The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 619: Chapter 608: My Daughter Is a Vicious Supporting Female Character 8

Anning first went to a famous pharmacy in Capital, where she picked up some medicine and then visited the supermarket.

When she returned to Zou Jingjing’s residence carrying a bag of medicinal herbs and another of ingredients, Sister Hong and Anna had also come back.

Anning first stored the medicinal herbs then entered the kitchen with the ingredients she bought to cook.

Zou Jingjing couldn’t cook; all the kitchenware in her kitchen was new, and although there wasn’t anything missing, it looked lifeless.

Anning first washed the kitchenware, then poked her head out to ask Sister Hong and Anna, ”What would you like to eat, rice or noodles?”

”Rice.”

”Noodles.”

Two different answers from the two people.

Anning then filled the rice cooker with rice and water and started to knead dough for the noodles.

After letting the dough rest, she began to cook dishes.

Anning remembered Anna liked ramen, and Zou Jingjing’s taste was also quite strong, so she decided to make beef ramen.

She first stewed beef, then quickly prepared a few dishes, and began making noodles.

The other three gathered at the kitchen doorway, staring in astonishment as Anning’s hands flew, magically turning the dough into thin noodles. When the water boiled, she tossed the noodles into the bubbling water, curving beautifully.

Sister Hong swallowed her saliva, ”I, I want to eat noodles too.”

Anning had Zou Jingjing bring the stir-fried dishes to the table; by then, the noodles had been cooked. She took three large bowls, scooped some noodles into each, and then added beef and broth.

The ramen Anning made had clear soup and white noodles, with the beef looking bright red, a strong color contrast, and tasted exceptionally good.

Outside the kitchen, the three could smell the fragrant aroma wafting through, compelling them to salivate.

Anning sprinkled some green scallions and coriander in each bowl, then called out to the three outside, ”Come and serve the meal.”

She herself scooped a bowl of rice from the rice cooker and followed them out.

The dining table was laid with four dishes; three-flavored cucumber, sweet and sour ribs, mushrooms with vegetable hearts, and the spicy chicken shreds, all home-cooked yet artfully presented, looking quite beautiful.

The four dishes not only looked good but tasted even better, almost making them swallow their tongues.

A bite of food followed by a bite of noodles, it really felt like living the good life, and the taste of the food was amazing, hardly like anything from the mortal world, possibly even better than the heavenly Jadescent Nectar.

After eating their fill, Sister Hong slumped in her chair, touching her stomach, ”This life, I wouldn’t trade it for being an immortal.”

Anning cooked quite a lot, but the four of them polished it all off, even diet-conscious Zou Jingjing let herself go and ate to her heart’s content.

After eating, Zou Jingjing thought about maintaining her figure, feeling a bit guilty but having no regrets about eating so much.

Anna then asked Anning, ”I remember you didn’t use to cook this well; how did your culinary skills improve so much?”

Anning smiled, ”Living alone for over twenty years, how could I not pick up some skills?”

Anna didn’t ask further.

After cleaning the dishes, Anning pulled out a clay pot to brew medicine.

Zou Jingjing followed into the kitchen, ”Mom, what are you doing?”

Anning pointed at Zou Jingjing’s face, ”Treating the acne on your face. You don’t want to go on the show with that face, do you?”

Zou Jingjing touched her face with distress, ”There’s only a few days left, is there enough time? Also, does this medicine work?”

”Ha...”

Anna just laughed.

”Jingjing, do you know who Sheng Hua is?”

Zou Jingjing thought for a moment: ”Yes, he’s a very famous Divine Doctor, and many medical books that are passed down to this day were written by him.”

”That person is your ancestor. So, do you think your mom’s medicine works?”

”Sheng Hua is also my ancestor?”

Zou Jingjing was quite surprised by that.

As Anning was preparing the medicine, she said, ”According to historical records, almost everyone with the surname Sheng is your ancestor.”

Sister Hong, who was lying on the sofa to relieve her stomach pain, almost jumped up in shock when she heard that: ”You mean...”

Zou Jingjing quietly explained to Sister Hong, ”My mom is the only heir of the Sheng Family, which is the family that produced illustrious painters, Prime Ministers, and literary scholars in history.”

”Oh my...”

Sister Hong almost bit her tongue in shock: ”Your background is so extraordinary, and Liu Yue Mei even tried to exploit it, isn’t she just setting herself up to be humiliated?”

Zou Jingjing chuckled, ”She delivered her face to be slapped, I can’t disappoint her.”

After Anning finished preparing the medicine and waited for the juice to cool down into a light green, thick liquid, she asked Zou Jingjing to wash her face and applied the medicine evenly on it, then patted her shoulder: ”All set, go to sleep.”

Zou Jingjing was somewhat reluctant, but Anning told her, ”You must sleep after applying the medicine, otherwise it won’t be as effective.”

Zou Jingjing could only slowly walk to the bedroom.

When she lay on the bed, she pinched herself, the pain reminding her that all of this was real. She now had a mother, and her mother was so young, beautiful, and talented.

Zou Jingjing fell asleep smiling.

After Zou Jingjing fell asleep, Anning called Sister Hong over.

”Sister Hong, please sit.”

Sister Hong sat down across from Anning, and Anning smiled at her: ”I really appreciate the care you have provided to Jingjing over the years. I know you both had a tough time, but from today onwards, no one will be able to bully Jingjing anymore. I’m back, and whatever Jingjing wants, I’ll make sure it happens. I hope we can agree and cooperate closely in the future.”

In a villa area in the Capital, Liu Yue Mei and Zou Xuexuan were holding their phones and looking at online posts slandering Zou Jingjing.

Liu Yue Mei was smiling: ”These posts speak so well. That wretched woman just had a bad seed.”

Zou Xuexuan was also laughing: ”Mom, imagine if Jingjing can’t push back against that show, how furious she would be but still has to appear close to us on the show, wouldn’t that be interesting?”

Thinking about that scenario, Liu Yue Mei was especially pleased: ”Exactly, her reputation is bad now, she definitely wouldn’t dare to complain about us on the show. Then, I can order her around however I like, if she refuses, just those hateful fans alone will be enough for her to handle.”

”Mom, how are you going to do it? Tell me.”

Zou Xuexuan, thinking about Zou Jingjing being obviously upset but forced to stay with them and listen to them, felt a surge of sinister pleasure: ”Anyway, I’ve already bribed a few cameramen to shoot some unfavorable footage of her.”

Liu Yue Mei smiled: ”Don’t worry, I’ll definitely corner her. I heard her skin’s been breaking out badly these days due to stress. When we get to the program set, you can compare bare faces with her, let her fans see what their goddess looks like without makeup. They’d probably back off if they see her covered in acne.”

”I need to take good care of my skin these days.” Zou Xuexuan nestled in Liu Yue Mei’s arms: ”Mom, among the celebrity mothers in this program, you’re definitely the top one. Everyone will praise you for looking young and beautiful, and you’ll definitely attract a lot of fans’ love.”

Liu Yue Mei’s face was genuinely good, though she was in her forties, at first glance, she hardly looked much older than in her thirties.

However, if you looked closely, you would realize her face wasn’t very natural, especially when she smiled, it looked quite stiff - that face must have had lots of hyaluronic acid injections.
