Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 406: Chapter 253: King vs. King (4k)_2

”Moreover, everything I know, those who believed in me, have long disappeared, and I no longer feel sorrow for this.”

Naoki: ”...”

That’s also true.

He sighed helplessly, ”Alright.”

The next morning, Naoki and Calyrex rode their horses and Koraidon away from Dyna Tree Hill.

To Naoki’s disappointment, he didn’t find any trace of the Galar Region’s legendary bird Pokemon here; otherwise, he would have asked Koraidon to catch a few to bring home.

No Pokemon player can resist the temptation of rare Legendary Beast, and Naoki is no exception.

Seeing the expression on his face, Calyrex asked in confusion, ”Why do you look so disappointed?”

Koraidon, however, instantly understood; no one knows Naoki better than it does.

Koraidon had an expression of disbelief.

Sure enough, the next moment, Naoki said, ”...I’ve read in a human adventure journal that three legendary bird Pokemon reside in that giant tree, but unfortunately, I didn’t see them this time.”

Hearing this, Calyrex immediately recognized which three Pokemon he was referring to.

”They don’t actually reside here; they just occasionally rest on the treetops. If they encounter each other, they tend to engage in a battle.”

”Looks like I picked the wrong time then,” Naoki said regretfully.

Koraidon sighed helplessly, ”Gahhhh...” (Seriously...)

Calyrex smiled slightly, ”If you wish to see them, I can accompany you here to search for them in the future.”

”Never mind,” Naoki replied, ”Let’s wait until we have more time. There’s plenty to do when I get back.”

Like asking Keri to help build stables and prepare for reforesting next spring.

There are two horses, Spectrier and Glastrier, and they seem to have strong territorial instincts, so he has to build separate stables for each.

On the way back, Naoki didn’t return to Freezington Village but instead went straight with Calyrex to Slippery Slope.

The steam train to the Galar Region was stationed there.

On the outskirts of the snowfield, Naoki stopped while riding Koraidon and asked Calyrex, ”We’re going to take the train to the Galar Region; we might encounter other humans there. Do you want to meet them?”

Calyrex thought for a moment and realized that humans today likely don’t recognize him, so he answered indifferently, ”Sure.”

”Alright then,” Naoki turned his gaze to Spectrier and Glastrier, ”There’s something else, the train doesn’t allow large-sized Pokemon, so I need to put them in Poke Balls, is that okay?”

”Poke Ball?” Calyrex looked puzzled.

Naoki took out a regular red and white Poke Ball and explained:

”It’s this thing, developed by humans to carry Pokemon. You just need to press the button to capture a Pokemon inside and take them anywhere.”

He carefully explained to Calyrex about the relationship between humans and Pokemon in this era, including the roles of Trainers and Breeders, which are closely related to Pokemon.

Calyrex nodded while listening, and after Naoki finished speaking, he said, ”I understand. In that case, you can capture your beloved horses into them!”

Naoki nodded, stepped forward, touched Spectrier and Glastrier’s heads, and then took out two empty Poke Balls, pressing them against their heads.

With two flashes of red light, Spectrier and Glastrier’s bodies were captured inside the balls.

Perhaps he had gained the horses’ approval, the Poke Balls only shook slightly before completely calming down.

This indicates a successful capture.

Witnessing this magical scene, Calyrex’s eyes widened in disbelief, filled with wonder.

”What kind of method is this?”

”Uh...” Naoki thought for a moment, replying, ”I think it utilizes Pokemon’s tendency to shrink when they’re weak, but I’m not really sure.”

”Can I get inside too?” Calyrex asked on a whim, ”To you humans, I should also be considered a Pokemon.”

Naoki: ”I suppose?”

Calyrex seemed eager to try.

Naoki could only take out a third Poke Ball, press the button, and capture Calyrex inside.

Perhaps it was due to Calyrex’s favorable impression of him, the Poke Ball didn’t even shake this time and quickly calmed down.

After a while, Calyrex emerged from the Poke Ball itself.

”Interesting,” the former King of Galar remarked, ”Humans truly are a very intelligent race.”

Thinking of what Naoki had mentioned earlier about Trainers and Pokemon’s relationship, Calyrex asked, ”In this way, I can be counted as one of your Pokemon, right? Trainer, please guide me well from now on!”

Naoki: ”...”

To avoid any misunderstandings, Naoki explained, ”I’m not a Trainer. I’m not skilled at training Pokemon. Like you, I’m also a farmer.”

”Hahahaha!” Calyrex suddenly laughed out loud, ”You are right, I’m not a king anymore either; from now on, we’re both farmers!”

Naoki: ”...”

The two continued their journey, retracing the path back to the station at Slippery Slope.

Just as they were about to reach their destination, Naoki suddenly saw a very noticeable caution line being set up on the road ahead, marked with red symbols indicating extreme danger, suggesting something dangerous had occurred here.
