Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 486: Chapter 529: Engagement Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Marriage

Ye’s mother sighed and said helplessly, ”If he truly has a change of heart, of course, I’ll be happy! You’re married and can’t stay at home with me every day. I’m alone at home daily, which is lonely. If he’s willing to change, stay with me, then of course I’ll be happy! Just like he said earlier, we only have about twenty years left. We didn’t have a single happy day in the first fifty years, and for the last twenty years, I hope for a little comfort!”

Father Ye quickly nodded in agreement, ”Don’t worry, don’t worry, I will definitely treat you well from now on! I won’t do anything to make you sad and disappointed again!”

Hearing this, Ye Anxin smiled and said, ”Mom, let’s trust Dad this once! How nice it is for the family to be happy together!”

Ye’s mother gave Ye’s father a indifferent glance. Seeing him acting so ingratiatingly the whole time, she didn’t say anything more.

Seeing their willingness to trust his change, Father Ye quickly added with a smile, ”Anxin! Why did only you come over? Where is Xiao Bai? You don’t know how much your mother has missed Xiao Bai over the past five years, longing to have a meal and a good gathering with him! Not just your mom, I’ve been missing him too!”

Mentioning Xiao Bai, Ye Anxin lowered her head, filled with guilt, and said, ”Mom, I’m sorry, I talked to Xiao Bai last night, but he didn’t agree!” Quickly, fearing her parents might misunderstand, she hurried to explain, ”Mom, please don’t misunderstand, the reason Xiao Bai didn’t agree is because he’s never met you, he’s not familiar with you! He’s shy, it has to be gradual, he needs to get to know you first, no rush! We have plenty of time!”

Seeing Ye Anxin’s tense expression, Ye’s mother sighed and comforted, ”I know, I understand! Although I haven’t spoken to Xiao Bai, I’ve secretly watched him with you before! I know his personality, it’s like his father’s, introverted, not socially adept! He’s never met me as his grandmother, it’s normal for him to be distant! I’m not in a hurry, we’ll take our time. You don’t need to worry; I won’t blame you!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anxin finally relaxed and sighed in relief, ”Mom, thank you for understanding! I specifically came today to talk to you about this! I was afraid you’d be sad, might misunderstand Xiao Bai!”

Ye’s mother smiled, ”Am I such an irrational person? Since you’re here today, stay for a meal! It’s been a long time since the three of us sat together for a meal!”

Ye Anxin agreed readily, ”Alright! I’ll help you with the cooking!”

”Okay!” Ye’s mother nodded, put on an apron, and walked into the kitchen with Ye Anxin to start preparing.

Father Ye eagerly followed them, leaning at the door, smilingly asking, ”Can I help with anything?”

Ye’s mother shook her head, ”No need, go watch TV! The kitchen is small, not enough room for so many people!”

”Alright! Just let me know if you need anything, I’ll be sitting in the living room!” Father Ye nodded and obediently returned to the living room, opening the TV on the sofa.

At the moment the TV sound started, a proud smile appeared on his lips, a trace of complacency flashing in his eyes.

Shortly after, the phone in his pocket vibrated!

Father Ye secretly glanced towards the kitchen, quickly took out his phone, opened a message, and swiftly deleted it after reading it. Then he glanced towards the kitchen again, seeing they hadn’t come out, he smilingly put the phone back into his pants pocket.

In the kitchen, Ye’s mother and Ye Anxin stood together preparing vegetables. Ye Anxin leaned towards Ye’s mother’s ear and whispered, ”Mom, don’t you think Dad seems like a completely different person?”

Ye’s mother nodded and whispered back, ”Yes! It’s a complete transformation, if it weren’t for the same appearance, I would have thought he was an impostor! It’s made these past few days quite unsettling for me!”

Ye Anxin sighed with a smile, ”It’s okay, it’ll be fine with time! I believe, as long as Dad is willing to change, nothing else matters! I just want him to treat Mom better in the future, not let her suffer anymore!”

”Yes! I hope he can keep it up! Not just for three days and then quit!” Ye’s mother nodded, her mouth slightly curved, her eyes betraying contentment and happiness.

Seeing Ye’s mother’s expression, Ye Anxin was also satisfied and smiled! She knew her mother was happy with the changes in her father!

Actually, her mother is truly a good woman! So easily satisfied as well! She married such a man and raised her alone!

Lived for fifty years without experiencing a single happy day!

If Dad truly treats Mom well in the future, her days will improve significantly.

Ye Anxin casually chatted with her mother while cooking!

After lunch, Ye Anxin stood up, ready to leave.

Seeing Ye Anxin about to leave, Father Ye quickly stood up as well, ”Anxin, leaving already? Not staying a while longer?”

”No, I’ve promised Xiao Bai I’d be back early!” Ye Anxin shook her head and shouldered her backpack.

”Alright! Xiao Bai is still young, everything should prioritize him, be careful on the road!” Saying that, he proactively moved to the door to open it for Ye Anxin.

”Then I’ll be off! I’ll come see you again when I have time!” Ye Anxin waved her hand with a smile and turned to leave.

After Ye Anxin left, Father Ye closed the door, and in that instant, a hint of disdain flashed in his eyes!

Just wait, his good days are about to come! He finally can lift his head high!

Ye’s mother didn’t notice Father’s Ye oddity at all, returning to the dining room alone to tidy up the dishes.

......

After Ye Anxin got downstairs and just sat in the business car, the phone in her pants pocket rang.

Ye Anxin took out the phone, glanced at the caller ID, saw it was a call from Yan Qinghan, and answered it!

As soon as the call connected, Yan Qinghan’s casual voice echoed from the other side, ”Hey! Little sister-in-law! What are you up to? Free now?”

Ye Anxin asked plainly, ”What’s up?”

Yan Qinghan laughed and said, ”Are you free on Saturday? My baby said we should go camping, and wants me to invite you all!”

”Camping?” Ye Anxin raised an eyebrow, an idea forming in her mind.

Yan Qinghan nodded eagerly, ”Yeah! Camping! Invite Huo Junmo, Qingshi, and Xingchen! Only the five families!”

”Is Mr. Gu going too? Then won’t Miss Ruan also go!” Listening to Yan Qinghan mentioning Gu Xingchen, Ye Anxin immediately thought of Ruan Zhitong, who was engaged to Gu Xingchen.

It’s been five years, they must be married by now?

Guessing Ye Anxin’s thoughts, Yan Qinghan quickly laughed and explained, ”Oh! You’re overthinking it! Mrs. Gu is Lin Shengxia, not Ruan Zhitong! Rest assured, it’s got nothing to do with Ruan Zhitong!”

Hearing this, Ye Anxin couldn’t help but gasp, ”Lin Shengxia? Wasn’t Mr. Gu engaged to Ruan Zhitong?”

Yan Qinghan laughed and retorted, ”Who told you engagement necessarily leads to marriage?”
