Global Lords: Me and My Calabash Kiddos

Chapter 63: Chapter 56: Locust Plague

”What’s the matter?” Yi Tian asked.

”Big Brother, I have a batch of Human Race slaves on hand. Could you take them in?” The Great Emperor requested of Yi Tian.

”How many? What level are they?”

Yi Tian vaguely guessed the Great Emperor’s intention.

The Great Emperor was a shrewd man. Apparently, their region had already gone through locust devastation.

After enduring the outbreaks of Fish-eating Storks and locusts, the Great Emperor had already figured out that the Celestial Dao Rules wanted to restrict the Lords’ food sources.

The disasters of the Fish-eating Stork and the locusts weren’t the end, but just the beginning.

The Great Emperor had raised a large number of people under him, aiming to truly be a Great Emperor. But the daily consumption was huge, and now he wanted to sell off a batch.

When there’s really a shortage of food, the natives bound by contract at least can withstand hunger. But those not bound—if they go mad with hunger—they might just rebel en masse.

Each Lord’s Lord Contract is limited. Most Lords only have a few Lords’ Contracts at hand.

Moreover, any Lord with a bit of foresight would keep a few as backups, to contract even stronger people.

”All are C-level, seventy Humans. Same as the ones I sold you before; they’re from a tribe called Cloud Division.” The Great Emperor replied to Yi Tian.

From start to finish, the only tribe that attacked the Great Emperor’s was Cloud Division.

Now the Great Emperor had over a hundred slaves. He felt that was too many and had to offload some.

Selling to the auction house wouldn’t be as good as selling to Yi Tian, to earn some favor.

And now it’s very hard to sell slaves at the auction house.

The Great Emperor thought, once food supplies are sufficient again, he could buy back a new batch, never taking a loss!

Among the prisoners from last time, including the seriously wounded, there were close to eight hundred, but Yi Tian had sold them all.

So now, Yi Tian’s territory, including Gu Qianqiu, had a total of exactly fifty people.

Yi Tian had plans for 15,000 mu of farmland and was indeed short on manpower.

Fifteen thousand mu sounds like a lot. With a little over a hundred people, each would just have to tend a bit more than 100 mu.

With superhuman physiques, one person could take care of over 100 mu without much trouble.

Yi Tian’s resources could easily feed a hundred people.

”Great Emperor, no B-levels?” Yi Tian inquired.

The Great Emperor had already broken through to A-level; capturing a few B-levels wasn’t difficult for him.

”Caught two during the end-of-month assessment. But I’ve already contracted both and can’t trade them.” The Great Emperor replied.

The Great Emperor had just reached A-level. B-levels were his trusted aides, so naturally he secured them under contract.

Ordinary C-levels really weren’t qualified to be contracted.

”How much do you want to sell them to me for?” Yi Tian nodded discreetly, deciding to take all seventy of them.

”At the Slave Market, C-level slave prices have dropped to eighty thousand to a hundred and fifty thousand. In this batch of C-level warriors, the lowest among their three-dimensional stats all have one over three hundred, and ten of them have all three stats over four hundred. Big Brother, altogether seven million. How about it?” The Great Emperor negotiated.

”Deal! It’s too late today, let’s make the transaction at eight-thirty tomorrow morning, sharp.”

Yi Tian did a quick calculation and realized it was a bit cheaper than at the auction house.

It happened to be a good time to give the Great Emperor some funds to collect Elemental Warrior Design Maps and Element Cores.

At this time, slaves were extremely cheap—a single Divine Weapon could buy quite a few slaves of the same grade.

”Alright, Big Brother, good night!”

The conversation ended.

The fifth day.

After wrapping up Body Refining and Qi Refining, Yi Tian’s physique, strength, and spiritual power each rose by one point. (ps: The author is keeping detailed notes in a notebook about all kinds of things like Celestial Dao Coins, Gold, Territory Points, Spirit Fruit, Water of Life, etc. Stats won’t be listed Chapter by Chapter anymore. When Yi Tian returned to the villa, Liyue was harvesting Spirit Flower morning dew in the flowerbeds. Yi Tian didn’t disturb her.

Yi Tian picked a leaf of Enlightenment Tea from the backyard, brewed it in a porcelain cup, and carried the tea back to the martial training grounds.

After steeping for a few minutes, a pleasing fragrance from the Enlightenment Tea wafted through the air.

Yi Tian opened the tea lid, finding the Enlightenment Tea leaf had dimmed, losing its spiritual qi.

Now, all the spiritual qi was infused into this cup of tea.

Yi Tian was about to train, so after tasting it briefly, he downed it in one gulp.

Refreshing to the core!

Yi Tian had no time to savor the flavor before he felt himself merging into heaven and earth.

The body and the sky as one, the sky and the Dao as one.

His mind was unusually clear, without distracting thoughts. Pure spiritual power circulated within him.

It seemed that there was a special Dao Rhyme surrounding him; every glance at the heavens, every glance at the earth, was like having sudden clarity and total enlightenment.

Standing atop the Martial Arts Arena, Yi Tian didn’t strike out immediately but instead closed his eyes to contemplate the inner circulation route for Celestial Ice Palm.

Why strike? What is the Mystical Technique within?

”Celestial Ice Palm!”

A quarter hour later, Yi Tian’s Unity of Heaven and Man state was about to end. He struck out with his left hand, condensing an Ice Soul in his palm, sending forth a palm-shaped shadow.

The next instant, Yi Tian’s right hand struck, sending out another palm shadow.

One palm after another, incredibly fluid.

Compared to two days ago, Yi Tian’s control over Celestial Ice Palm had improved by several levels.

After dozens of consecutive strikes, although Yi Tian’s spiritual power was sufficient, he was at the end of his rope.

This was a sign of not yet reaching the right level of mastery.

After twenty minutes of Unity of Heaven and Man, time passed. Yi Tian returned to reality.

Yi Tian felt that his Celestial Ice Palm had strengthened tremendously, and with a few more days’ practice, he could achieve Minor Achievement.

In the future, attaining the status of Grandmaster was not impossible.

By Yi Tian’s estimation, every advancement in Celestial Ice Palm increased its power by 20%.

Reaching Grandmaster would mean a total increase of 100%. Even more powerful than SSS Talent, since most SSS Talents have time constraints, while strength does not!

”Looks like, innate gifts aren’t always necessarily superior,” Yi Tian muttered to himself.

...

In the morning, after eating breakfast made by Liyue and Qixin, Little Kiddo called it unappetizing; Yi Tian felt it was just okay, but as long as it was edible, that was enough for him. He never cared much about gourmet preferences.
