Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 356: Chapter 326: Double Heaven of Ice and Fire

”A Weather Skill!” everyone cried in surprise as a faint blue light suddenly emanated from the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon. Dark clouds immediately began to gather in the sky, and a fierce wind kicked up.

If one were to ask what Skills Beast Masters cared about most, besides Super-tier Skills and Mysterious Skills, it would undoubtedly be Weather Skills.

Compared to powerful offensive Skills or highly functional control Skills, the influence of Weather Skills on a battle often proved to be the deciding factor.

This was especially true in a deadlocked battle.

Weather Skills could instantly create favorable conditions, shifting the battle to their side and against the enemy. If the fight dragged on, it wasn’t impossible for the weak to defeat the strong, or even to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Precisely because of this incredible effect, Weather Skills were exceedingly rare. Likewise, a Pet Beast capable of mastering a Weather Skill was considered among the absolute best of its tier.

Suddenly seeing a Weather Skill being used, the crowd’s initial surprise turned to elation as they all fixed their gazes on Li Qian.

Unlike the traditional logic of the five elements, in this Beast Taming World, the Earth Element, including its variant the Rock Element, was actually weak to the Water Element.

Casting the Rain Prayer Skill would undoubtedly have a massive impact on the Rock Giant. Its combat power would surely be weakened, to say nothing of its ability to sustain a long fight.

WHOOSH! Li Qian let out a long breath as he saw the dark clouds in the sky. Casting the Rain Prayer Skill in the desert was far more difficult than in a normal region.

This was mainly because the water molecules in the air were pitifully scarce, so casting the skill required a great deal more Energy.

If not for his constant, diligent practice, which had brought Qizai’s Rain Prayer Skill to the Skilled Level, it would have been impossible to cast it at all.

Even so, it had consumed fifty to sixty percent of its Energy.

”What a great chance!” When Dakoli saw Li Qian’s Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon cast the Rain Prayer Skill, his surprise gave way to delight.

He immediately ordered his Meteor Monkey to attack again.

BZZZT...

The sound of crackling electricity drew Li Qian’s attention.

Dazzling arcs of electricity burst forth from the Meteor Monkey’s hands.

”Meteor Monkey, use Thunder Fist!” Dakoli roared.

The Meteor Monkey didn’t hesitate. It was incredibly fast, leaping out in a flash and arriving in front of the Rock Giant in the blink of an eye.

Strictly speaking, Thunder Skills were weak against the Rock Element. After all, the Rock Element was a variant of the Earth Element, and it was common knowledge that the earth could absorb lightning—that was the principle behind lightning rods.

However, with the Rain Prayer Skill active and a light rain beginning to fall, the situation was different.

The Water Element was weak to the Thunder Element. Soaked by the rain, the Rock Giant was now covered in a conductive layer.

The electric current could now travel across its entire body in an instant.

BZZZT...

The Rock Giant wasn’t fast—at least, not compared to the Meteor Monkey—and it failed to dodge the ferocious attack.

The massive fist landed squarely on the Rock Giant’s chest. The direct damage was limited, but as the electricity coating the fist spread out, things changed.

In a flash, blue-purple electricity covered the Rock Giant’s entire body, nearly dyeing the yellowish-brown giant a purplish-blue.

”ROAR!” The Rock Giant bellowed in rage as the current coursed through its body.

Clearly, the subsequent electrical arcs had inflicted significant damage.

”Don’t just stand there, attack now! Seize the opportunity!” Dakoli immediately shouted, seeing that a few team members were stunned by the sudden turn of events and had frozen in place.

BZZZT... In pain, the Rock Giant violently swung its arm, preparing to smash it down. But as electricity arced across its limb again, its already slow speed dropped drastically.

”Now’s our chance! The Thunder Fist’s attack paralyzed it!” Li Yuhu, the group’s tomboy, was the first to react, summoning her second Pet Beast, a Fire Mastiff.

The Fire Mastiff spat out a large Fireball, and in mid-air, the Three-legged Kite immediately flapped its wings, activating its Tornado Skill.

The wind fanned the flames.

Terrifying, high-temperature flames engulfed the Rock Giant with overwhelming force.

First lightning, then high-temperature flames—such a ferocious assault inflicted considerable damage on the Rock Giant.

Li Qian frowned slightly. ’Something feels off,’ he thought.

Without overthinking it, he gave an order to Ding Ganmao, who had already summoned his second Pet Beast. ”Xiaodingding, have your Snow Child use an Ice Skill.”

”You got it! Let’s give it a taste of both ice and fire!” Ding Ganmao, not minding Li Qian’s nickname for him, enthusiastically commanded his Snow Child to hit the Rock Giant with a Rapid Freeze Beam.

As everyone knows, the best way to deal with rock is through thermal shock—alternating heat and cold.

After a few cycles of expansion and contraction, even the hardest rock will crack.

Ding Ganmao clearly understood this principle, so he carried out Li Qian’s order without hesitation.

”Did it work?” Wang Guanjun asked expectantly as he watched the Rapid Freeze Beam shoot out and strike the Rock Giant without fail.

Li Qian saw this and shook his head. ”It’s not that simple. An Overlord-level Pet Beast can’t be taken down so easily.”

Their attacks were certainly powerful; it would be no exaggeration to call them outstanding among Pet Beasts of the same Level.

However, the Level difference between them and the Rock Giant was simply too great.

Trying to defeat it this easily was next to impossible.

As it turned out, Li Qian’s guess was correct.

From within the smoke and dust, a giant rock hand came slamming down.

Its target was none other than Wang Guanjun, who had just let his focus slip.

Seeing this, Wang En Ci immediately had his Pet Beast, the Cloud Valley Egg, use a Skill. ”Light of Protection!”

”Rock Shield!” An Duowan also immediately followed up with a Guardian Skill.

Even so, they still couldn’t stop the Rock Giant’s hand, merely slowing it for a moment.

But because of that one-second delay, Wang Guanjun managed a clumsy roll, narrowly avoiding the attack.

”Be careful!” Wang En Ci shouted. ”You have to stay focused during a fight!”

Wang Guanjun was ashamed. He had almost been killed because of his carelessness. Having just escaped death, his back was immediately drenched in a cold sweat.

”Thanks,” he said, looking at Wang En Ci and An Duowan. If not for them just now, he would have been a goner.

”We’re teammates. Don’t mention it.” An Duowan shook his head, still a man of few words.

With a RUMBLE, the Rock Giant’s hand missed its mark, smashing a deep crater into the ground.

Seeing this, Li Qian’s brow furrowed even deeper.

’The speed of that last attack was strange. Even injured, a creature with the Rock Giant’s power shouldn’t have been so slow.’

It was perhaps a callous thought, but Li Qian believed that, logically, there was no way Wang Guanjun should have been able to dodge that attack.
