Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 390: Chapter 360: All Factions in Motion

Xiahou Lan.

The current Clan Leader of the Xiahou Family, and also one of the vice-deans of the Kansai Beast Taming University’s Combat Academy.

His current strength and status were due not only to his own hard work and his family’s support but also, in large part, to the legacy left by his ancestors.

That was right. His ancestor was one of the Seven Monarchs, the Xiahou Monarch.

He was also one of the founders of Mo Yuan City.

As a descendant of the Xiahou Monarch, he knew the situation regarding the Monarch’s two ace Pet Beasts—the Sunbird and the Bai Yuan—very well.

When he saw the pillar of fire, wrapped around a pillar of golden light, shoot over a hundred meters into the air, his eyes filled with shock.

He had seen this very scene described in the records his family kept.

It was the exact sight of a Sunbird’s evolution.

Xiahou Lan’s strength had long since reached the Emperor Level; he was currently a Tier Five Emperor expert.

Logically, even if the Sunbird completed its evolution, its Potential would only reach the Emperor High Rank. That wasn’t much higher than his own current strength, so he shouldn’t be losing his composure like this.

In truth, besides it being his ancestor’s ace Pet Beast, the reason Xiahou Lan was so shocked was because he knew a secret.

The Sunbird’s Potential was far from being fully realized. According to the Xiahou Monarch’s final words, the Sunbird’s ultimate Evolutionary Form was the Legendary Level Three-legged Golden Crow.

Sensing his own life was coming to an end, the Xiahou Monarch once made a desperate attempt.

He had tried to evolve his ace Pet Beast, the Sunbird, into a Three-legged Golden Crow.

However, evolving a Legendary Level Pet Beast was simply too difficult. In the end, the evolution failed.

To be precise, it wasn’t a complete failure, but a partial success. He had seen the Sunbird’s evolved form, but it didn’t last long.

That’s right—that evolved form was the Three-legged Golden Crow.

For this very reason, the Xiahou Family had never stopped its research on the Sunbird.

Unfortunately, this research had never yielded any breakthroughs.

Forget evolving it into a Three-legged Golden Crow; they hadn’t even figured out a stable evolutionary path for the Sunbird.

So, at this very moment, seeing this scene, a tempest was raging in his heart.

In fact, Xiahou Lan was far from the only one who was shocked.

Everyone who understood what was happening was staring in astonishment.

Then, they began to watch with even greater concentration.

This was just a freshman challenge, but it seemed they were about to witness history today.

Li Qian, however, was unaware of the crowd’s shock.

In fact, even if he had known, he wouldn’t have had the mind to care.

At this moment, his entire focus was on observing Chicken Hair’s transformation.

It might have looked like a simple Flame Spray, but with Xiaoliu’s current strength, it was more than enough to take Chicken Hair’s life ten times over.

Therefore, although the evolution seemed to be proceeding in an orderly, step-by-step manner, it was actually extremely dangerous.

One small mistake could inflict a fatal injury on Chicken Hair.

That was why Li Qian hadn’t relaxed for even a moment, continuing to watch and observe with rapt attention.

Even if there was nothing he could do right now.

The terrifying pillar of fire and the dazzling pillar of golden light sent waves of heat sweeping out in all directions.

In the stands, robes and clothes fluttered violently.

Some people were already covered in sweat, but no one complained. Every pair of eyes remained glued to the changes on the field.

The strange phenomenon lasted for about ten minutes.

”KREEE—!”

Finally, with a high-pitched cry, a Flying Pet Beast wreathed in flames soared out from the pillar of golden light.

”KREE! KREE! KREE...”

The Flying Pet Beast circled in mid-air, its cries echoing continuously—crisp, clear, and soul-stirring.

After circling three or four times, the flames covering its body began to recede slowly.

Plumage interwoven with fiery red and gold came into everyone’s view.

Its head resembled a peacock’s, its body was like that of a great roc, and trailing behind its tail were two long tufts of Feathers—one gold, the other fiery red.

The newly emerged Flying Pet Beast hovered high above, looking down on all creation like an emperor, captivating the hearts of all who watched.

In fact, it was an emperor.

Its Potential reached the terrifying Emperor High Rank, fluctuating between Tier Seven Emperor and Tier Nine Emperor depending on the individual.

Li Qian’s—that is, Chicken Hair’s—Potential had reached Tier Eight Emperor.

That was quite good, placing it in the upper-middle tier of its kind.

If he piled on all sorts of heavenly treasures, it might even be possible to raise it to the Saint Spirit Level.

”Heavens, what kind of Pet Beast is that? It’s so bright it’s blinding my damn eyes!”

”No, no, I can’t take it anymore! I have to get one too! I don’t care how much it costs!”

”You two, save your breath. That’s a Sunbird with Emperor High Rank Potential! It’s also known as the Phoenix. As if you could ever hope to get one!”

”A Sunbird! It’s actually a Sunbird! The Xiahou Monarch’s ace Pet Beast, appearing in a freshman challenge of all places!”

”This freshman is way too strong, he’s a monster! What was his name again? Which Imperial University is he from?”

”...”

In the stands, the audience erupted in discussion.

It was like pouring a basin of cold water into a wok of hot oil.

Cheers, shouts, and whispered discussions rose and fell, creating a chaotic din.

It was as loud as a wet market at eight in the morning.

In a private box in the upper stands, the supervising teacher, Ge Yuming, had also witnessed the scene.

He immediately gave an order to a young assistant teacher beside him.

He told him to leave Mo Yuan City at once, go outside, and call Dean Fei and Principal Park to inform them of what had happened here.

Due to the obstruction caused by the Dimensional Rift, communication between the real world and the Dimension Plane was impossible.

To contact one another, one had to leave the Dimension Plane first.

Hearing Ge Yuming’s command, the young assistant immediately took off running.

He left the competition stadium and headed straight for the Teleportation Plaza.

He knew very well that something this major had to be reported to Dean Fei and Principal Park of the Cultivation College immediately.

As he was leaving the stadium, he glanced around inadvertently and noticed he wasn’t the only one leaving in a hurry.

The young assistant even saw teachers from many other schools among them, including some from the Eight Great.

Seeing this, his sense of crisis deepened, and he unconsciously quickened his pace.

’These people are probably all planning to poach him! I can’t let them succeed.’

Meanwhile, back in the middle of the arena, Li Qian watched Chicken Hair circle in the air and activated his Eye of True Sight, revealing its information.
