The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 606: Chapter 596: The Stepmother Who Refuses to Be a Stepping Stone 84

Li Jingyu bumped into Xu Han when she came to work the next day.

Xu Han brought her breakfast: ”This was personally made by my mom, try it and see if it’s good.”

Li Jingyu smiled and accepted it, but did not eat it. After Xu Han left, she threw the food into the trash bin.

It wasn’t that the breakfast wasn’t tasty, it was just that Li Jingyu was extremely disgusted with Xu Han now. She couldn’t stomach the food he brought, thinking of him as trash.

In the morning, after Xu Han finished his class, he came over to discuss with Li Jingyu what to have for lunch.

Li Jingyu was packing up her textbooks as she said, ”I’m sorry, I have already made plans to have lunch with my mom today.”

Xu Han looked quite dejected: ”No worries, it’s rare for auntie to come over, you should spend some good time with her.”

As Li Jingyu walked out, Xu Han accompanied her to the school gate: ”It’s just as well, as I’m also going out for lunch. Let’s go together.”

Li Jingyu agreed, but felt even more irritated inside.

She didn’t know what Anning was up to, but she couldn’t stand Xu Han any longer. She didn’t want to spend another moment with him.

Just reaching the school entrance, Li Jingyu was about to turn back and say something to Xu Han when she saw a glamorous-looking woman in fashionable clothes striding towards them, and then she slapped Xu Han’s face, shouting, ”Xu Han, you scum, you... you were all over me not long ago, and now you’ve switched to someone else, how can you do this to me?”

Xu Han was flustered.

Li Jingyu immediately stepped back several paces; she had no intention of getting dragged into this mess.

The girl launched into a flurry of punches and kicks at Xu Han: ”Everyone told me you weren’t dependable and that you were a playboy, but I didn’t believe them. I loved you wholeheartedly, and this is how you repay me, Xu Han, you scum, you are despicable!”

During the scuffle, the zipper of the girl’s bag came open, and many photos fell out.

Li Jingyu bent down to pick one up. Upon seeing it, her face changed instantly.

She too slapped Xu Han across the face: ”Xu Han, what is going on? Tell me, who are she and the woman in these photos, and what is their relationship to you?”

At this moment, it was the end of the school day, and the school gate was crowded with parents picking up their children, teachers heading home, and many students. Naturally, many people witnessed this scene.

The photos scattered on the ground were also picked up by some onlookers.

On seeing them, everyone’s faces showed a variety of intense expressions.

Some of the school’s teachers who saw the photos started to sympathize with Li Jingyu.

They knew that Li Jingyu and Xu Han had been dating for quite some time now, and it seemed that they were possibly discussing marriage. But who could have expected that such a scene would unfold?

Others despised Xu Han’s character.

If you already had a girlfriend outside, why would you still deceive Teacher Li?

The students from Li Jingyu’s classes were especially fond of her, and seeing her holding the photos with tears in her eyes while confronting Xu Han, these students started to loathe Xu Han.

Especially the female students.

Being more earnest about relationships and at an age where young emotions were just beginning to blossom, they couldn’t tolerate any betrayal. Fearing Li Jingyu might be hurt, they quickly surrounded her, worried that Xu Han and the woman who found him might harm Li Jingyu.

Li Jingyu cried and cursed Xu Han: ”You’re a heartless beast, putting on an act in front of me but messing around with so many women behind my back. You put on a decent façade in school but deceive me, you won’t meet a good end.”

Xu Han was hit many times and became so anxious that sweat beaded on his forehead.

He ignored the girl and desperately tried to explain to Li Jingyu: ”Jingyu, it’s not like that. Listen to me, my feelings for you are real. These photos aren’t real; I don’t even know her.”

The girl sneered: ”Xu Han, do you have no shame at all? I gave you everything, and now you’re saying you don’t know me? I’m not afraid of anything today, and I’ll say it in front of everyone here: Xu Han has a birthmark on his butt, and a red mole on his chest...”

Li Jingyu acted deeply traumatized, alternating between crying and laughing: ”Xu Han, you’ve disappointed me too much. I will no longer have any dealings with someone like you. Let’s break up; from now on, we go our separate ways...”

After speaking, Li Jingyu covered her face and ran off.

Several students chased after Li Jingyu, fearing something might happen to her. They followed her for quite a distance, only stopping when they saw her enter a restaurant.

Li Jingyu entered the restaurant, and her phone rang.

Li Jingyu pulled out her phone to answer.

”Come over to private room 3.”

Anning’s voice came through.

Li Jingyu, holding her phone, entered private room 3.

As soon as she walked in, her face broke into a smile, not a hint of sadness to be seen.

”Mom, was that woman brought in by you?”

Anning nodded, poured Li Jingyu a cup of tea, and tossed the menu to her: ”Order some dishes.”

Li Jingyu ordered two of her favorite dishes: ”Was that woman bribed by you, or did she really have a talk with Xu Han?”

Anning ordered dishes while saying: ”She talked with Xu Han, but I’ve also bribed her, and not just her; I’ve bribed several others. Your school is going to be quite lively from now on.”

Li Jingyu gave Anning a thumbs-up.

This move by Anning was truly ruthless. If different women showed up to hassle Xu Han every day, Xu Han would really struggle to stay at the school any longer.

What’s a school, after all? A place for teaching and nurturing. The character requirements for teachers are very strict, not to mention Li Jingyu’s school is a key high school, which has even stricter standards. If troubles keep happening every day, Xu Han’s reputation is sure to be ruined.

Plus, the school wouldn’t want its students to be affected and will definitely fire Xu Han.

In this way, with Xu Han gone from the school, he would no longer be able to bother Li Jingyu, and one could say that the trouble was resolved without much effort.

Li Jingyu could also use this incident to completely sever her relationship with Xu Han.

She would not only avoid criticism but might even draw a lot of sympathy from people, who would feel sorry for her for having encountered a bad person like Xu Han.

The more she thought about it, the happier Li Jingyu became.

She guzzled a few sips of water to moisten her throat: ”Mom, how are you so brilliant?”

Anning reached out and touched Li Jingyu’s head across the table: ”Mom has been through the wringer in the business world all these years. If I didn’t have a few tricks up my sleeve, I would’ve been devoured, bones and all, a long time ago.”

Waiting for the dishes to arrive, Anning asked Li Jingyu: ”How much money do you have on hand right now?”

Li Jingyu pondered: ”I’m not entirely sure, I’ll ask Yuzhen later. Do you need money, Mom?”

Anning shook her head: ”Even if I’m short on funds for a project, I don’t need your money, but I have a friend who started a new housing complex in the Capital. The location isn’t bad, and I’ve checked out the house plans myself. I was thinking of reserving a few housing units for you first, my estimate is that the property prices will soar eventually. Rather than keeping the cash, it would be better to invest in those houses.”

”I’ll ask Yuzhen right now.”

With Anning saying so, Li Jingyu would surely heed her advice.

The properties Anning bought earlier for Li Jingyu and her family in the Provincial City have doubled in value now. Buying properties is indeed more worthwhile than simply saving money.

Li Jingyu picked up her phone and called Liu Yuzhen.

The call connected quickly, and she asked Liu Yuzhen about her financial situation in front of Anning.

After hanging up, Li Jingyu told Anning: ”Yuzhen said she recently invested our money in a project and just settled the profits. Yuzhen made quite a bundle this time, and my money has also increased significantly, probably around six or seven hundred thousand.”

Anning calculated: ”I can get an internal price, and with that money, you can afford two good apartments or an apartment and a small shop. What do you plan to do?”

”I’ll listen to you, Mom.”

Li Jingyu smiled sweetly.

She didn’t really have a concept of money, but she knew that Anning and Liu Yuzhen were the best earners in the family, and following their advice was never wrong.

Anning smiled: ”Then I’ll help you buy an apartment and a shop. Later, I’ll ask Jing Yan and the others, and we’ll sort it all out together for you.”
