Not Being a Trainer This Time

League Year 200, February 25th, after a day’s flight, the plane carrying Professor Oak finally arrived in the Paldea Region.

The Kanto Airlines plane, full of tourists, landed at Mesagoza City’s airport.

Dressed casually, Professor Oak exited the cabin with a look of wonder, taking in the vibrant city.

This was his first time in the Paldea Region!

Mesagoza City’s architecture was full of Paldea characteristics, and in the city center stood an ancient academy with a long history.

That was Paldea Academy.

Before arriving here, Professor Oak did his homework and gained a general understanding of the current situation in the Paldea Region.

Leaving the airport, he excitedly observed the unfamiliar Pokemon accompanying pedestrians on the street.

A grass cat Pokemon with light green fur, a hammer Pokemon with a pink body holding a small hammer, and a lizard Pokemon with tire-shaped airbags in front.

Wow! All these Pokemon aren’t found in the Kanto Region!

Professor Oak took out his Rotom Phone to scan those Pokemon.

It’s so convenient to have a Rotom Phone now! Back in the day, they had to hand-draw the Pokedex!

Now, you just need to scan with a phone to access the ecological data of Pokemon.

Rotom’s mechanical electronic voice came from the phone.

”Sprigatito, grass cat Pokemon, its fluffy fur has components similar to plants, and it diligently washes its face to prevent dryness!”

”Tinkatuff, hammer Pokemon, attacks Bisharp groups to collect metal for making big and sturdy hammers!”

”Cyclizar, mount Pokemon, seems to have allowed humans to ride on its back since ancient times, as depicted in murals from ten thousand years ago!”

”Indeed, these are unique Pokemon to the Paldea Region!”

Having never visited the Paldea Region before, Professor Oak was deeply curious about the Pokemon species and ecology here.

Should he ask Ash to travel here, help collect the Pokedex, and capture a few Paldea Pokemon to send back to the research lab?

But Ash is currently traveling in the Hoenn Region...

”Oh well, let’s wait until Ash finishes his trip in the Hoenn Region first!” Professor Oak thought to himself.

After all, the Kanto Region and the Paldea Region are located on opposite ends of this planet, with other regions in between, so a gradual journey would be better for Ash.

”Ah! I almost forgot the main reason for coming here!” Lost in thought by the Pokemon, Professor Oak slapped his forehead.

He looked down at his Rotom Phone to find a way to get from Mesagoza City to Porto Marinada Town.

Soon, Professor Oak found the answer—a Squawkabilly Flying Taxi.

Five minutes later, Professor Oak boarded the flying taxi powered by three Squawkabillies.

The Squawkabillies were tied with ropes, which connected to the flying taxi.

The taxi seats had two rows, the front for the driver, the back left for passengers.

”This mode of flying is truly unique!” Professor Oak mused.

No such transportation tool exists in the Kanto Region.

The driver in front chuckled and said, ”This is your first time in the Paldea Region, isn’t it?”

Professor Oak nodded, ”That’s right!”

”No wonder!” The driver introduced, ”Squawkabilly Flying Taxi is a unique transportation tool in the Paldea Region. Not only us, but the neighboring Galar Region also uses this method! However, their driver Pokemon isn’t Squawkabilly, but a Pokemon called Corviknight.”

Corviknight? Professor Oak immediately thought of that large, dark-colored bird Pokemon with steel-like feathers he had seen in the city.

Professor Oak: ”I noticed the Paldea Region also has Corviknight residing here. Why don’t you employ them for the work?”

Considering their appearance, Corviknight seems more suited for the job, both in size and speed.

However, hearing this, the driver showed a troubled expression, ”It’s not that we don’t want to employ Corviknight, but we can’t.”

”Oh?”

”Because in the Paldea Region, there’s a Pokemon called Tinkaton with high intelligence. If it sees Corviknight in the sky, it will immediately attack them with a hammer.”

Upon hearing this, two words popped into Professor Oak’s mind: natural enemy!

Tinkaton is the natural enemy of Corviknight, just like the relationship between Caterpie and Pidgeotto!

”I see!”

No wonder the Paldea Region doesn’t use Corviknight to pull flying taxis.

The driver chuckled and then focused on driving the flying taxi.

After a day of flying, Professor Oak felt a bit tired, so he leaned back in his seat and napped for a while.

When he opened his eyes again, the Squawkabilly Flying Taxi had already reached Porto Marinada Town.

He got off the taxi and walked on the street in Porto Marinada Town, taking out his phone to contact Calyrex in private chat.

Although Professor Oak wanted to go directly, unfortunately, Calyrex hadn’t provided a detailed address, only mentioning Porto Marinada Town.

The message was sent, and soon a reply came from that side.
