Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 373: Chapter 343: Two Evolution Methods

Deciding to act, Li Qian immediately took out his phone and called Dean Fei.

Not long after, he arrived at the dean’s office.

He explained the puzzle he was facing.

”Earth Element and Dark Element?”

After listening to Li Qian’s explanation, Dean Fei mulled it over for a moment before speaking his mind. ”If we’re limiting it to the Dominator Level and it has to fit the conditions you just described, it seems there are only three Extraordinary Resources that match.”

”Ghost Spring Stone, Nether Rock, and Moon Shadow Bamboo.”

”This Ghost Spring Stone is...”

Over the next half hour or so, Dean Fei gave a detailed introduction to all three Extraordinary Materials.

He took the opportunity to thoroughly show off his knowledge.

Unfortunately, Li Qian showed no particular reaction.

In his view, it was perfectly normal for the head of the Cultivation College to possess such knowledge.

”Thank you, Dean Fei.”

After listening carefully to Dean Fei’s explanation, Li Qian wasted no more time. He offered his thanks and left immediately.

Without stopping, he headed to the School Pet Beast Center.

The School Pet Beast Center was bustling with activity.

It seemed like this place was always crowded, no matter the time of day.

Li Qian went straight to the second floor. There, he found the three materials and began to examine them.

[Inspiration Value +8. Current task progress: 108%]

The moment he saw the Nether Rock, an electronic notification sound rang in his mind.

”Hearing” this electronic prompt, the corners of his lips curled into a faint smile.

After a moment of thought, Li Qian had a plan.

He decisively submitted the task.

As the task was submitted, the electronic notification sounded in his mind again.

[Task 3: Rock Monster’s evolution method submitted successfully. 5 Achievement Points awarded.]

Seeing that his Achievement Points on the task panel had reached twenty, Li Qian felt a surge of satisfaction.

’After saving up for so long, my Achievement Points have finally reached a respectable number.’

After submitting the task, Li Qian didn’t delay and immediately created a new one.

It was also related to the Rock Monster.

[Create Task 3: Rock Monster’s second evolution method. Current task progress: 98%]

As Li Qian had expected, the newly created task’s progress was indeed at 98%.

This confirmed one thing.

If a task’s progress reached one hundred and ten percent, it meant that the research for two different evolution methods had been completed at once.

Reaching one hundred percent was one evolution method, while reaching one hundred and ten percent was another.

If neither of the two evolution methods was complete, even if both were just a tiny bit away, the progress would be stuck at ninety-nine percent.

If one of them had a breakthrough, the progress would likely rocket to one hundred and nine percent.

Having completely figured out the secret of task progress, Li Qian began to absorb the knowledge infusion he received after submitting the task.

Because he had already more or less figured out the evolution method, this knowledge infusion didn’t last long.

Three minutes later, he had completely digested and absorbed it all.

Aside from a few details, it wasn’t much different from the knowledge he already possessed.

With the Flowing Cloud Red Star Stone, one had to continuously use the ”Stone Armor” Skill next to it, absorbing the Energy it released. Once the Energy overflowed, the Pet Beast would naturally evolve into a Rock Giant.

Moreover, the Racial Potential of a Rock Giant evolved through this method was not the Tier Three Dominator that Li Qian had read about in various books.

It was Overlord Fourth Rank.

Don’t be fooled by the single-tier difference; the gap was actually quite large.

After all, Tier One to Tier Three was the Initial Stage, while Tier Four to Tier Six was the Middle Tier.

The difference between these major tiers was much greater than the difference between minor tiers.

In other words, a Rock Giant evolved using a Flowing Cloud Red Star Stone was superior to an ordinary Rock Giant.

After absorbing all the information, Li Qian remained standing in place, his expression serious, pretending to be looking at an Extraordinary Resource.

Situations like his were not uncommon on the second floor, so he didn’t attract any attention.

On the surface, Li Qian continued to stare, but in reality, his mind was completely focused on something else.

[Task 3: Rock Monster’s second evolution method. Current task progress: 98%]

Having made his decision, Li Qian didn’t hesitate and directly invested 2 Achievement Points into Task 3.

With the investment of two Achievement Points, Task 3’s progress instantly reached one hundred percent.

The only unfortunate thing was that completing a task by using this method to top up the progress didn’t award any Achievement Points.

So, in the end, his Achievement Points count stopped at 18.

’18 points is pretty good. If I use them carefully, they should be enough to last me for a long time.’

Without dwelling on his remaining Achievement Points, Li Qian once again began to receive the knowledge infusion.

This time, it lasted a little longer than before, taking five minutes.

After completely absorbing the infused knowledge, Li Qian couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.

”I really was just missing the final step.”

After muttering to himself, Li Qian began to list the Extraordinary Resources and specific evolution steps required for this second method.

First was step one: train the ”Stone Armor” Skill to the Perfection Level.

This part was identical to the first evolution method.

The difference lay in the second step.

Grind a total of one kilogram of Red Star Stone and Nether Rock into a powder at a nine-to-one ratio, then apply it to the Rock Monster’s body.

The third step was simple: the Rock Monster just needed to use its ”Stone Armor” Skill.

The ”Stone Armor” Skill would mix all the powder applied to the Rock Monster’s body into its Armor and absorb it, thus completing the final evolution.

Learning about this strange evolution process from the knowledge infused into his mind, Li Qian couldn’t help but smile wryly.

’Without my Golden Finger and the knowledge infusions, who could have possibly figured out those last two steps?’

’It would be completely normal to be stuck on this for a decade or more.’

This also showed just how difficult it was for other Breeders to complete a single evolution study.

Reigning in his thoughts, Li Qian turned his attention to the results of the evolution. ’It really is just Tier Three.’

That’s right. The Potential of a Rock Giant evolved through this method was clearly inferior to the first evolution method.

However, in Li Qian’s opinion, the value of this second evolution method was far greater than the first.

Both Red Star Stone and Nether Rock were relatively common Extraordinary Resources.

The combined value of the two didn’t exceed three million.

They were simply incomparable to the Flowing Cloud Red Star Stone.

The latter was worth over fifty million and was extremely rare—available in theory but almost impossible to find on the market.

As for the Rock Sword Master, since he hadn’t seen the evolution process, Li Qian decided not to study it for now, even though he was one hundred percent certain it was related to the Flowing Cloud Red Star Stone.

He would at least wait until he had two empty task slots before considering it.
