The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 618: Chapter 607: My Daughter Is a Vicious Supporting Female Character 7

Anning sat on the plane, looking particularly nervous.

She held Anna’s hand tightly: ”Anna, what if Jingjing doesn’t recognize me? For over twenty years, I’ve never taken care of her, I really don’t deserve to be a mother.”

Anna could feel her nervousness and anxiety.

”Don’t think too much. How can this be your fault? Did you willingly abandon Jingjing? It was all because of those scoundrels Zou Huai De and Liu Yue Mei. Without them, you and your daughter wouldn’t have been separated for over twenty years. Jingjing is a good child; she will definitely understand your difficulties.”

But Anning still couldn’t calm down.

When they arrived in the Capital, she continued to mentally prepare herself.

Exiting the airport, Anna immediately saw Sister Hong waiting to pick them up.

She waved to Sister Hong and pulled Anning towards her.

Sister Hong was truly amazed by Anning’s appearance the moment she saw her. If she hadn’t known this woman was Jingjing’s mother, she might have rushed over to persuade Anning to sign with her.

With Anning’s looks, Sister Hong could guarantee that even if Anning knew nothing, her appearance and aura alone would have made her a sensation.

After all, it was a society dominated by looks now.

Sadly, this woman was Jingjing’s mother.

Feeling a pity, Sister Hong greeted her with a smile: ”You must be Ms. Sheng, hello, I’m Jingjing’s agent, you can call me Ah Hong.”

Anning smiled, ”I’ll call you Sister Hong just like Jingjing does, how is she?”

Although Anning already knew from various messages on the phone that Jingjing wasn’t doing well, she still couldn’t help but ask. Actually, she hoped deep down that her daughter was at least doing slightly better.

Sister Hong didn’t say she was doing well but also didn’t say she was doing poorly: ”You can ask her yourself.”

When they got into the car, Anning still couldn’t help but ask Sister Hong, ”What does Jingjing like to eat, what does she usually love to do? What’s her favorite color...”

Sister Hong answered each question with a smile, which somewhat eased Anning’s nervous mood.

However, when she arrived at Jingjing’s residence and saw her daughter, she was still at a loss, standing there not knowing what to do.

Jingjing also looked at Anning, feeling rather incredulous.

How could this woman in front of her be her mother?

This is her mother? She looks about the same age as her.

Jingjing had fantasized about what her mother would look like ever since she heard her mother was coming back.

She knew her mother had been seriously injured, then rescued, and had lived in the countryside for over twenty years. Surely, she must have suffered a lot, maybe she would look significantly older, her face marked by the vicissitudes of life.

But the woman standing before her looked refined and ethereal, every movement graceful as if painted, her face young and tender, full of collagen, appearing to be just in her twenties—a far cry from a middle-aged woman in her forties.

This mother, Jingjing just couldn’t bring herself to call out.

Sister Hong and Anna quietly left, even closing the door behind them, leaving the space for the mother and daughter who hadn’t seen each other for over twenty years.

”Jingjing, I’m sorry.”

The mother and daughter looked at each other for a long time, and finally, Anning was the first to speak.

”I... you sit down first.”

Jingjing didn’t know what to say to Anning.

Did she hold any resentment?

Naturally, she did, but, she actually had no reason to blame Anning.

Her mother didn’t abandon her willingly; it was beyond her control. How could she hold a grudge?

Anning shifted slightly towards Zou Jingjing and quietly reduced the distance between them, observing Zou Jingjing very carefully, as if she was afraid that any small mistake might anger her.

Zou Jingjing felt it too.

After she noticed Anning’s nervousness, surprisingly, she herself stopped feeling anxious.

They sat on the sofa, each occupying one end.

”I...”

Both of them spoke at the same time.

Anning quickly smiled at Zou Jingjing: ”You go first.”

”You...”

Then they both spoke at the same time again.

Like this, the atmosphere somehow became less awkward.

Eventually, Anning spoke first: ”Anna has told me about everything these past years, Liu Yue Mei has always been tarnishing my image, trying to suppress you with these actions, I know all about it, don’t worry, now that I’m back, I won’t let her succeed. That reality show, we must definitely participate, and not just participate, we must do it openly, letting your fans know what a lovely girl you are, Mom... will help you cleanse the slander Liu Yue Mei has cast upon you bit by bit.”

”Mm.”

Zou Jingjing’s throat choked, she couldn’t speak, only nodding heavily.

It wasn’t until a long time later that Zou Jingjing asked softly, ”Can you hug me?”

Anning approached, wrapped her arms around Zou Jingjing, and gently patted her back: ”Mom has always wanted to hug you, you are mom’s treasure, I will give you everything.”

After the mother and daughter recognized each other, Anning shared many of her experiences with Zou Jingjing.

She talked about what kind of family Sheng Family is, and about the heritage of Sheng Family.

”Sheng Family has only you and me left in the direct line so far. Going forward, you will need to inherit all things from Sheng Family. Jingjing, being a qualified heir to Sheng Family is very tough, you must be prepared.”

Zou Jingjing was stupefied.

She had never imagined her background to be as distinguished as it was, unlike what Liu Yue Mei had depicted it to be so humble.

The Sheng Family, that family frequently mentioned in her history books during middle school, a family with a continuous line of notable people over a thousand years.

It could be said that the heritage of Sheng Family is even longer than any dynasty, the lineage of Sheng Family’s direct line is indeed more noble than that of the previous dynasty’s Emperor.

And she was the sole heir to such a lineage.

Zou Jingjing pinched herself hard, only when feeling the pain on her wrist did she realize this was not a dream, but reality.

Simultaneously, she found it quite amusing.

Zou Huai De had gone through great lengths and used every possible way to cling to the Liu Family, just to elevate his own status, yet he had not realized he didn’t need to do this at all; had he just maintained a good relationship with Anning, eventually his status would have risen automatically without him doing anything.

Probably Zou Huai De had never imagined that the wife he had killed was actually from the main line of Sheng Family.

”Your heritage has never been inferior to anyone.”

Anning held Zou Jingjing and spoke softly: ”You needn’t feel inferior, in the future, you must stand tall and confident, and not fear anyone.”

Zou Jingjing nodded emphatically.

Her ancestors had such glorious histories, and since she carried the blood of Sheng Family, she must not bring shame upon it.

Anning smiled, she carefully studied Zou Jingjing, and upon noticing the acne that had appeared on Zou Jingjing’s face due to worry, she suddenly stood up: ”This won’t do for your face, luckily it’s still not too late, wait here, I’ll go get some ointment for you.”

After a few steps, Anning turned back to look at Zou Jingjing: ”What do you like to eat? I’ll also drop by the supermarket to pick up some ingredients.”

Zou Jingjing replied with some dish names, and Anning noted them with a smile.

She put on a mask as she headed out the door.
