Not Being a Trainer This Time

”Everything is ready. Besides the food that Mew and Teddiursa want, I also prepared a pack of Pokeblocks for you. I didn’t know what flavor you like, so I made them in a general flavor for Electric Type Pokemon.”

Zapdos looked sharply at Naoki standing in front of it.

Upon hearing that this human had specially prepared Pokeblocks for it, a hint of emotion flickered in Zapdos’s heart.

It’s impossible to say it wasn’t moved.

But as a proud and sky-soaring Zapdos, it would never easily express its feelings.

Therefore, Zapdos turned its head and let out a sharp cry, signaling that it was leaving.

”Hmm, go ahead!” Naoki said.

Zapdos glanced back, then flapped its wings and soared into the sky.

In almost the blink of an eye, it disappeared from Naoki’s sight.

Watching Zapdos’s figure, Naoki couldn’t help but think of Mew and Teddiursa.

Unknowingly, the Heroic Expedition Team had traveled to many places.

It’s quite moving when you think about it. Who would have imagined that at the beginning, Teddiursa was just a Pokemon that was good at using its cute appearance to trick farmers out of honey?

And now, it has become a kind-hearted Pokemon filled with a sense of justice.

Naoki let out a sigh of admiration, just about to turn around and take Koraidon home to enjoy the air conditioning.

But at this moment, Koraidon seemed to have discovered something, turned its head, and looked in a particular direction.

”Arghiss?”

”What’s wrong?”

Seeing Koraidon’s reaction, Naoki followed its gaze.

Then, he saw a mysterious Pokemon’s figure within a patch of grass.

It was a Pokemon that resembled a small cat.

It had a light green body, with deep green patterns resembling overlapping leaves on its face, and similar leafy fur like a collar on its chest.

Once Naoki got a good look, he was completely stunned.

Is that... Sprigatito?

Sprigatito, the Grass Type Starter Pokemon from the Paldea Region.

Huh? Did a wild Sprigatito wander into the ranch?

Naoki’s spirit was instantly lifted.

But soon, he noticed something was off.

The Sprigatito had a small bell, just like those from the Pleasant Goat series, hanging around its neck, clearly put there by someone.

”Not a wild Sprigatito?” Naoki murmured.

The Sprigatito didn’t seem afraid as it approached him and Koraidon.

When it got close enough, Sprigatito lifted its head to look at Koraidon, then at Naoki.

”Meowha?”

Naoki blinked in surprise, then took out his Rotom Phone and opened the translation feature.

”Could you repeat that?”

Sprigatito looked at the Rotom Phone and repeated, ”Meowha?”

The Rotom Phone translated: ”[Is this the Pokemon Tavern?]”

Huh? A Sprigatito looking for the Pokemon Tavern?

Naoki was slightly taken aback and then asked, ”Did you come here for something specific?”

Sprigatito: ”Meowha!” (I heard you can help Pokemon here!)

”That’s right.” Naoki nodded, looking at the Sprigatito. ”Do you want me to help you find your Trainer?”

The Sprigatito, with the bell around its neck, might have gotten lost from its Trainer and heard about the Tavern from other Pokemon, leading it here to seek help. Naoki imagined this poor Sprigatito’s predicament in his mind.

However, in the next second, Sprigatito huffed and turned its head away.

”Meowha!” (That’s not it!)

It had run away deliberately because its Trainer was just too biased, neglecting it after capturing new Pokemon!

Sprigatito was angry, so it decided to run away from home. After hearing there was a tavern here that could help Pokemon with problems, it came straight over.

Hearing Sprigatito’s reply, Naoki was quite surprised.

Not here to have him help find its Trainer, so what did it come for?

Thinking this, he asked directly.

Sprigatito: ”Meowha?” (I want to know how to make my Trainer only like me as their Pokemon?)

Naoki was momentarily stunned.

Seeing the human’s reaction, Sprigatito thought he seemed a bit foolish.

So it proceeded to recount its entire story.

”Meowha, meowha!” (Yuki is just too much, catching new Pokemon and then ignoring me, only caring for those annoying Pokemon! I ran away from home for days, and he hasn’t even noticed!)

Naoki instantly understood.

”So, you want your Trainer to only like you as their Pokemon?”

If he remembered correctly, Sprigatito as a Pokemon tend to have a lonely nature, full of possessiveness toward their Trainers, and get easily jealous.

Sprigatito nodded affirmatively, looking at him expectantly: ”Meowha!” (That’s right! Can you help? If you can help me, I’ll give you my most treasured item!)

Naoki: ”...”

He felt like saying don’t bother; he was just like that person named Yuki.

Sure enough, he’s not the only one in this world facing the problem of having too many Pokemon getting jealous of each other.
