My Players Are So Fierce

“The Machuute Ruins were seized a day ago, we have lost New Bourbon, and the Seventh Pioneer Armed Group that was guarding it has been completely annihilated. The Aztecs did not slaughter them but handed them over to the angry Ganotes.

Those barbarians held horrific live sacrifices in their Holy Cities, everyone… was… “

This terrifying news immediately silenced the noisy city hall.

The “people of status” present looked at each other. Although despair is an intangible emotion, unseen and untouchable, the facial expressions unfolding among the people there vividly illustrated the true meaning of “despair.”

However, the Mediterranean Mayor was still very composed. He coughed, took the battle report from the Defense Officer’s hand, glanced at it, and then turned to look at the so-called “map of the New Federal United States” hanging behind him. Discovering that the Aztec army had already advanced to the center of the Holy Spirit Plain, cold sweat immediately poured down from him.

So fast!

This rate of advance is simply deadly!

Given the current situation, in at most two months, all pioneers of the New Federal United States will be driven into the sea to feed the fish by the brutal Aztecs.

“Do not worry! Gentlemen, ladies, these are merely strategic adjustments. The southern part of the Holy Spirit Plain has never been our traditional sphere of influence.”

He wiped the sweat with a handkerchief and then turned to shout to the people quietly standing behind him:

“Our powerful legions and fleets have already set out. As soon as they launch an attack, the situation will immediately be controlled and reversed. We have many Demigod War Beasts, we have many allied Divine Warriors, we also have the Creator’s blessings and protection! Most importantly, we have strong support from the Adventurers’ Guild. The warriors of the old continent are already on their way. As long as we grit our teeth and hold on, we won’t lose our land, plantations, and our wealth…”

“And our slaves!”

An urbane old gentleman loudly exclaimed:

“Without those slaves, how shall we create wealth? Mayor Pat, didn’t you say your talks with the Kings went smoothly? Will the Goldenrod Kingdom and the Nordtov Kingdom just watch as we brave pioneers are defeated by barbarians? Also the Posya Confederation… I am myself a baron of Westerburg, my family holds great prestige in the local area! I also have connections with the strong and brave Count Xikemeier, and if needed, I can write a letter to my old friend, requesting him to dispatch the powerful Xike Wing Cavalry to the new continent, sending all those barbarians to the sky!”

“Of course, of course! Baron Fenwick, when we need powerful wing cavalry, I will certainly contact you first, but clearly the situation is not yet that dire.”

Mayor Pat’s forehead was sweating more; he wiped the sweat while soothingly said:

“Choosing to establish the New Federal United States here was a decision made collectively by everyone, we unwilling to hand over our wealth to the kings and great nobles of the old continent. If we hastily introduce their forces, we might waste fifty years of pioneering efforts, so until the most critical moment, we must not act rashly. Everyone, go rest now. After I and our loyal and reliable defense army make some strategic adjustments, we will continue to discuss the decision to send pioneers to the northern ice plains.”

The mayor coughed a few times, signaling his servants to escort the city council members out. After the hall was left with only him and the stern-faced officer, he wiped his sweat and hoarsely asked:

“So, our mechanics still haven’t been able to repair those Creator’s Artifacts?”

“Can’t say there’s no effect, just no progress, Mayor.”

The officer shook his head regretfully and said:

“The mechanics simply don’t understand their principles, even effective disassembly is difficult. After they all collapsed overnight, the Aztecs came to attack. Many Commanders believe the Aztecs used sorcery to interfere with the sacred machines, but forgive my bluntness, sir, the situation is very bad now. Even though we have demigods and Divine Warriors on our side, their numbers are insufficient to hold the entire battlefield. The Aztecs have ways to deal with them. If we don’t get support soon, the New Federal United States might be doomed.”

“Stop only portraying this boring fear, say something useful! Sir.”

Mayor Pat got a bit angry, he reprimanded:

“In our country, you also have your plantations and estates. If these are lost, you can only take your wife and children back to the old continent to continue your failed career as a smuggler, everyone here is the same, including me! In the old continent, we are the most derided! We have no power, no wealth, not even the right to be looked upon, but here we became respectable gentlemen and people of status through our pioneering efforts. After tasting dignity and affluence, who would want to go back to live bleak days? Hold on! No matter what method you use, the front line must hold! I would rather jump off the dock at Newbury and drown than slink back to the old continent amidst ridicule laughter!”

The officer fell silent.
