Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 380: Chapter 350: Mo Yuan City

Li Qian rested in his room for a while before heading out at dusk. He took a seat on a sofa in the lobby and waited.

A moment later, Lu Tianjiao, Fatty An, Sun Ruirui, and Mo Ziyu arrived one by one. Once everyone was there, they left together.

”I heard Kansai Beast Taming University’s north gate has a food street. Let’s go check it out,” Sun Ruirui said.

Fatty An added, ”I just saw that on a local forum. Let’s eat there tonight.”

Sun Ruirui’s suggestion won everyone over. Without further delay, the group headed straight for the north gate.

”This Kansai Beast Taming University...” Lu Tianjiao began, sizing up the campus scenery.

Li Qian didn’t know what he was about to say, but he was certain it wouldn’t be good. He cut him off immediately. ”Kansai Beast Taming University is actually pretty nice.”

Because of the freshman challenge tournament, the Kansai Beast Taming University campus was bustling with students.

If Lu Tianjiao kept running his mouth, their group would quickly become the center of attention.

That was a kind of fame Li Qian wanted no part of.

That’s why he’d rushed to cut him off.

There was no telling what arrogant nonsense he would spout if left unchecked.

Seeing Li Qian cut off Lu Tianjiao’s tirade, Sun Ruirui let out a long sigh of relief.

’Being with this guy is honestly so stressful.’

The group chatted as they walked, their conversation centered on the upcoming freshman challenge tournament. Before long, they reached the north gate.

Meanwhile, just as Li Qian’s group made their way to the north gate of Kansai Beast Taming University, in a hall on the top floor of another building on campus...

Eight figures stood behind a massive glass curtain wall, gazing at the students coming and going in the distance.

”Old Gao, this gambit we’ve laid out... isn’t it a bit extensive this time?” a man with a long, handsome beard asked.

The man called ”Old Gao,” a middle-aged man balding on top, replied, ”We have no choice. The fusion of the Dimension Plane and the real world is irreversible, and it’s accelerating.”

He continued without pause, ”To prevent any Little Butterflies from popping up when the fusion occurs—which would drain too much of the Federation Government’s resources—some of these gutter rats must be exterminated ahead of time.”

”But to use students for this gambit, and freshmen no less... isn’t that a bit much?” a woman with short hair said with a frown.

”What’s done is done. There’s no point in saying that now,” a stern-faced man interjected. ”Our job now is to ensure their safety as much as possible, and to root out as many of these vermin as we can.”

”Rest assured, we’ve made the proper arrangements. Some ’freshmen’ whose abilities are far beyond the norm have already been planted among them. Furthermore, besides the Fengming Legend, we have other assets in place within Mo Yuan City this time...”

Old Gao didn’t finish his sentence, but his meaning was crystal clear. The last part of his statement, in particular, instilled a powerful sense of confidence in everyone present.

Other assets besides the Fengming Legend. The implication was that this other asset was, in all likelihood, also at the Legendary Level.

”Alright, that’s enough discussion. Let’s stick to the plan,” the stern-faced man said. ”Some things can’t be helped. The sacrifices we make now are to prevent greater losses later.”

”The major Cult Organizations embedded in human society are like poison thorns. They must be pulled out sooner or later, and the longer we wait, the more damage they’ll do.”

”...”

Around 9 p.m., Li Qian and the others returned to the guest hotel at Kansai Beast Taming University.

To be well-rested for the next day’s competition, Li Qian didn’t read that night and went to bed early.

The next morning at nine o’clock, led by their supervising teacher Jin Qi, the fifty-plus competing students from Shazhou Beast Taming University arrived in a large procession at the School Pet Beast Center of Kansai Beast Taming University.

Li Qian glanced around and noticed that his own Beast Taming Academy had only sent five freshmen to compete. He recognized one of them: Ami Liya, who had trained with him in the Moon Shadow Forest.

”Li Qian.” Ami Liya had spotted him too and gave him a nod.

Li Qian smiled back.

A moment later, while waiting to enter the Dimension Plane, Li Qian scanned his surroundings. He noted that the layout of the School Pet Beast Center at Kansai Beast Taming University was fundamentally the same as the one at Shazhou Beast Taming University.

An idea sparked in his mind.

’I wonder what kind of Extraordinary Resources the School Pet Beast Center at Kansai Beast Taming University has. If I get the chance, I’ll have to take a good look.’

After about a ten-minute wait, their group of fifty or so was notified that it was their turn to enter.

They passed through the Teleportation Array into the Adventurer’s Hall, where they collected their Temporary Adventurer’s Badges. After clearing a security check, they entered the Dimension Plane.

Their figures materialized in the Teleportation Plaza of a magnificent city.

”So this is Mo Yuan City, the Dimension Plane city under the jurisdiction of Kansai Beast Taming University. I heard it’s a special-grade city,” Lu Tianjiao remarked, looking around after they arrived.

’Looks like he acts all nonchalant, but he actually did his homework on the sly.’

Li Qian nodded. He was also making his own comparison between Yuntian City and Mo Yuan City.

He found that although both were special-grade cities, their layouts and architectural styles were vastly different.

If Yuntian City was wild and unrestrained, prioritizing function over form, then Mo Yuan City had a bit more character.

While most of its buildings were also on the shorter side, many of them boasted antique-style architecture.

With its red walls, dark tiles, and ornate, colorful eaves, Li Qian felt a sense of nostalgia. It was like a scene from his past life, a dream of the Zhonghua Family’s prosperous Tang Dynasty.

”It feels more distinctive than Yuntian City,” Li Qian said honestly.

He had entered Mo Yuan City with the team from Shazhou Beast Taming University. On the entire team, besides Lu Tianjiao, the only person he knew was Ami Liya.

As for Fatty An, he was just a spectator, so he wouldn’t be allowed in until later that afternoon.

And as for Sun Ruirui and Mo Ziyu, they would have certainly entered with the team from Zhonghai Beast Taming University.

Li Qian scanned the crowd casually, then spotted a familiar face in a group not far off.

It was the guide who had welcomed them to Kansai Beast Taming University. Li Qian had assumed he was a staff member or a volunteer.

He’d never expected the guide to be a competitor as well. When Li Qian saw him, the guide was staring intently at the team from Shazhou Beast Taming University.

Li Qian clearly saw the man’s gaze linger on Lu Tianjiao for a long moment. A bad feeling suddenly welled up inside him.

’I have a feeling,’ he thought, ’that Lu Tianjiao is in for a world of hurt this time.’
