The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 639: Chapter 627: My Daughter Is a Vicious Supporting Female Character 27

When Zou Jingjing went to audition, she noticed that people were looking at her with curiosity.

She also found several female actors gossiping about her behind her back.

However, Zou Jingjing was fearless now, so she wasn’t afraid of people talking about her.

This time, Zou Jingjing was auditioning for the role of the second female lead, a red-clothed heroine.

She had fully prepared and appeared in a red dress.

When she stood in the audition room, Director Guan felt a flash of brightness before his eyes.

Mainly because Zou Jingjing’s appearance and temperament resembled the red-clothed heroine in the script, who takes pleasure in revenge and gratitude.

Afterward, Director Guan asked Zou Jingjing to act out some scenes, and then he smiled and said, ”Go back and wait for our notice.”

Zou Jingjing said goodbye to Director Guan and left.

Director Guan then asked the screenwriter next to him, ”What do you think?”

The screenwriter was also positive about Zou Jingjing, ”I think she’s suitable.”

The producer whispered from the side, ”Mr. Xiao, the second, is willing to invest, but he wants to swap the role of the second female lead to Zou Xuexuan.”

Director Guan frowned.

The screenwriter looked at the producer with a smirk, ”It seems you haven’t seen the latest news. I suggest you look it up online.”

The producer was confused.

His assistant softly reminded him, ”Yesterday, Young Master Xiao made a generous offer just for Zou Jingjing.”

The producer then kept silent.

This kind of internal strife within wealthy families, a small producer like him definitely wouldn’t dare to intervene.

Director Guan gave a slight chuckle.

He had already made up his mind.

Considering that the movie could be made only because of the Zhou Family’s investment, and also because the post-production special effects needed the Zhou Family head to find the world’s best effects team, the Zhou Family’s CEO had specifically nominated Zou Jingjing for the role of the second female lead. Given her image and acting skill passed the test, Director Guan would be crazy to offend the CEO of the Zhou Family just for Mr. Xiao’s unclear amount of investment.

Zou Jingjing went back after the audition and ran into Anning at her home.

Anning had specifically come to find Zou Jingjing.

Upon seeing Zou Jingjing return, she entered the room to talk with her.

Once they sat down, Anning asked Zou Jingjing, ”Do you want to change your last name?”

Zou Jingjing was stunned for a moment.

Anning chuckled, ”If you don’t want to, forget about it. Your last name is your personal choice.”

”It’s not that,” Zou Jingjing quickly shook her head. ”I don’t mind changing it, but why did you suddenly bring up changing last names?”

Anning then explained briefly, ”I wanted to mention it as soon as I got back, but I was afraid it might hurt you if I brought it up right away. Now it’s just the two of us left in the Sheng Family, and I actually hoped you could take the Sheng surname.”

Zou Jingjing no longer hesitated, ”Then let’s change it. I want to change my surname. I want to be named Sheng.”

She seemed to recall something, ”Actually, Grandma was most worried about me before she died. She seemed to understand that Zou Huai De had harmed my mother. When I was a child, she always said she was sorry to you. When she died, she held my hand and said how she pitied me, and how good it would have been if you were there. Grandma also advised me not to confront Liu Yue Mei head-on, to be careful of her, and also, if there was ever a chance to leave that home, she told me not to worry about her.”

Thinking of the elderly lady who raised her, Zou Jingjing felt a bit sad, ”Actually, my childhood with Grandma was not difficult; she was very kind to me.”

Anning thought of the elderly woman and felt quite mixed emotions.

Actually, that old lady was really a good person, it was just unfortunate to have borne Zou Huai De, such a horrible person, and ultimately implicated her to die early.

Anning knew that Zou Jingjing’s grandmother passed away so early entirely because Zou Huai De did not care for her.

After Zou Huai De married Liu Yue Mei, he began to scheme, and by that time, he actually wasn’t short of money anymore.

However, he was not filial to his rural mother, not only did he not bring the old lady to live in the city, but he also gave her very little money to live on, even when Zou Jingjing was living with the elderly, Zou Huai De was unwilling to give money.

This person, really was a complete scumbag.

”After the show is over, let’s go to your grandmother’s grave and pay our respects.”

Anning touched Zou Jingjing’s head.

Zou Jingjing nodded.

Since Zou Jingjing was willing to change her surname, Anning didn’t delay and immediately took Zou Jingjing to get the household registration book and change her surname.

After coming of age, Zou Jingjing looked for ways to separate her household registration from the Zou Family. Having her own household registration book made her the head of the household, which made changing her surname more convenient.

Zou Jingjing changed her surname to Sheng, and from then on, she was called Sheng Jingjing.

As her name on the household registration book was changed, her ID card also needed to be updated, but it would take a few more days to get a new one.

Getting the new household registration book made Sheng Jingjing particularly happy.

Anning thought that Sheng Jingjing probably didn’t want to have too much involvement with Zou Huai De either.

When her grandma died, she actually understood that Zou Huai De was very unfilial to the elderly, and deep down, she must have harbored hatred for Zou Huai De over the years.

Anning and Sheng Jingjing first went to a restaurant for a meal, then returned to Anning’s place.

As they approached the entrance, they saw a black car parked not far away.

The car door opened, and Sheng Jingjing saw the overbearing boss from yesterday stepping out of the car.

Yes, he stepped out.

Sheng Jingjing was startled.

Then, she saw him walking up to her mom.

”You, you can walk?”

Xiao Yuan nodded at Sheng Jingjing and then stood smiling next to Anning.

Anning pointed at Xiao Yuan and introduced him to Sheng Jingjing: ”This is Xiao Yuan, mom’s friend. Just call him Uncle Xiao.”

Uh?

Sheng Jingjing’s eyes widened as she sized up Xiao Yuan.

She was speechless.

She thought to herself, no wonder he was so nice to her yesterday, it made her think this man was intending to woo her, but it turned out he was aiming for her mom.

”Uncle Xiao.”

Sheng Jingjing still obediently called out.

Xiao Yuan smiled at her: ”Good girl, come to uncle if you ever need anything.”

Anning opened the door for Xiao Yuan and Sheng Jingjing to enter.

As Sheng Jingjing walked in, she wondered, this one aims to woo her mom, what about the other two?

Those two were even more generous, one offering a shop and the other a company; probably they, like Mr. Xiao, were also plotting to woo her mom.

Thinking this, Sheng Jingjing felt a bit of sympathy for Xiao Yuan.

The three of them entered the house and Sheng Jingjing went to pour tea for Xiao Yuan.

Xiao Yuan sat on the sofa talking with Anning.

”How do you plan to deal with Zou Huai De?”

Xiao Yuan didn’t hold back in front of Sheng Jingjing and directly asked Anning.

Anning thought for a moment: ”I’ve recently looked into some things. Zou Huai De wants to develop a resort, and he’s heavily invested in it. If it fails, it will be tough for him.”

Xiao Yuan immediately understood Anning’s plan.

She planned to target this resort development.

”They say the location of the resort is good, with a hot spring nearby.”

Xiao Yuan had also obtained firsthand information and discussed it with Anning.

Anning nodded: ”Yes, but I went there a few days ago, and it looks like the resort project might fall through.”

Just then, Sheng Jingjing came over with the tea, overhearing and freezing in place: ”Why? I’ve heard about this too, and it seemed that Zou Huai De was very confident.”

Anning chuckled: ”Zou Huai De had geologists survey the area before starting the development, but unfortunately their survey technology was subpar. The site contains several ancient tombs dating back a thousand years, and there’s also a pollution source on the nearby mountain, among other issues...”

Anning pointed out Zou Huai De’s oversights one by one: ”He’s been ambitious but lacking ability, and acts too rashly. Liu Yue Mei doesn’t understand business and only flatters him, never advising him properly. As he gets older, he becomes more reckless. This time, he’s taken a tumble he’ll never recover from.”

Anning spoke lightly, but Sheng Jingjing detected an underlying intensity in her words.
