Global Lords: Me and My Calabash Kiddos

Chapter 52: Chapter 47: Summer Begins, Fish-eating Stork_2

The last attacker with such a clear purpose was the Spring Beast.

From the fish-eating stork, Yi Tian saw patterns similar to the Spring Beast.

”I was in the territory the whole time. It just appeared out of nowhere. I thought it would attack me. Who knew it was just here to eat fish.” The male elf was also baffled.

”Splash.”

A column of water shot skyward as a fish-eating stork burst out of the lake first.

”Whoosh...”

Yi Tian drew his bow and nocked an arrow. The Dragon Bow was only pulled halfway, but the alloy steel arrow zipped across.

”Gaa...”

The fish-eating stork let out a shrill cry and fell into the lake.

At that moment, two more fish-eating storks surged out together. Feeling their companion attacked, they roared angrily, opening their broad mouths and lunging for Yi Tian.

”Whoosh...”

With Level 2 Archery Mastery and stats far superior to the fish-eating stork, these storks were no match for Yi Tian. He drew and released, dropping one, while the last stork closed in to within a hundred meters.

For a fish-eating stork, a hundred meters was a blink—instantaneous.

Yi Tian didn’t change weapons. His expression stayed calm as he drew and nocked another arrow.

When the stork was only ten meters away, Yi Tian loosed the shot.

”Gaa!”

The arrow pierced the stork’s neck. Now only three meters from Yi Tian, it went down choking with regret.

Beside him, the male elf’s face, already pale, turned whiter still, nearly bolting in fright. The honor of the Light Elves drove him to stand his ground like a true warrior.

”Congratulations Lord, Archery Mastery +1, current Archery Mastery: Level 3.”

This mission actually hid an unexpected bonus.

”Mission accomplished. See you around!” Yi Tian greeted the male elf and teleported back to his territory.

”Detected: This mission was C-level. Lord accepted 8 missions, completed 8 missions, success rate 100%.”

”Mission complete. Reward: Celestial Dao Coin x10,000.”

Yi Tian opened the mercenary page. Currently, there were tens of thousands of active mercenaries.

Yi Tian noticed an S-level mercenary, two missions attempted, success rate 50%.

Yi Tian was startled. Even S-levels could fail—are they rebelling against the system?

Besides that, Yi Tian saw plenty of mercenaries whose success rate was no longer 100%.

That was a warning for Yi Tian: know your limits—don’t get careless!

Soon after returning, Yi Tian got another order. Again, fish-eating storks—D-level.

Yi Tian realized the month’s trial had started at last.

Earlier, the Celestial Dao Stone had said the first month is a newbie protection period, meaning this month would be unusually tough.

But with everyone’s material abundance, Yi Tian couldn’t see where the difficulty was.

The arrival of the fish-eating storks seemed to restrict the aquatic resources Lords all had.

This mission was simple: only two D-level fish-eating storks, which Yi Tian took down easily.

After this mission, Yi Tian spent all afternoon and into the night completing missions nonstop.

In total, another 41 missions accomplished. Bringing his total missions accepted to 50.

Celestial Dao Coin earned: 410,000.

Balance in Celestial Dao Coin: 13,019,000.

With the Dragon Bow, Yi Tian held massive advantage against these storks—a few arrows settled it every time.

Yi Tian checked up on his peers and found that many had failed missions throughout the afternoon.

Yi Tian: 50 missions, 100% completion rate, standing out from the crowd—even though he was just a C-level mercenary.

At night, the storks stopped appearing, so Yi Tian stopped taking missions.

At the same time, Yi Tian told Gu Qianqiu and the others to defend their territory well. If a fish-eating stork was spotted, summon Elemental Warriors immediately.

District-wide and sub-district chats stayed harmonious; no one knew many regions were under fish-eating stork attacks.

Of the districts attacked by storks, 99.999% of territories had their aquatic resources ravaged. The storks were insatiable, not sparing even fry and baby shrimp.

Some Lords even died trying to fight them.

Only a few managed to kill the storks or hired mercenaries to help.

Most chose to lie low. With the Celestial Dao Stone analyzing stork attributes, there weren’t many bold enough to fight.

Yi Tian also relayed news of the storks to the 66th district, urging everyone to watch the timing, and if necessary, fish ahead and salt the catch.

There were many skeptics—believe it or not, up to them!

After a month in the Celestial Dao World, Yi Tian had already seen the essence of this place.

This is a path of power, not a survival game. If a Lord is forever struggling to survive, he’s already lagging behind.

Mercenaries are also a path to strength. You can tell just from the King of Mercenaries’ rewards.

”Big brother, I’ve gathered enough SS-level Glazed Holy Fruit Elemental Warrior Design Maps and Element Cores. Can you let me have the Glazed Holy Fruit first?” At eleven at night, the Great Emperor messaged Yi Tian after connecting.

Great Emperor was strapped for funds now—he couldn’t afford the Five Elements Sacred Fruit, so he settled for the Glazed Holy Fruit.

”Sure!” Yi Tian nodded. When the auction results came out, Yi Tian knew Great Emperor wouldn’t be able to scrape enough together quickly.

”[Elemental Warrior Design Map x24][Element Core x20]trade for[Glazed Holy Fruit x1].” Great Emperor sent the trade info.

Yi Tian had promised Great Emperor a 20% discount; this was about right.

Yi Tian valued Great Emperor’s connections greatly. Even though GE was profit-minded, he still knew restraint.

His cultivation didn’t compare to Purple Phoenix Moon Dance, but his social skills and ability to make money left her far behind.

Still, even while trading, Yi Tian stayed sharp and guarded with Great Emperor.

Their relationship could be summed up as mutual leverage.

Great Emperor needed Yi Tian’s resources, Yi Tian needed GE’s contacts and intelligence.

”Don’t worry. I’ll save you a Five Elements Sacred Fruit as promised, at the same discount.” As a link to the high-level regions, Yi Tian promised GE solemnly.

”With your word, big brother, I’m at ease.” Great Emperor replied relieved.

Once the deal closed, Yi Tian had a total of forty-four Elemental Warrior Design Maps now.

Yi Tian wasn’t sleepy anymore. He came down to the Warrior Pavilion, ready to craft all his warriors.

After sweeping up supplies at the auction, Yi Tian opened the Level 4 Weapon Platform and got to work on the Elemental Warriors.

He laid out each Design Map on the platform.

By spending resources, he transformed them into warriors, each a different color.

Yi Tian spent a full 70.4 million and produced forty-four Elemental Warriors.

Don’t judge these Elemental Warriors by their current B-level—after training in the Warrior Pavilion, even A or S-level is not out of reach.

Yi Tian was raising elite warriors. They were his trusted hands now, and would be in future, too.

”Detected 44 new B-level powerhouses in territory, Territory Points +8,800.”

Current Territory Points: 223,450.

Current Celestial Dao Coin balance: 59,790,000.

Element Cores: 97 pieces.

”At your service, Lord!” The Elemental Warriors dropped to one knee.

”Good! Go to your respective zones inside the Warrior Pavilion!” Yi Tian ordered the warriors.

Total Elemental Warriors: eighty. At this rate, Spiritual Power rises by 150 a month—much faster than the Calabash Sisters.

Day three: From dawn until two in the afternoon, Yi Tian accepted employer missions nonstop.

D-level, C-level—no pauses at all.

Armed with a broken-logic weapon and Level 3 Archery Mastery, Yi Tian was the bane of fish-eating storks.

If it was just a few storks, Yi Tian had nothing to fear whatsoever.

Some Lords had poorly developed territories, only attracting a single stork. For Yi Tian, that was as good as free coins and victories.

Altogether, seventy more missions completed, earning 700,000 Celestial Dao Coin.

Total missions accepted: 120.

At two in the afternoon, Yi Tian noticed fish-eating storks appearing in the district, so he decisively switched mercenary status.

Rest!

He knew the storks were attacking as a whole region event.

Yi Tian dispatched the fire-breathing Sister and twenty Elemental Warriors to guard Lake Two.

Sixty Elemental Warriors and the rest to defend Lake One.

Lake Two only had baby fish and shrimp.

Yi Tian rarely ate fish, so Lake One had mostly big fish.

Yi Tian might not eat fish, but that didn’t mean the storks could run wild.

Fish were a resource reserve too—if a disaster came, they could save lives.
