Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 482: Chapter 525: Aloof Personality

Ye Anxin shook her head indifferently and said, ”I don’t know! My mom said that my dad has changed a lot in the past two days, not only being more diligent but also helping her with housework. He doesn’t hang out with his low-life friends anymore and seems like a completely different person! I’m wondering if my dad has had a change of heart, realizing that for over twenty years he hasn’t fulfilled his responsibilities as a father and husband, and now wants to make amends? Moreover, although I’m not my dad’s biological daughter, in the end, I’m his only daughter, and Xiao Bai is his only grandson. He’ll still have to rely on us for support in his old age, so it’s normal for him to change his attitude now!”

Ling Yueyue rested her chin in her hand, lightly tapping her slender forefinger, and said thoughtfully, ”It’s easy to change a river but hard to change one’s nature. Even after your uncle sent him to the gambling rehab center for so long, and he no longer gambles, his personality still hasn’t changed a bit—still lazy, idle, and unwilling to work! Do you really believe he changed overnight?”

Ye Anxin waved her hand, naively saying, ”Oh, human nature is inherently good, let’s always think positively! Maybe my dad has genuinely had a change of heart! Whether his intentions are genuine or not, he’s being nice to my mom anyway! Besides, there’s no reason for him to deliberately treat us well!”

Ling Yueyue poked Ye Anxin’s forehead forcefully, giving her a sideways glance, ”You! You’re just too innocent and think everything is so simple!”

”Alright, alright, let’s stop talking about it, I’m hungry! Let’s eat and then go back! I promised Xiao Bai to accompany him for a walk tonight!” With that, she stopped discussing the previous topic with Ling Yueyue, taking her hand and heading toward the elevator!

Looking at Ye Anxin’s profile, Ling Yueyue sighed inwardly!

She really couldn’t understand, how Anxin, who grew up in such a family, could have such a sunny, objective, and cheerful personality!

In fact, her own upbringing was much simpler than Anxin’s, yet her personality was stronger, seeing through a lot of things and never believing in nonsense like ’human nature is inherently good’!

She believed that character defines a person, and habits formed at three last till eighty! Father Ye is already at this age, how could he really turn over a new leaf?

Looking into it further, she also realized that Father Ye had no reason to pretend to be nice to Mother Ye! What would be his purpose? To deceive Mother Ye out of her money? That was impossible! All of Mother Ye’s money in this life was given to him, no matter where she’d hide it, he could always find it, so there was no need to deceive her!

Could it be that he really had a change of heart? Became virtuous?

No matter how Ling Yueyue racked her brains, she couldn’t fathom the mystery behind it.

When they reached the restaurant on the top floor, Ling Yueyue called her family’s driver, and after the two finished eating, they went downstairs and got into her family’s car to go home!

When they got home, Xiao Bai had already finished his dinner and was eagerly sitting on the garden swing, watching the door.

When he saw the door open and Ye Anxin walk in, his eyes lit up, and he jumped off the swing, running happily towards Ye Anxin.

Ye Anxin smiled as she patted Xiao Bai’s head, ”Xiao Bai, have you been waiting for mommy?”

Hearing this, Xiao Bai blushed, awkwardly turned his head, not daring to look at Ye Anxin.

”Come on, let’s take a walk in the garden, help digest the food before going to bed!” Taking in Xiao Bai’s expression, Ye Anxin held his hand and led him toward the garden.

She knew very well that Xiao Bai’s personality was very similar to Mu Beiting’s - aloof, cold, reserved, but also very shy!

Every time something touched his heart, he’d blush and then look elsewhere embarrassed!

Walking hand in hand with Xiao Bai in the garden, Ye Anxin asked curiously, ”Xiao Bai, where’s your dad?”

Xiao Bai replied honestly, ”Daddy said he had some matters to deal with and went to the study!”

”Oh!” Ye Anxin responded lightly, then thought for a moment and asked tentatively, ”Xiao Bai, how about mommy takes you to see your grandparents someday?”

”Grandparents?” Xiao Bai frowned! These four words were utterly unfamiliar to him!

In the five years, the only relatives he had contact with were just his dad, and besides his dad, his dad’s few good friends, Uncle Yan, Uncle Xiang, Uncle Huo, and Uncle Gu! Apart from these people, he never knew he had any other relatives!

Even his mom was only recently reunited!

So, he didn’t know he had grandparents and had never met them!

Ye Anxin nodded and said warmly, ”Yes! Grandparents! They’re mommy’s parents! Xiao Bai has grown so big, yet he’s never met them! Mommy wants to take you to meet them! Grandma said she really misses Xiao Bai!”

Xiao Bai raised his head, looked at Ye Anxin, and frowned, hesitatingly asking, ”Do I have to meet them?”

Seeing Xiao Bai’s unwilling expression, Ye Anxin’s heart twinged slightly, and with a hint of sadness, she asked, ”Does Xiao Bai not want to meet them?”

Xiao Bai hesitated for a moment, then followed his heart and nodded!

Ye Anxin asked, puzzled, ”Why?”

Xiao Bai pursed his lips, not very happy as he said, ”I don’t like meeting strangers!”

Ye Anxin quickly corrected, ”They’re not strangers, they’re Xiao Bai’s family!”

Xiao Bai raised an eyebrow and said matter-of-factly, ”People I’ve never met are strangers! Although I share a blood relationship with them, it doesn’t mean anything! The ones closest to me are only dad and mom!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anxin was slightly stunned, lowered her head to look at Xiao Bai’s serious face, forced a smile, and asked, ”Have you met your grandfather then?”

”No!” Xiao Bai shook his head, answering bluntly!

”...” Ye Anxin quietly stared at Xiao Bai’s serious face for a while, sighed inwardly, and said helplessly, ”Alright! Since Xiao Bai doesn’t want to meet strangers, mommy won’t force you! Mommy will wait for you to gradually adjust, and when you’re ready, we’ll visit your grandparents!”

Xiao Bai pursed his lips, lowered his head, and said nothing.

Ye Anxin patted Xiao Bai’s head, deliberately changing the subject, saying, ”Come on! Mommy will walk with you in the garden, and later we’ll go back to your room for a bath and sleep!”

”Mm!” Xiao Bai nodded, accompanying Ye Anxin for another stroll in the garden.

Ye Anxin lowered her head, looking at Xiao Bai’s delicate face under the garden light, feeling a mix of helplessness and heartache!

The environment Xiao Bai grew up in shaped his solitary nature, unlike children of the same age, he cared little for other so-called family members except for her. Both in appearance and character, he was just like Beiting!

In the end, the reason why Xiao Bai turned out like this had a lot to do with her!

If she had stayed by Xiao Bai’s side back then, maybe he wouldn’t have turned out this way!

Thinking of this, Ye Anxin’s nose tingled slightly, and tears unknowingly welled up in her eyes.
