My Players Are So Fierce

There’s still a settlement fee for responding to the recruitment now!

Come with me to the assembly point of the Bataxin Business Association, and they’ll give it to you on the spot…

Outside the refugee camp by the sea, a gang of little thugs under the Wolfsbane Clan aren’t here to cause trouble today. Instead, they’re holding flyers, giving them to anyone they see, enticing those gaunt refugees to follow them.

Not far away is a temporary relief point set up by the Bataxin Business Association, distributing plain buns to the hungry people.

Those getting food form a line, giving these recruiters the opportunity to pitch.

In the terrible environment, concurrently threatened by the Merfolk and despised by locals, many people have reached their limit. Staying in the Kato area only means being a vagrant; they might as well take a chance in Transylvania.

Of course, Transylvania’s “reputation” makes many people hesitate, but that doesn’t deter the staff of the Bataxin Business Association. People can go three days without food through willpower, but on the fourth day, the rumbling stomach forces you to find a way to survive.

Moreover, men may have pride, but what about their wives and kids running households?

“But isn’t there a Merfolk disturbance recently?”

A middle-aged man with a crippled leg looks at the tempting words on the flyer. He voices some doubts to the recruiter next to him, who’s spitting as he talks:

“Dorod Fortress was attacked by Merfolk. Can we really go there? Didn’t they say the Exploration Corps has already sealed off the border?”

“Hey, why worry about that? If Transylvania merchants dare to recruit, they must have ways.”

The little thug affiliated with the Wolfsbane Clan next to him smirks and says:

“I’ve heard that the Bataxin Business Association, with their vast connections, has opened up passage. They cleared a special route, and if you’re willing to go, you can wait by the lakeside tonight. Someone will naturally guide you across the border. I also heard that you used to be a foreman on the peninsula. Someone like you will surely have a bright future in Transylvania. When you’re settled, don’t forget to help a brother out. Besides, I heard another piece of insider news from the boss today.”

The little thug glanced around, lowered his voice:

“The local factory owners have petitioned Count Leon to withdraw the militia from near the camp so that the Merfolk can come ashore and eat you all… You know, those guys have long found you troublesome, and the half-body men in the camp have been sent away. Those workers have lost their jobs and dare not confront the factory owners, so they had to vent their anger on you. If you can go, then go quickly! Our rival gang allegedly took bribes from those guys and is recruiting people to ‘do work’ these days; you might be in deep trouble…”

“Damn! The camp’s on fire, someone come quick!”

Before the words were finished, a panicked voice echoed from behind. The old foreman with the crippled leg turned to look and saw black smoke rising from the edge of the camp.

“See, what did I say?”

The little thug next to him smirked:

“This is just the beginning. Factory owners want to drive you out, and things could get bloody. You, with your family, shouldn’t get involved. Listen to me, leave this place of trouble quickly. I’m only saying this much because you saved my cousin from the seaside when you came and got injured as a result! Powers behind the scenes are pushing this. You can’t resist, just follow along obediently. Transylvania needs people, and you won’t be mistreated there; it’s better than waiting here to die.”

“Hmph.”

The old foreman grunted, glanced at the recruitment flyer, then at the little thug beside him, he said:

“How much do you get for bringing someone over there?”

“Why are you talking like this, you old coffin-board? I saved your life and this is your attitude? What do you mean how much I get! You…”

“Cut the crap. I can bring at least fifty people with me, but I want a third of the money you get. I need to settle down too after I go, so just one word, deal or no deal? If not, I’ll find someone else. I don’t believe there’s no one who wants to earn this money!”

“Alright, alright! Fifty people, right? A third, right? No problem! Go round up, and I’ll settle with you on the spot tonight when we reach the smuggling route. Old man, you’re impressive. But with your network, why going to Transylvania?”

Be a broker with me, Bataxin Business Association offers a high price and some so-called tiered rewards.

If you can introduce two hundred people, you can formally be employed. The benefits are so good even our boss envies it, not to mention this has the tacit approval of the Wolfsbane Bosses; otherwise, we wouldn’t dare to partner with the Transia people.

“Not going! I have skills, earning honestly is more secure. This miserable job I’ll only do this once. Ah, hope Transylvania doesn’t let us homeless, unfortunate souls down.”
