The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 636: Chapter 624: My Daughter Is a Vicious Supporting Female Character 24

The girl who purposely came to oppose Zou Jingjing was Xiao Nana from a collateral branch of the Xiao Family.

Speaking of which, her family was actually distantly related to Xiao Kai’s, but because the girl herself was quite pretty, sweet-talking, and her parents knew how to ingratiate themselves, they managed to make Mrs. Xiao very happy. As a result, the two families became close, and the Xiao Family took good care of Xiao Nana’s family business.

Xiao Nana considered herself close to Xiao Kai. After Xiao Kai and Zou Xuexuan got together, Xiao Nana started to cozy up to Zou Xuexuan.

Her dislike for Zou Jingjing was also a result of Zou Xuexuan’s brainwashing.

”Do you think I have my eyes on your cousin or something?”

Zou Jingjing, agitated by Xiao Nana’s words, was unforgiving in her response: ”Who even knows who you are, talking about your cousin – who knows if it’s a person or a ghost.”

”Not admitting it now?”

Xiao Nana placed her hands on her hips and started a verbal fight with Zou Jingjing: ”Who knows who was shamelessly chasing after my cousin back then, shamelessly trying to steal a man from Sister Xuanxuan, acting like a mistress... Not only are you a mistress, but you’re also a poor one at that. I’m telling you, unless you buy all the clothes in this store today, whatever piece you’re interested in, I’ll buy it. I’ll make sure you have no clothes to wear.”

The two of them argued furiously, prompting none of the shop assistants to dare to intervene.

It was clear that neither of them was easy to deal with.

You could tell that Xiao Nana was a missy from a distinguished family, and Zou Jingjing was also recognized by them – a Queen of Heaven superstar, not an easy one to handle either.

”You think I’ll fall for that?”

Zou Jingjing let out a cold laugh: ”You want to provoke me into spending recklessly, well I’m not falling for it. You don’t earn your own money, naturally you’d spend it however you want. My money is hard-earned, and I won’t waste it on clothes that I might not even have the chance to wear.”

”You’re just a poor wretch, shameless...”

Xiao Nana continued to hurl insults.

But before she could finish, the door of the shop was pushed open, and a group of men in black ushered in a man seated in a wheelchair.

Despite being in a wheelchair, the man’s aura was not in the least bit diminished.

Moreover, the man was exceptionally attractive, the sort that made one forget the mundane at first sight.

Xiao Nana stuttered in shock upon seeing the man, ”Bi-, Big cousin, why, why are you here?”

The man’s expression was somewhat gloomy. He raised his hand slightly, and the assistant behind pushed the wheelchair forward a few steps.

Naturally, this man was Xiao Yuan.

After leaving Anning’s place, he saw Zou Jingjing on his way back.

Xiao Yuan thought considering Zou Jingjing was Anning’s daughter, and he was Anning’s lover, by proxy, Zou Jingjing was more or less his daughter.

His own daughter would naturally be someone he’d want to earn some goodwill points with.

So, Xiao Yuan ordered the car to follow Zou Jingjing, then saw her enter a clothing store.

Originally he didn’t want to go in, just waiting outside for a while to later create an accidental meeting scenario with Zou Jingjing.

However, he ended up witnessing Zou Jingjing and Xiao Nana’s altercation.

As a parent, it’s natural to come forward when your child is arguing with someone.

Hence, Xiao Yuan instructed the assistant to push him into the store.

Xiao Yuan looked at Xiao Nana with a cold face, ”Focus on your studies when you have the time. Don’t go looking for trouble and getting into arguments.”

Xiao Nana, frightened, shrank her neck and dared not say a word.

When Xiao Yuan turned his head towards Zou Jingjing, his face broke into a smile, still that paternal smile he thought was incredibly amiable: ”You are Jingjing, right?”

Zou Jingjing, dazed, nodded her head, unsure what the imposing man intended to do.

It didn’t seem like he was there to stand up for Xiao Nana.

And moreover, why was he smiling at her? She didn’t even know him.

Xiao Yuan scanned the clothes in the shop and instructed the salesperson, ”Pack up all the clothes in this lady’s size and send them to her.”

The shop assistant jumped in shock, worried about making a mistake she pointed at Zou Jingjing, ”Si-, Sir, do you mean this young lady?”

Xiao Yuan nodded, ”Yes, I remember your brand also does accessories and shoes. After packing up the clothes, match the rest – shoes, bags, etc., and send them all directly to Miss Zou’s residence.”

After giving his instructions, Xiao Yuan had the assistant go make the payment.

With a smile, he turned to Zou Jingjing, ”Are you satisfied with how I handled this?”

Zou Jingjing was stupefied.

She had never experienced something like this before.

She had only ever thought that the scene of a domineering boss impulsively buying out a whole store was something from the television, never existing in real life.

Yet today, she had witnessed such a person.

Truth be told, Zou Jingjing felt very conflicted.

Indescribable emotions surged within her.

Anyway, seeing how freely this gentleman spent money, she couldn’t help but think, when could she ever have that much money?

But then again, Zou Jingjing thought, even if she did have that much money, she wouldn’t spend it so recklessly.

After all, the days before Sister Hong discovered her were truly hard, there was a time when she almost couldn’t afford to eat.

People who have experienced such hardships wouldn’t waste money like that when they have it.

”I... you don’t need to do this, it’s too extravagant.”

Zou Jingjing waved her hand to indicate she didn’t want those things.

Yet, Xiao Yuan laughed and said, ”Consider it my way of apologizing. The Xiao family has raised such a disgraceful child, it’s our fault as parents. If the child has spoken out of turn, we must compensate somewhat, don’t you agree?”

After speaking, Xiao Yuan pulled a long face and scolded Xiao Nana, ”Go away now, you’re embarrassing yourself.”

Xiao Nana cried.

What the heck.

This was her older cousin, yet he sided with an outsider rather than with her.

And then, looking at Zou Jingjing’s face, she cried even louder.

This fox spirit must have failed to entice her second cousin and turned to seduce her big cousin instead.

Weeping, Xiao Nana ran away.

Zou Jingjing wanted to say something more, but Xiao Yuan had already left with his assistant.

Sister Hong, watching from the sidelines, was also quite dumbfounded. After Xiao Yuan had left, Sister Hong patted her chest and said, ”That scared me to death, Jingjing, what do you think this gentleman meant? Does he fancy you or what?”

Zou Jingjing quickly said, ”Don’t talk nonsense. He didn’t make any demands; we can’t think too ill of people.”

Then, Zou Jingjing discussed with the shop assistant, ”Can those clothes be returned? There’s so many, I really can’t wear them all.”

The shop assistant kept a smiling face: ”Teacher Zou, they really can’t be returned. We’re also unable to contact that gentleman, so please don’t make it difficult for us.”

The shop assistant was actually quite happy; selling so many clothes meant a nice commission for them.

Helpless, Zou Jingjing had no choice but to go home with Sister Hong.

Not long after she returned, the clothes arrived at her doorstep.

The clothes, bags, shoes, and everything else piled up all over the room.

The shop assistant even politely asked Zou Jingjing, ”Teacher Zou, do you need us to help organize these?”

Zou Jingjing weakly waved her hand: ”No need.”

Xiao Yuan felt pretty pleased with himself, thinking he had stood up for Zou Jingjing and also saved face for his child in the process.

He thought that in the future he would buy more clothes for the child to avoid being ridiculed for looking poor; his children needed to uphold their dignity.

Xiao Yuan also planned to take the child out to meet more people soon, to ensure they wouldn’t be bullied again.

His plans were beautiful, but he didn’t know that someone was already fuming because of him.

After arriving in the Capital, Jiang Shaohui and his group felt somewhat daunted.

Not daring to directly recognize Anning, they decided to first learn about Zou Jingjing’s schedule and preferences, get familiar with her, and then recognize Anning through her. With the child as a buffer, they figured Anning wouldn’t turn against them.

Thinking this, the five of them began to investigate Zou Jingjing.

Jiang Shaohui had a company in the Capital as well, and he wasn’t idle upon arriving.

He had to work, and just as he was looking at a report, his assistant came in: ”Mr. Jiang, just now, Xiao Yuan from the Xiao Family made a generous gesture for Miss Zou...”

The assistant relayed the information they had found to Jiang Shaohui.

Upon hearing it, Jiang Shaohui’s brows knitted tightly.

He cursed in his heart, angry that he was a step behind someone else who had bought things for his own child.

His family wasn’t short on money, yet it allowed someone else to show off their wealth in front of his child—a failure as a parent.

Moreover, he certainly didn’t want his spirited daughter to be harmed by a crippled man.

Jiang Shaohui was quite angry, but also concerned whether his child might feel favorable towards that Xiao fellow because of this incident.

After all, most young girls like pretty clothes, bags, and the like.

The more he thought about it, the more unsettled Jiang Shaohui felt.

Thinking back on the hardships Zou Jingjing endured when she was younger, he thought, no, this won’t do.

Jiang Shaohui also recalled how he had read parenting books in the last few days to get in touch with Zou Jingjing, and a line from one of them seemed quite reasonable to him—girls need to be raised in luxury.

Jiang Shaohui thought that delicate and soft girls definitely need to be raised in luxury, pampered and cherished.

So, Jiang Shaohui told his assistant: ”Buy that store and send it to Jingjing.”
