My Players Are So Fierce

Fraser nodded and said:

“My war has ended; I will apply for retirement and return home after returning to the Exploration Corps. But as I just said, Father, when accepting the new life brought by the Symbiote, the duty bestowed by the creator has become the mission of the second half of my life. Together with Ron, I will move forward in the darkness, uprooting those wicked individuals lurking in the shadows, watching the world! This will be an eternal service…”

“So, you’ve left the battlefield only to put yourself into a more dangerous situation?”

Count Leon was somewhat angry.

He tapped the ground with his cane and reprimanded:

“Can’t you do what young people your age should be doing? Why can’t you spend freely and indulge just like other young people, living a decadent and boring life of a young master? My god, I never thought I would feel despair over your excessive ambition one day. Perhaps I demanded too much from you since you were young…”

“Don’t worry, Father, I won’t do those dangerous things alone.”

Fraser shrugged, stuffed the last vegetable bun into his mouth, and then took the clam chowder brought by the halfling chef who was looking at him with awe, drinking it all in one gulp.

He let out a contented sigh and then took out a handkerchief, wiping his mouth with an elegant gesture.

At least at that moment, he turned back into the child the Earl was proud and content with.

He picked up the nearby high-calorie pastries and stuffed them into his mouth. A large amount of sugar satisfied the symbiote inside him, softening Fraser’s tone as he said:

“I will follow your wishes to learn how to inherit the family business, becoming an outstanding head of the family. While also wisely using the family’s wealth and power to elevate this creator-given enterprise to a higher level. I once heard an exciting story from my foreign friend about ‘Batman,’ a story about someone from a background like mine donning a cape to protect the city. A great story, it makes me happy. But I always thought that Dark Knight’s methods of fighting crime were too bizarre. Clearly, he could achieve greater things through his other identity. Father, I will become the most outstanding heir in your mind. But I will also become someone else.”

Fraser stood up, supporting his father, speaking softly:

“I will lead our family into true greatness. Of course, after that, I will transfer the inheritance rights to you and Aunt Runa’s child. Only after fulfilling your expectations will I embark on another journey to complete another chapter of my life. In Transylvania… You know, there’s a girl waiting for me. I will never be able to approach her under the name of Cape, but when I can finally put down the burden in the future, I will rush to her side as soon as possible.”

The Earl was silent.

After a few minutes, he spoke to the old steward Huguenot beside him, who had a subtle smile:

“What more can I say? My child is excellent, even outstanding, yet regrettably, he is too exceptional, and that can also be a kind of regret.”

“That’s a good thing, my lord.”

Old Huguenot softly soothed him, saying:

“Since the young master has decided to return to the life trajectory you set for him, it means you need no longer worry about the legacy and can focus on your own business. I will go with him to pack his luggage at his residence; you should perhaps take this time to complete the necessary conversations with the owner of this airship. He’s waiting for you.”

“Hmm.”

The Earl nodded and temporarily bid farewell to his child at the restaurant door, then followed Adel to the captain’s cabin, which waited beside.

Upon opening the door, he saw Murphy standing by the window with his hands behind his back, in the standard aloof vampire pose of the night, gazing down at the group of nervous Rhenia refugees ‘shuttling’ below.

They, carrying large and small bags, were carefully led by the Wolf Poison Clan’s snakehead along the Exploration Corps’ defensive line gap, boarding the boat waiting at the lake shore.

These frightened poor souls abandoned the past, crossing the lake no longer safe with hopes for the future in the night; any rustle would alert them like startled rabbits, but reaching the opposite shore would allow them to enter the Transylvania-managed area.

However, this doesn’t mark the end of their ‘shuttling’ journey.

After reaching the lake’s opposite shore, they must pass through the area ambushed by Merfolk under the Blood Rat Gang’s snakehead’s guidance to arrive at the outskirts of the Smugglers’ Forest, there visiting the mysterious chieftain of the Bloodclaw Clan and the powerful ‘Local Snake’ Lord Nash.

After paying a toll not cheap for the refugees, Nash would use his ‘connections,’ arranging for these refugees to head to the factories under construction in the Andma Hills, where they can secure a job enough to settle down.

Though this ‘shuttling to Transylvania’ industry had surfaced only less than half a month, it already boasts a mature and comprehensive supply chain, each intermediate transaction holding profit potential.

As long as Transylvania’s hunger for labor continues, this trade can function steadily. It’s said that now the Blood Rat Gang members are planning to establish a second and third similar supply chain at the borders of Kavkhoka and the Saxon Region.
