before stopping a hundred meters away.

Rui couldnʼt help but turn around, realizing that the person that appeared was actually another spirit transcendence. ”Who are you?”

”It looks like you are the helper that Noel Ardagan brought. I wish to ask you to let me handle him.”

”You are not strong enough to fight him.” Rui frowned. She noticed that Oscarʼs strength might be stronger than hers, but that was only without the divine headband. Oscar hadnʼt found his king path, so there was no way he could defeat the supreme devil.

”I know, but if itʼs just buying time, I can do it. Besides, I believe itʼs more beneficial for you to take care of other matters. I have a business with this guy.”

”...” Rui was clueless, but Oscar didnʼt care. He ignored her reaction and turned to the supreme devil.

”How pathetic…” Oscar squinted his eyes.

”Pathetic? Me?” The supreme devil squinted his eyes before raising back up. ”Do you think a small person like you can stop me? Oscar, you are overestimating yourself.”

”Iʼm not talking about you. Iʼm talking about the body you stole. Others might not be able to realize it because of your disguise, but no matter how much you hide it, I know that figure. Thatʼs the person I admire the most and my mentor, the former commander of the Demon Banner Army, Terlen.

”Now I know the reason he passed down his position to me so early. You loser took over his body.” Oscar felt disgusted.

He had never thought that even the former commander of the Demon Banner Army succumbed to this trick.

It reminded him of Old Ru, whom Noel snatched from the Tower Association. He couldnʼt help but feel furious to see his mentorʼs body getting tarnished like this.

”Hah.” The supreme devil sneered. ”You…”

Before he could say anything, Oscar commanded, ”Sky, obey my command. Fall!”

”!!!” The supreme devil felt a surge of energy coming from above him. He raised his left arm as the energy fell upon him.

It was so heavy that it felt like the sky itself had fallen upon him. The ground started to crack and shatter, turning into a massive crater.

”Trees, capture him!” Oscar gave another command.

Suddenly, the branches and roots of the trees around him extended toward him.

”So, thatʼs the Authority of Speech I have heard about. The power that can command even the elements.” The supreme devil waved his sword, slashing all the trees around him. The sword strike continued flying toward Oscar.

Oscar gathered his breath before screaming. ”Aaaahhh!”

His scream turned into a roar, producing a powerful shock wave toward the slash. The sword hit the shock wave and sliced through it. ”Do you think thatʼs enough to stop my power? You are just a mere transcendent who doesnʼt even know his king path.”

”Yes, but Iʼm also the commander of the Demon Banner Army. Sword, disperse!” Oscar gave another command, which caused the energy within the sword to disperse. He actually weakened the slash a bit before controlling it.

But this way, he should be able to fight the supreme devil.

After seeing the effectiveness of Oscarʼs power, Rui knew that this was her chance. So, she leaped toward the land demon king.

The land demon king swung his sword at her, but her punch managed to contain the sword power just fine.

”Leave this guy to me, my lady. He needs you.”

”!!!” Anna was surprised, but Rui was right. There was another place she needed to be.

Noel and the sky demon king clashed their power again. Their strength might be equal, but it looked like Noel was having a hard time as his injury continued to worsen. Noel needed someone who could tip the balance. It was the land demon kingʼs role previously, but it is hers now.

”Lightning Dragon!” Anna sent forth a thunderbolt that turned into a dragon, forcing the sky demon king to fly back.

Anna landed next to Noel. ”Are you alright? It looks like you have been planning to use Oscar as your wild card…”

”Yeah. The development truly surprised me, but I guess itʼs good to have you with me now.” Noel smiled.

”Then, shall we defeat him?” Anna smiled back.

Noel muttered, ”Ardagan. Change my medal.”

[I shall offer you a better option, Master.]

[Forcefully integrated the new heart.]

[I will probably go into slumber after this battle, but this is what you need right now.]

[Integration complete.]

[New Job Unlocked: Commander.]

[New Mission.]

[Medal Slot +1]

Noel noticed the last notification.

[Name: Noel Ardagan]

[Medal: One With the Sword Medal, Transcendent Medal, Blessing Medal, None.]

As if knowing what Noel wanted, Ardagan inserted that very medal right away.

[Name: Noel Ardagan]

[Medal: One With the Sword Medal, Transcendent Medal, Blessing Medal, Wife Medal.]

Wife Medal: While fighting together with your wife, the userʼs spiritual energy increases by 15%, the userʼs strength and speed increase by 10%, and the pain tolerance increases by 20%.

”!!!” Noel could feel the surge of strength from Ardagan. Instead of changing the medal, Ardagan actually took a much more forceful step to make the system complete. In other words, the current Ardagan was the same form he had when Milinda Ardagan wielded him, not when Alexander Ardagan wielded him.

Even the sky demon king and Anna noticed the surge of power from Noel. Something happened to him. For the demon king, it was a threat he couldnʼt ignore. For Anna, she only knew that it was a good thing for them.

Noel pointed his sword forward before saying, ”Shall we fight together, my wife?”

Anna was surprised, but she was also excited. She also did the same thing by his side. ”Shall we, my dear?”
