Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 404: Chapter 252: Friendship, Tears, Love, and Bonds (4k)_2

Until later when Calyrex appeared, after being defeated by Him, they established a deep bond with Calyrex, becoming His beloved horses, and together they ruled this kingdom.

But now, Calyrex was about to take them away together...

Noticing the thoughts of His beloved horses, Calyrex said to them with a dignified tone, ”This place no longer belongs to us, and those humans who once revered us as kings have long vanished into the past.”

Spectrier and Glastrier blinked their eyes, still a bit reluctant.

Seeing this, Naoki spoke up, ”When we get there, I will plant more Shaderoot Carrots and White Carrots for you to eat.”

Upon hearing this, the reluctance on Glastrier’s face instantly vanished. It snorted excitedly a couple of times, scraping the ground with its hooves, and started prancing around.

Spectrier also gazed at him with spirited eyes.

Naoki: ”...”

Calyrex watched this scene with a smile in His eyes.

Beside Him, Koraidon also let out a joyful growl, ”Aga-s!” (How nice~)

*

Unknowingly, the moon had come out.

Night fell, and the hazy moonlight bathed the ground, overhead was a beautiful starry sky, and beneath was the vast earth.

Naoki rode the cool Glastrier, alongside this temperamental and restless horse, under the stars, headed south towards the Crown Tundra.

On his left was Koraidon running in its ride form, and on his right was Calyrex riding Spectrier.

On this trip, Naoki planned to visit the Dyna Tree Hill to see that pink giant tree which had nurtured countless Pokemon.

As they got closer, the towering giant tree suddenly appeared before them.

”So big!” Naoki looked up at the scene and said to Calyrex walking beside him, ”How did it grow so large?!”

Calyrex rode gracefully and upon hearing Naoki’s question, He gently raised His head, gazed at the pink giant tree, and replied:

”It was nurtured by this land.”

Naoki was stunned for a moment, ”The land?”

Calyrex slightly nodded, ”The land loves each of its children dearly and hopes they can thrive, therefore nurturing this tree to, in turn, nurture the beings living on this land.”

Naoki: ”...” Couldn’t understand.

Does the land in the Pokemon World have a will too?

Naoki thought for a moment and concluded that Calyrex was probably referring to the will of nature.

Just like how Viridian Forest in the Kanto Region grants the blessing of the forest to certain humans, allowing them to use the Power of Viridian.

Or like in the Pokemon movie ”Pikachu and Coco”, where Coco, in order to protect his father Zarude, used the Pokemon move Jungle Healing with his human body.

Jungle Healing, Zarude’s exclusive move, where the user merges with the jungle to heal the stamina of themselves and their companions using the power of nature.

Initially, Naoki couldn’t comprehend, but now it seemed that Coco must have been recognized by the forest too.

The bond between him and Zarude’s father-son relationship moved the will of the forest, gaining its blessing to borrow its power.

”It really is an idealistic world...” Naoki couldn’t help but mutter.

He remembered that Ash had died several times in the anime, the first time being in the movie ”Mewtwo Strikes Back” when he was petrified by an attack from Mewtwo.

Then the gathered Pokemon were moved by Ash and shed tears, and with the aid of the invincible artifact ”Tears of True Emotion”, Ash was successfully revived.

As a modern person who had traveled to this world, Naoki felt he couldn’t quite grasp these phenomena.

This is no different from those plots where people shout ”Love!”, ”Bonds!”, ”This is our friendship!” and then defeat some overwhelmingly powerful demon lords.

Too cringy... thought Naoki.

At this moment, they arrived at the lakeside of Ballimere Lake which surrounded Dyna Tree Hill.

Spectrier and Glastrier stopped.

Naoki and Calyrex dismounted, intending to camp here for the night.

It was already seven o’clock in the evening. Although it was dark, they could still see those wild Pokemon active nearby.

Swablu flying in the air following Altaria,

Corvisquire with sharp eyes and agile bodies, hiding on branches shrouded in shadows,

Dubwool grazing in herds in the grass,

Fluffy Cottonee floating lightly in mid-air on the breeze.

And in the lake, Barboach swimming, the vacant-eyed Magikarp and Feebas, Basculin recklessly charging around.

The variety of Pokemon here was richer than any other place Naoki had been to before.

With one glance, one could feel the vibrant life force emitted by this group of Pokemon.

Undoubtedly, these were the Pokemon nurtured by the giant tree Calyrex mentioned.

Naoki was astounded by this beautiful ecology, feeling a slight emotional stir in his heart as he watched the Pokemon frolicking and playing on the earth, his mind wandering to the World Tree in his own ranch.

He mumbled to Calyrex next to him, ”There’s also a tree in my ranch that can grow really tall; if it matures, could it also nurture many Pokemon like this?”

Calyrex looked at him, ”A tree?”

”I call it the World Tree,” Naoki told Calyrex the name of that tree, ”It is a very magnificent tree, but it takes a hundred thousand years to grow.”

”World Tree...” Calyrex had never heard this name before, He pondered carefully for a moment before speaking, ”If it’s only about time, perhaps My power can help it grow.”

Naoki thought of the three Gogoats who tended to the World Tree.

Each time after nurturing the World Tree, they seemed utterly exhausted yet displayed a completely satisfied expression on their faces.

If things went by the normal process, by the time he died of old age, he would still not see the World Tree fully grown, but...

Naoki looked at Calyrex and said, ”That might consume a lot of your energy.”

Calyrex smiled, ”And so what? You pulled Me from the abyss, spread My name on that land, providing Me with enough faith to withstand the harsh cold of the tundra.”

Naoki was very moved, ”Calyrex...”

No doubt, this is a Pokemon with a heart full of compassion!

Calyrex was also deeply moved, ”Naoki...”

His little believer was truly good to Him!

Calyrex’s affection level continually went up.

At this moment, Koraidon’s tummy rumbling broke the touching atmosphere.

Naoki turned his head to see Koraidon looking innocently over with a tilted head.

”Aga?” (What’s up?)

Naoki: ”...”

Forget it.

”I’ll start cooking now!”

Tonight’s dinner, Naoki had prepared grilled steaks and vegetable sandwiches.

The grilled steaks were prepared for Koraidon and Cyclizar, while the vegetable sandwiches were reserved for Calyrex.

As for Glastrier and Spectrier...

They had already eaten over a hundred carrots this afternoon, and their bellies were still bulging, indicating they hadn’t digested them yet.

The preparation method for the vegetable sandwich was very simple; most of the ingredients Naoki used were vegetables purchased from Freezington Village, such as carrots, lettuce, and broccoli.

Chop these vegetables, then place them between slices of bread, finally squeeze on ketchup and salad dressing, and a vegetable sandwich is done.

Naoki glanced down and found that this sandwich only enhanced the power of the next Grass Type Move a Pokemon used, so he didn’t pay much attention to it.

After making dinner for several Pokemon, he began preparing curry rice for himself.

During this, Naoki suddenly thought of what the old village elder of Freezington had told him before and he turned to Calyrex, asking:

”By the way, the old village elder of Freezington, who is the descendant of those who used to make the reins, wants to know if you really exist. He previously asked me to tell him if I found anything. Should I tell him about you?”

Upon hearing this, Calyrex was calm. He thought deeply for a moment and then gently shook His head, ”Forget it, I am no longer The King of Bountiful Harvests. Now, I am just an ordinary farmer.”

Naoki: ”...” Goddamn ordinary farmer!

But if that’s the case... fine! Then he wouldn’t tell the old village elder of Freezington about this.

”If that’s the case, then we’ll set off tomorrow!” Naoki said.

Next, he still needed to head to the large city in the Galar Region to purchase some of the fallen Steel feathers of Corviknight, which would also take some time.

Once that was done, he could take Calyrex back to the ranch to spend the winter together.

Calyrex nodded lightly, ”Okay.”
