Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 481: Chapter 524: Father Ye’s Unusual Behavior

Ye Anxin patted Ling Yueyue’s hand, comforting her, ”Yueyue, don’t worry! You’re such a good person, heaven won’t mistreat you! Remember how you never thought you’d marry Huo Junmo? Just look at how well Mr. Huo treats you! I’m so envious I could die!”

”Exactly! All my happiness is something I fought for! Honestly, our Mr. Huo is just so good to me! I never knew I could be this happy!” As Ling Yueyue mentioned Huo Junmo, the gloom on her face disappeared, replaced by a radiant glow! It was a glow of complete happiness and contentment.

Seeing Ling Yueyue no longer shrouded in sadness, Ye Anxin secretly breathed a sigh of relief and, avoiding mentioning anything that might sadden Yueyue again, said, ”As long as you’re happy! Let’s continue to work hard together as sisters, things will only get better and better!”

Ling Yueyue playfully poked Ye Anxin on the forehead and said in exasperation, ”Alright, when did you become so sentimental! We’re supposed to be out shopping for clothes for your uncle and Xiao Bai, if you keep talking, it’ll be dark soon! If you don’t end up buying clothes, be careful Xiao Bai doesn’t ignore you!”

”Alright, I get it! Let’s go and look at clothes!” Ye Anxin grinned, and seeing that there wasn’t anything satisfying in this store, she linked arms with Ling Yueyue and left the store, entering another one.

The two strolled and took breaks, and had lunch in a restaurant on the top floor of the mall, after which they continued shopping.

By the afternoon, they were both triumphant, with Ye Anxin having bought many clothes for Xiao Bai and Mu Beiting, especially Xiao Bai—there were so many he could wear a different item every day through the fall!

Ye Anxin bought a lot, but Ling Yueyue wasn’t far behind!

Her hands were full with clothes for Tiantian, Tiantian, and Huo Junmo!

Ever since marrying Huo Junmo, she hadn’t worked and was bored every day, so shopping became her legitimate hobby! Huo Junmo’s supplementary card had no limit, allowing her to swipe as she pleased!

Now, she shopped without holding back, and felt a sense of accomplishment with each purchase! Unlike when she was working, always cautiously afraid she’d run out of money for food, or to send back home to her parents and siblings in the countryside!

Ye Anxin and Ling Yueyue seemed to have an agreement, furiously swiping their cards, buying things! In the end, when their hands couldn’t carry any more, they simply asked the staff to deliver their purchases to their homes.

After a shopping spree, they were both exhausted, panting as they sat down to rest on a bench.

Ling Yueyue, catching her breath and fanning herself with her hand, said, ”Ye Anxin, you really go all out! Spending your uncle’s money without a trace of hesitation! Don’t you ever feel guilty?”

Ye Anxin rolled her eyes at her, retorting, ”You’re one to talk! Aren’t you the same!”

Ling Yueyue sighed exaggeratedly and said helplessly, ”Sigh! It’s a habit I developed over the past five years, can’t change it even if I tried. I can’t find a sense of self unless I buy something every day! I’m a glutton for punishment; when I was working day and night, I thought it was hard and dreamed of a better life. Now that I’m here, I find the old days had their charm! Sometimes, I even despise myself!”

Ye Anxin pursed her lips into a smile and teased, ”You’ve got the ailment of affluence, you’ll get used to it! If you really can’t, just find a job to kill some time! You’re not like me, I can stay idle, even alone at home with just a book! I know you better, you can’t sit still!”

Ling Yueyue replied nonchalantly, ”Finding a job is impossible! I’m planning to get a shop, start a small business, not to make big money, just to pass the time!”

At this, Ye Anxin’s eyes lit up, eagerly asking, ”Really? Do you have a plan? What kind of shop?”

”I...!” Ling Yueyue was about to answer, but before she could get the words out, Ye Anxin’s phone in her pocket started ringing insistently.

Ye Anxin took out her phone, glanced at the caller ID, saw it was Mother Ye, and answered, ”Mom, what do you need?”

Mother Ye hesitated for a moment before saying, ”Anxin! What are you doing? Are you busy?”

Ye Anxin shook her head, ”Not busy! What’s up?”

Mother Ye remained silent for a moment before continuing, ”Well, since you’re back, when do you have time to bring Xiao Bai home for a meal? It’s been five years, and I’ve never had a meal with Xiao Bai! If he’s not comfortable with our home’s environment, we can eat out! Your father also mentioned it, after all, he’s our family’s grandson, our only grandchild, we should at least meet him once!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anxin readily agreed, ”Sure! I’ll go back and talk to Xiao Bai, then set a date, and we’ll all go out for a meal! It’s my oversight, I’ve been back so long and didn’t bring Xiao Bai to see you!”

”Really? I’ll wait for your good news!” With that, she happily hung up the call.

Ling Yueyue, sitting close to Ye Anxin, deliberately eavesdropped as Ye Anxin answered the call, catching every word of her conversation with Mother Ye!

After Ye Anxin hung up, Ling Yueyue teased with a grin, ”Did your dad take the wrong medicine, suddenly recognizing Xiao Bai as his grandson? In these past five years of visiting Auntie, I’ve never heard him say anything like that!”

Her words weren’t entirely without reason!

Five years ago, after Ye Anxin disappeared, I stood in her place, visiting Father and Mother Ye whenever I could, as she and Ye Anxin grew up together, and Mother Ye treated her like a daughter.

Ye Anxin was gone, and she couldn’t bear to see Mother Ye lonely. Each visit, she’d bring many things and even sneak living expenses under her pillow, despite being refused.

Having gone often, she knew well Father Ye’s attitude towards Xiao Bai!

Every time Mother Ye mentioned Xiao Bai or asked her to secretly check on him, Father Ye would disdainfully say Xiao Bai wasn’t his grandson! Throughout, he showed not an ounce of emotion towards Xiao Bai!

Perhaps in his mind, Father Ye never acknowledged Anxin as his daughter, hence not recognizing the child she bore as his grandchild.

She couldn’t understand what turn Father Ye’s mind took to suddenly claim Xiao Bai as his grandson?
