Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 379: Chapter 349: Checking In

The five of them met up, joked around at the school gate for a bit, then returned to the reception area. A student guide led them onto campus.

”Looks like it’s a bit grander than our Shazhou Beast Taming University,” Fatty An commented, casually looking around the campus.

Even though he was just a spectator, he had paid to be able to stay on campus.

Of course, the most important prerequisite... he was also a student at Shazhou Beast Taming University. If he weren’t, even with the money he paid, he would have had to stay off-campus.

Hearing Fatty An’s comment, Lu Tianjiao casually chimed in, ”Don’t be fooled by Kansai Beast Taming University’s decline. They may be at the bottom of the Eight Great now, but they had a rich history. Their ranking used to be much higher than our Shazhou Beast Taming University, second only to Zhonghai Beast Taming University and Kyoto Beast Taming University. It’s just that... each generation is worse than the last...”

The casual way he said it, combined with the fact that they were on the Kansai Beast Taming University campus with a student guide right next to them, made Li Qian’s mouth twitch.

’Dude, can’t you hold back a little?’

’Even if it’s true, you don’t have to say it to their faces. You’re going to get yourself punched acting like this.’

Li Qian couldn’t help but curse him out internally.

He saw that while the student guide remained silent, his expression had already turned rather ugly.

Seeing this, Li Qian couldn’t help but reach out and poke Lu Tianjiao in the side.

He was telling him to be a little more mindful.

But that guy had no self-awareness whatsoever, or maybe he just didn’t care at all.

Li Qian decided to just shut his mouth and pretend he didn’t know him.

Sun Ruirui and Mo Ziyu, who were standing nearby, were from Zhonghai Beast Taming University, but they didn’t offer any comment on the matter.

They knew not to hit someone where it hurts.

So, they both put on an expression that said they didn’t know Lu Tianjiao well.

In reality, they really didn’t know him well.

It was purely a case of him trying desperately to get close to them.

Even Li Qian, standing right there, could clearly see his sleazy and flamboyant attempts.

And the target of his performance was none other than the Iceberg Beauty, Mo Ziyu, so it was like lighting a lamp for a blind man—a complete waste of effort. She had barely paid him any mind from the start, offering only a polite nod.

Her attitude was even colder than the one she showed Fatty An.

Fatty An, on the other hand, was smart. Sizing up the situation, he didn’t act overly enthusiastic.

Perhaps he knew that, given his own circumstances, it was impossible for him to pursue a girl like that.

”I’m telling you, if Kansai Beast Taming University doesn’t change, if they keep up this aloof, holier-than-thou attitude, unwilling to lower themselves to compete for new student resources, they’ll just keep declining. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get kicked out of the Eight Great one day...” The others were clearly uninterested, but Lu Tianjiao was just getting warmed up, continuing to ramble on without a shred of awareness.

Li Qian simply picked up his pace and followed the guide forward.

Kansai Beast Taming University was huge, its campus no smaller than Shazhou Beast Taming University’s, and it had a campus hotel.

Though it was called a campus guest hotel, it was in no way inferior to a luxury hotel.

The hotel building was thirty stories tall, making it one of the tallest structures on campus.

It was quite conspicuous from a distance.

At first, Li Qian hadn’t noticed it, assuming it was just another academic building on campus, or some other kind of instructional facility.

But after hearing the guide’s explanation and learning it was a campus hotel, a look of surprise appeared on his face.

’With facilities like these,’ Li Qian estimated, ’they must be among the top of the Eight Great.’

As he walked and listened to the guide’s introduction, Li Qian could clearly sense the pride and self-satisfaction in the guide’s voice.

”What’s the use of having good facilities? The quality of a school is determined by the ability of its students...” Lu Tianjiao muttered from behind.

Hearing this, the corner of Li Qian’s eye twitched.

He now genuinely suspected that if it weren’t for the setting, the guide in front of them would probably have started a fight with the jerk.

The guy really had no filter.

After shooting a glance back at Lu Tianjiao, telling him to tone it down, Li Qian quickly walked into the hotel.

After showing his student ID and completing the check-in process in the lobby, he headed off toward the floor his room was on by himself.

”You really need to tone it down a bit. We’re at Kansai Beast Taming University, for crying out loud. This is their home turf. Acting so arrogantly might get you into trouble...” Li Qian earnestly advised in the elevator.

Whether Lu Tianjiao listened or not was his own business.

As Li Qian expected, the guy just pursed his lips and put on an indifferent expression.

Seeing this, Li Qian said no more.

In the elevator, the young Sun Ruirui took out her phone, tapped it a few times, and then proposed, ”Kansai is one of the most famous ancient cities in our Dongxia Federation. It has a lot of historic architecture and a really special atmosphere. I looked it up online, and the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful at night under all the lights. Brother Qian, should we go out and explore tonight?”

”Sure.” Faced with Sun Ruirui’s pleading puppy-dog eyes, Li Qian smiled and nodded.

Before long, he arrived at his room.

It was a single room, not very large, but very clean.

Li Qian flopped onto the bed and tested the mattress’s softness. It was quite comfortable.

He put on his VR glasses and made a call to his mother, Han Yuqing.

He hadn’t told his parents beforehand that he was participating in the Freshman Challenge, so they were quite happy when they first heard the news.

In their eyes, the fact that Li Qian could represent Shazhou Beast Taming University in the Freshman Challenge was proof that he was highly regarded at school.

After a brief chat about how he was doing, Li Qian soon hung up the phone.

Li Qian surveyed his room, then got to work.

He took some luggage out of his Space Necklace, hung his spare clothes in the closet, and placed his toiletries by the sink. After all that, he put his VR glasses back on and started browsing the local news.

Since this year’s Freshman Challenge was being held at Kansai Beast Taming University, there was a lot of local news coverage about it recently.

Of course, this included no shortage of speculation about the final rankings of some of the more famous students and discussions about their Power Levels.

Seeing this news, Li Qian just smiled faintly, not paying it much mind.

The speculation and discussion in the reports were almost entirely focused on the top students from the Combat Academies of the famous universities.

It had nothing to do with an ordinary freshman like him, who was participating in a niche category, a breeding competition.
