The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 634: Chapter 622: My Daughter Is a Vicious Supporting Female Character 22

During dinner preparation, Anning kept bossing Liu Yue Mei and her daughter around to do various chores, but Anning took on the role of the main cook herself.

By the time the meal was served, Liu Yue Mei and Zou Xuexuan were too tired to even move.

Meanwhile, the other three families had already gathered together and were chatting away merrily.

Smelling the aroma of the food, Yu Jing couldn’t help but come over first: ”This food smells so good, it must taste amazing.”

Ai Le is an actress; she needs to maintain her figure and usually doesn’t have dinner.

Tonight, she just wanted to go through the motions, but after taking a bite, she couldn’t help but take some more, and kept eating more after finishing each portion.

Sun Weida was even more voracious, eating at an incredibly fast pace.

The others were all too busy eating heartily to care about anything else.

Anning served some food for Zou Jingjing and urged her to eat quickly.

Liu Yue Mei and Zou Xuexuan were putting on airs and didn’t want to come over, but having worked for quite a while, they were now both tired and hungry. The smells wafting over were irresistible, and they finally gave in and had some as well.

After the meal, Ai Le and a few others wanted to help wash the dishes.

Liu Yue Mei, in a display of good hosting and enthusiasm, quickly waved them off: ”Don’t worry about it, please sit down. It’s not proper for guests in my home to wash dishes. Leave them, we’ll wash them later.”

Then, she didn’t expect that the guests would really just leave them unwashed.

After sitting for a while longer, Anning and Zou Jingjing got up to say goodbye.

Then, the other three families also took their leave.

Looking at the mess in the room, Liu Yue Mei and Zou Xuexuan really felt like cursing.

Back at home, Zou Jingjing clung to Anning, asking her to teach her to sing.

Anning gave her a few pointers before excusing herself to rest in her room, saying she was tired.

It wasn’t that Anning didn’t want to teach Zou Jingjing, but An Xin, who had been absent for so long, suddenly appeared.

”What’s going on?”

Anning entered the bedroom, covered the camera with some stuff, turned off the audio recording equipment, and then sat cross-legged on the bed to talk with An Xin.

An Xin was particularly anxious.

”An anomaly has been detected in the world.”

Anning’s eyes narrowed slightly: ”So what if it’s been discovered? Every world I’ve been to has been sealed by me. They can’t cause any damage even if they want to.”

An Xin was still worried: ”But they’ll be able to detect our location soon, and if they come after us, we’ll be in grave danger.”

Anning clenched her right hand tightly: ”Then let them come.”

Anning had been holding back a lot of anger.

She really had no good impression of the Main God at all.

To extract World Power, the Main God had wreaked havoc on the normal operation of the worlds.

Previously, he controlled Anning to be cannon fodder in little worlds, dying tragically in all sorts of ways. Even though Anning was clear-headed, she was perpetually controlled, only able to do things that went against her heart.

After her resistance proved futile, she played smart, appearing to have accepted her fate, not requiring the Main God to control her much, as she would take on the tasks set by the Main God herself, facing tragic deaths head-on, no matter the outcome.

Once the Main God was lulled into complacency by her, Anning began to secretly learn various skills.

Luckily, having traveled through enough worlds, she learned a variety of skills, found the Main God’s weak points, and ultimately conspired with An Xin to rebel and break free from the Main God’s control.

After escaping the Main God’s control, Anning wanted revenge.

Now, as she traveled from one world to another, she helped those wronged by death accomplish tasks, slapping faces, all to guide the worlds back on track, so that the Main God could no longer extract World Power from them.

Anning believed that one day, she would starve the Main God of power and then annihilate him.

Currently, Anning had sealed many little worlds and received plenty of Merit Power from them. Her abilities had largely recovered, and she wasn’t afraid even if the Main God came looking.

However, Anning also knew that it was impossible for the Main God to come himself.

It seemed like the Main God was also restricted, unable to reach these little worlds himself. Even if anomalies were detected, he would send others to investigate.

Anning was even less afraid of those sent by the Main God.

She thought, let them come—one by one, she would fight them; two at a time, she would deal with both.

Additionally, Anning had noticed something unusual about the world she was currently in.

Take Sheng Anning for example—a rightful heir of the Sheng Family, clearly well-educated for many years, and yet ultimately met her demise at the hands of the petty Zou Huai De. That seemed very strange.

Moreover, Sheng Anning was not alone; the Sheng Family had many old friends, and Sheng Anning also had five siblings close as brothers and sisters. Even without her, any one of them should have been able to look after Zou Jingjing enough to prevent her tragic end.

But, none of them did anything for Zou Jingjing.

Furthermore, Anning thought back to the valley she had entered when she first arrived in this world.

The arrays there and her entrapment for over twenty years all pointed to a mysterious force in this world.

Anning suddenly recalled the time when she was acting as the ancestor of the Tang Family in another life, where she was also controlled.

Thinking of these things made Anning want to look into Zou Xuexuan properly.

Her guess was that Zou Xuexuan was the central thread of this world.

As the female lead of the world, Zou Xuexuan must have the aura of the main character.

However, Anning hadn’t found anything unusual about Zou Xuexuan.

She was wondering, what on earth was going on with Zou Xuexuan?

And what on earth happened when Sheng Anning was pushed off the cliff years ago?

After thinking for a while, Anning couldn’t figure out the reasons.

But, she took action.

She jumped out of bed and quickly sprinted towards the door.

In front of the door, a shadow flitted by.

Anning quickly gave chase.

The shadow moved incredibly fast, but Anning was no slower, and it didn’t take long before she caught up to the shadow.

Anning struck out rapidly, her palm infused with Confinement Technique power, striking towards the shadow’s shoulder.

The shadow hastened to dodge and when he turned around, a ball of Spiritual Fire shot towards Anning.

Anning sighed slightly, and the ball of Spiritual Fire disappeared without a trace.

She could now make out the appearance of the shadow.

It was a person, someone with ordinary features, the kind that would be immediately drowned out in a crowd and unnoticed.

However, this person’s eyes were particularly bright.

”Task Taker?”

He looked at Anning with a hoarse voice and asked.

A trace of interest rose in Anning’s eyes: ”You too?”

The man nodded.

”What task are you performing?”

Anning asked another question.

The man didn’t answer, but he reminded Anning: ”What’s wrong with your system, publishing all tasks incorrectly? We’re here to stop the Destroyers emerging in the world, to maintain the normal operation of the world. Why are you instead helping the supporting female character? Even if the body you’ve crossed into is the mother of the supporting female character, you can’t abandon public duty for private interests.”

”I see.”

Anning laughed: ”I didn’t know what our tasks were. Maybe the system really did publish them wrongly. I’ll ask the system later; it’s not too late to get back on track now, is it?”

The Task Taker said, ”It’s not too late. Remember, you must protect the male and female protagonists to ensure the world continues to function normally. If the protagonists cannot grow according to the design, the entire world will cease to exist, understand?”

”I understand.”

Anning quickly agreed.

As she was talking to the Task Taker, she commanded An Xin: ”An Xin, quickly absorb his system.”

”As you command.”

An Xin, while Anning distracted the Task Taker, directly took control of the Task Taker’s system and rapidly absorbed its power.

Seeing that An Xin had absorbed the other party’s system, Anning smiled and struck at the Task Taker.

She grabbed the Task Taker’s neck in one move, and at the same time used the Confinement Technique to trap the Task Taker’s soul.

She looked up at the sky, communicating with the world’s Little Heavenly Dao.

”Tell me, what exactly is going on?”

Little Heavenly Dao shivered.

The Task Taker in Anning’s hands had been here for a long time.

He had always been ensuring the interests of the male and female protagonists.

To ensure Zou Huai De and Liu Yue Mei could give birth to Zou Xuexuan, this Task Taker caused so many incidents; he cursed the Sheng Family, causing the direct descendants to die untimely deaths, and die young.

When Sheng Anning encountered Zou Huai De, it was also this Task Taker who gave her a push, leading Sheng Anning to marry Zou Huai De.

After Sheng Anning married Zou Huai De, she had attempted several times to reveal her identity to him, tell him she was wealthy, had connections, and could support Zou Huai De’s business.

But, due to the Task Taker’s interference, she was always unable to speak out.

It was also the Task Taker who took action when Sheng Anning had an accident, leading Sheng Anning to be pushed off the cliff by Zou Huai De.

There were also five other people, whenever they wanted to come back looking for Sheng Anning, they would encounter all sorts of problems.

Apart from the stuff regarding Zou Jingjing, to ensure that the male protagonist Xiao Kai would inherit the Xiao Group, the Task Taker also arranged an accident for Xiao Kai’s brother, Xiao Yuan, turning him into a disabled person.

The world’s Heavenly Dao actually wanted to kick the Task Taker out long ago.

However, the system that the Task Taker brought with him could greatly interfere with Heavenly Dao, preventing it from operating normally each time.

They had thrown this world into chaos, and ironically, Heavenly Dao was helpless against them.

If not for Anning’s arrival, perhaps the Heavenly Dao of this side would ultimately disintegrate.

After conversing with Heavenly Dao, Anning held up the Task Taker: ”Here, let me give you some energy to absorb, otherwise kicking him out is also fine.”

Little Heavenly Dao silently thought for a while, then decided to make use of the rubbish and absorbed the energy from the Task Taker before kicking him out.

Anning breathed a sigh of relief.

She was thinking, the Task Taker who was just kicked out must have been a novice, otherwise, how could he have been so easily caught?

With this Task Taker resolved, there might still be countless others to come in the future.

Anning swung a fist and was already prepared for battle.
