Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 399: Chapter 369: Skeletons

Li Qian’s gaze was sharp as he stared at the rift, wanting to see what kind of horror would emerge.

CRACKLE CRACKLE CRACKLE...

Soon, accompanied by the dense, spine-chilling sound of grinding bones, countless skeletons crawled out of the fissure and into Li Qian’s line of sight.

”White Bone Skeletons, Undead Skeletons, Skeleton Soldiers, Skull Generals, Skeleton Axe and Blade Warriors...” Li Qian’s eyes went wide, and he couldn’t stop himself from cursing. ”Holy shit, did you guys kick a skeleton nest?!”

”Stop talking and let’s go! Your Sunbird is strong against them, so it should be easier for you,” Lu Tianjiao said, his face etched with anxiety.

Zhou Yuanhao, Bai Bingbing, and Zhao Liuli were already locked in battle with the Skeleton Legion.

Li Qian took one look, then shouted without hesitation, ”All of you, back off! Leave this to me!”

It wasn’t that Li Qian was being arrogant. Faced with this endless Skeleton Legion, he had no choice but to order Chicken Hair to use a large-scale destructive Skill.

If Lu Tianjiao and the others didn’t retreat, they would likely get caught in the crossfire when he used a Skill like that.

Lu Tianjiao guessed Li Qian’s plan and darted out of the battlefield first, without the slightest hesitation.

Seeing Lu Tianjiao retreat, Bai Bingbing, Zhou Yuanhao, and Zhao Liuli immediately followed suit.

”Chicken Hair, use the Sun Rain Skill!” Seeing that everyone had cleared the area, Li Qian immediately issued the command to Chicken Hair via Telepathy.

Receiving the command, Chicken Hair flew into the air and transformed into a small sun, its blazing light so blinding that it was hard to keep one’s eyes open.

From within the light, head-sized orbs of light rained down one after another.

The orbs weren’t large, but they packed a punch. SIZZLE! Each impact inflicted fatal damage upon the Skeleton Legion.

Bones shattered, bodies melted, heads exploded... Skeletons fell one after another. The lucky ones struggled for a moment; the unlucky ones dropped dead on the spot.

The dense barrage of light orbs rained down, clearing a huge area near the rift in a short amount of time, leaving nothing standing.

Bai Bingbing and the other two were stunned by the scene. They had experienced firsthand just how tenacious these skeletons were.

It was an experience they didn’t want to recall, but the scene unfolding before them was beyond their comprehension.

Entire swathes of skeletons were being reaped like wheat by Li Qian’s Sunbird, offering almost no resistance.

”As expected of a rare Pet Beast with Tier Eight Emperor Potential. Damn, I have to get one under contract,” Lu Tianjiao said, his eyes gleaming with desire.

”It’s certainly surprising,” Zhao Liuli’s eyes were also filled with envy. ”But unfortunately, my Beast Taming Talent isn’t related to the Light Element.”

”Same here. This Pet Beast looks awesome, but it’s not for me,” Zhou Yuanhao said with a hint of regret.

Even Bai Bingbing, whose Talents had nothing to do with the Light or Fire Elements, couldn’t help but stare, her heart stirred by the sight.

Watching Chicken Hair wipe out a huge swath of skeletons with a single Sun Rain Skill, Li Qian’s expression remained unchanged.

He spoke up to warn them, ”Don’t celebrate too soon. This Skill is powerful, but it also consumes a lot of energy. My Pet Beast can’t use it many times.”

”If skeletons keep pouring out of that fissure endlessly, even another Sunbird would be just a drop in the ocean.”

Li Qian remained rational, not letting their current success blind him.

He knew full well that the main reason for Chicken Hair’s overwhelming performance was its elemental advantage over the skeletons.

Furthermore, because this wide-range destructive Skill was only at the Entry Level, its energy consumption was high, and its true power wasn’t even fully unleashed.

If he could raise it to the Skilled Level, the situation would be much better, but it was obviously too late for that now.

”Qizai, Xiaoliu, you two go help as well.” Seeing that the situation had stabilized for the moment, Li Qian immediately gave the order.

At the same time, Bai Bingbing and the other two also ordered their own Pet Beasts into the fray. Because the fissure restricted how many skeletons could emerge at once, their pets managed to establish a temporary stalemate.

Seizing the opportunity, Li Qian immediately asked, ”What in the world happened? Wasn’t this a trial ground set aside for you by the tournament committee? Why are there so many skeletons?”

”We don’t know either. At first, everything was normal. We made our way through with hardly any danger and smoothly retrieved the artifact from the ruins.”

Bai Bingbing explained, ”But the moment we took the artifact, it was like we triggered some mechanism. A deep-level Dimensional Rift suddenly appeared inside the ruin.”

”These skeletons are pouring out from that deep-level Dimensional Rift.”

As Bai Bingbing was explaining, Zhou Yuanhao timidly raised his hand.

Li Qian turned his head to look at him, and Zhou Yuanhao immediately spoke up. ”When that deep-level Dimensional Rift first appeared, I peeked inside. The space was gray and hazy, and I think I saw... Inside, there was nothing but bones, stretching as far as the eye could see...”

Hearing this, Li Qian’s face instantly went pale. He burst out cursing, ”Fuck! If that’s the case, what the hell are we still doing fighting here?”

”Let’s get the hell out of here! An endless sea of bones... There’s no way a handful of us can stop that! We wouldn’t even be an appetizer for them...”

With that, Li Qian notified his three Pet Beasts through Telepathy and his Soul Contract, then broke into a sprint toward their hovercar.

The other three turned pale when they heard Zhou Yuanhao’s words. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they didn’t hesitate either, following Li Qian’s lead in a full retreat.

”You’re really something else, man! Why didn’t you say something so important sooner?!” Lu Tianjiao couldn’t help but complain to Zhou Yuanhao as they retreated.

Zhou Yuanhao knew he was in the wrong and ran with his head down, not daring to talk back.

The five of them fought as they fell back. After putting some distance between them and the rift, Li Qian glanced back, and what he saw made his brow furrow even deeper.

Behind them, a massive, overwhelming tide of skeleton Pet Beasts now covered everything.

Li Qian even spotted several colossal skeletons, each dozens of feet tall, within the army of bones.

”A Skeleton Marshal with Dominator Level Potential!” Lu Tianjiao saw it too and couldn’t help but cry out in alarm.

Li Qian shook his head helplessly.

’What I feared most has happened after all.’

’This many skeleton Pet Beasts couldn’t possibly be random mobs.’

’We must have kicked a massive skeleton nest.’

’And in a nest like this, there’s bound to be a leader.’

’The Racial Potential and Power Level of these leaders are usually quite high.’
