Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 363: Chapter 333: Midnight Explosion

The eight of them didn’t hesitate and walked right over. They weren’t worried about any danger; the people who had set up the checkpoint were clearly officials.

Before they had taken more than a few steps, a young Security Officer quickly approached them.

The young Security Officer first gave a military salute, then asked, ”Excuse me, are you freshmen from the Western Beast Taming University and Shazhou Beast Taming University, out for training?”

As he spoke, he focused his gaze on Dakoli. ”You’re Dakoli, right?”

The young Security Officer obviously recognized Dakoli. Although it was a question, his tone was quite certain.

Seeing this, Li Qian began to form some theories about Dakoli’s background.

’He has relatives working in the Shazhou City Beastmaster Association. It seems his background is definitely not simple.’

’But on second thought, it makes sense. If he didn’t have an unusual background, it would be highly unlikely for someone just starting his freshman year to have a Commander Level Pet Beast with Dominator Level Potential.’

”Yeah.” Dakoli walked over, nodded, and confirmed his identity.

He glanced around, then asked with some confusion, ”What’s going on here?”

”I don’t know the specifics myself. We just received orders from above to lock down all of Zhenxi Town. People can enter, but no one can leave.” After speaking, the young Security Officer made an inviting gesture with his hand.

Seeing this, everyone was dumbfounded. What was happening? Had they just walked right into a trap?

’If we’d known this would happen, we would’ve just taken a detour back to Shazhou City.’

Now, it was too late to pretend they hadn’t seen anything. Li Qian walked over and nudged Dakoli’s shoulder. ”Dakoli, go negotiate with them. I really don’t want to be stuck in Zhenxi Town tonight.”

”I have classes early tomorrow morning. I can’t afford to be delayed!”

Hearing Li Qian, Dakoli shook his head with a bitter smile. His tone was helpless. ”I can try, but under normal circumstances, it won’t work.”

Dakoli had said it would be useless under normal circumstances.

As it turned out, his guess was correct.

After a few minutes of negotiation, there were no results.

In the end, they were politely escorted into Zhenxi Town, where accommodations were arranged for them, free of charge.

Still, the more Li Qian thought about it, the more frustrated he felt.

He didn’t want to be stuck in Zhenxi Town at all.

He had classes tomorrow.

But along with his frustration, he was also curious.

’What exactly happened?’

’Why did the officials lock this place down?’

’Entry permitted, but no exit...’

He thought about it but couldn’t come up with any answers.

’Should I ask that young Security Officer from before?’

’That would definitely be a dead end.’

Li Qian decided not to overthink it.

They arrived at the hotel the officials had arranged for them.

Li Qian settled in without any fuss.

He began to review the events of his training trip, going over the whole experience.

Overall, the gains from this training trip were quite good.

However, he had also encountered some unexpected situations.

As he thought, Li Qian couldn’t help but rub his forehead.

’Considering the series of events I’ve personally experienced recently, I’ve realized that this world is becoming more and more dangerous...’

He had dinner at the hotel.

While resting in bed, Li Qian thought for a moment.

In the end, he decided to call his advisor, Teacher Wu.

He explained his situation.

It was possible he wouldn’t make it to his morning classes tomorrow.

Everything depended on whether the lockdown on Zhenxi Town would be lifted by morning.

Over the phone, Teacher Wu didn’t say much, just told him to cooperate fully with the officials’ operations.

As for his classes, she said she would call the instructor to get him excused.

She told him not to worry and not to overthink it.

After all that, Li Qian took a nice, relaxing shower to unwind, then got ready for bed.

He had been active in the desert all day, and now he was truly exhausted.

Soon, he was lying in bed, drifting off to sleep.

RUMBLE...

RUMBLE...

In the middle of the night, just as Li Qian was sound asleep, a sudden, violent explosion rang out.

The explosion was so loud that even inside his room with the window closed, he could hear it crystal clear.

The entire hotel building even seemed to be shaking slightly.

After a few more explosions, Li Qian’s bleary eyes shot open.

He was instantly alert. Throwing on his pajamas, he walked to the window and looked outside.

At that very moment, to the south of Zhenxi Town, flames were continuously flaring up into the sky.

The explosions were coming from that exact direction.

”A fierce battle is happening over there...” Li Qian muttered to himself, then immediately pushed open the window and jumped out.

In mid-air, as he fell, he directly connected to his Soul Contract and summoned Qizai.

”ROAR...”

Qizai let out a couple of roars, then, following Li Qian’s command, flew directly toward the south of Zhenxi Town.

Li Qian wanted to see what exactly was going on.

Before he even got close, while hovering in mid-air, he saw it... To the south of Zhenxi Town, the official Beast Masters were currently fighting a group of Extraordinary Creatures.

Massive robots, each about ten meters tall, were firing all sorts of missile Skills, bombarding rows of towering Rock Giants.

The instant he saw these rows of towering Rock Giants, Li Qian recognized them.

They were the very same group of Rock Giants that his party of eight had encountered in the Black Forest yesterday.

’Why are they here, fighting with the official Beast Masters?’ Seeing this, Li Qian’s mind filled with questions.

’Given the importance of that Dark Red Rock, they shouldn’t have been able to leave that Underground cave.’

At this thought, a sudden realization struck Li Qian.

’Could it be... something happened to the Dark Red Rock?!’

Connecting this with the official lockdown of Zhenxi Town tonight, Li Qian started to form a rough theory.

Although he couldn’t be certain, Li Qian felt his theory was highly probable.

Li Qian frowned, staring at the distant battle scene as a bad premonition rose in his heart.

In the distance, on the battlefield, there were also three Rock Sword Masters.

Those were Emperor Level Extraordinary Creatures!

Watching the official Beast Master team being pushed into a disadvantage, a thin layer of sweat broke out on Li Qian’s forehead.

Facing three Emperor Level and over a dozen Dominator Level Extraordinary Creatures, the handful of official personnel on hand wouldn’t be able to hold them off.

Unless reinforcements were immediately dispatched from Shazhou City, they wouldn’t last much longer.

’And another very important point. If I’m not mistaken, until the true culprit is found, these attacks won’t stop.’
