Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 325: Chapter 233: Newbie Wall

”To all my viewers in Peng City, if you’re near the Hanjing Building, you can look up. The words on the billboard on that building today... they were put there for me by the female lead of this whole incident. Fuck, I’ve lived for twenty-four years, and I never thought I’d get famous this way.”

”I’m speechless.”

Since he had seen it, Lin Chu decided to address it on the stream.

”Huh? I see it! It really is you!”

”Holy shit, this woman is a total badass. She rejected you so hard the whole city knows about it.”

”So the big shot really started out as a bootlicker.”

”Men don’t cry. Stand up and jerk it.”

”The girl you can’t get over? I’ve already put it in.”

”What a stupid bitch!”

”How is she a stupid bitch? She’s from a prestigious family, okay? The sole heiress to Famous Real Estate.”

The stream had now turned into a massive gossip fest, with bullet comments popping up one after another.

”Big shot, so all that stuff you did for her before... was it all true?”

One of the people on the video call suddenly asked in a gossipy tone.

Hearing this, Lin Chu laughed as his thoughts raced.

’Deny it?’

’Or admit it?’

Denying it now would undoubtedly generate more buzz, as it would create conflict, but it would also mean selling out Zhou Luan.

But admitting it would truly solidify his status as a bootlicker.

’Time to test my emotional intelligence.’

”Well, that whole thing... it’s a long story. At first, she liked me, but I didn’t like her. Then, I liked her, but she didn’t like me. After that, neither of us knew if we liked each other or not. Anyway, we’d just bicker every time we met, and then go right back to laughing and joking around like a couple of lunatics. Add in all sorts of misunderstandings and other messy stuff, and the whole thing was basically a trashy teen drama.”

”Brothers, take my advice: whatever you do, don’t go for a yandere. They’re fucking terrifying. Don’t even try to pursue one.”

”The amount of shit I’ve gone through with women over the years is more than all the meals you guys have ever eaten.”

Lin Chu laughed it off casually, trying to move on from the topic.

The crowd: ...

But this topic, on the contrary, was getting interesting.

The bullet comments exploded in a concentrated burst once again.

”I’m so jealous of guys with lots of relationship experience. Not like me, I haven’t been in a single relationship all these years.”

The user named ”Server,” who had won the Xiaomi SU7, suddenly commented with a hint of melancholy.

”What’s this all about?”

”Hey, I’m not giving away girlfriends on my stream!”

”I don’t even have one myself, for fuck’s sake!”

Lin Chu said with a laugh.

The people on the video call couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

”Hahaha, damn, the bro is actually pretty funny.”

”I don’t have one either, fuck!”

”No girlfriend +1!”

”You don’t have one because you don’t want one. You’ve definitely got young models from the clubs. I don’t have one because I *really* don’t have one!”

”Don’t cry, bro. Group hug.”

At that moment, Lin Chu could clearly feel that the ”ice” between the streamer and the audience, separated by the internet and screens, had completely broken.

’Heh?’

’Does this mean I’ve broken through my newbie wall?’

”Assistant, how many new followers!”

And so, Lin Chu’s demeanor became even more natural and unrestrained as he turned to ask his assistant.

”President Lin, it’s at 110,000.”

”Good. Let’s start the second round of giveaways! Brothers, share the link! You need to share the link to be eligible. The prizes for this round are the same. Help me out here, let’s see if we can hit a million followers tonight!”

Lin Chu had completely gotten into the zone.

’A livestream is just a carnival, isn’t it?’

...

The stream continued late into the night.

As time ticked by, Lin Chu felt himself getting more and more into it, his proficiency growing.

With a constant stream of traffic promotion and five rounds of giveaways, the number of concurrent viewers stayed above 100,000.

「A little after one in the morning.」

Lin Chu finally ended the stream, feeling like he could have kept going.

After he shut down the stream.

Suddenly, a round of applause erupted. Almost everyone behind him was clapping.

It was the boss’s debut stream, after all. Although it was a bit rocky in the middle, the overall result was quite good.

One still had to suck up.

And one had to show him respect.

”Brother Chu, for a rookie debut, that was still amazing. The backend shows 610,000 followers. Although it’s a ways off from a million, it’s still damn impressive.”

Zhang Peng was the first to offer his congratulations with a smile.

Lin Chu nodded, waving his hand with a smile, his voice a bit hoarse. ”How much did we spend on traffic promotion?”

”I took a look. We spent just under five million on promotion, something in the four-million range.”

”We gave away ten million in prizes.”

”Our revenue was a little over two million.”

Although Zhang Peng said this with a smile, his heart was bleeding. ’Damn it, we’re really just burning money to make a scene. This one stream resulted in a net loss of over ten million.’

’But it’s Lin Chu’s first stream. If he wants to burn through money, let him.’

Lin Chu nodded nonchalantly.

’I gave away ten million in gifts. Excluding the users who didn’t trigger a rebate, my total rebate amount is over 17 million.’

’So I’m still in the green.’

’Of course, they don’t know any of this.’

”We’ll continue tomorrow.”

”We also need to keep optimizing the stream plan. Do some pre-show hype, invite some celebrities or something. Don’t worry about the money.”

”I’ve already made the boast that I won’t sell products until I hit ten million followers. We have to reach that goal.”

”Manage the fan groups well for me. Identify the key fans.”

Going from a boss to a streamer was, in a way, a professional ”downgrade.”

Moreover, it was a move from behind the scenes to the front stage.

’But, since I’m doing it, I’ll do it to the best of my ability.’

Being a boss and being a streamer are two completely different identities, each with its own pros and cons.

The former is obviously more prestigious, safer, and less hassle.

But the latter can create much broader connections.

’It’s a brand new life experience, I guess.’

Hearing Lin Chu’s words, Zhang Peng nodded nonchalantly, but his heart was filled with mixed feelings.

He was happy that Lin Chu was suddenly taking the livestreaming business seriously.

He was worried about how much money they would have to spend!

They were spending money even more aggressively than before!

And now they had to hire celebrities!

...

After finishing up with company matters, Lin Chu finally checked his phone.

’I’ll ignore the unimportant messages for now.’

’Let’s get to the important ones.’

Kang Hao: ”I dropped by your stream for a bit. This afternoon, I told the president of the United Youth Association about your situation. A few people also watched your stream tonight. It was pretty good, but they held a small internal meeting and still rejected your application to join.”

”There’s really nothing I can do about this. After all, I’m just a nobody in the association.”

”The United Youth Association is still dominated by Chaoshan billionaires, and almost all of them have been family friends for generations. Sorry about this, Brother Lin.”

His tone was quite sincere.

He was trying his best not to offend anyone.

Lin Chu glanced at the message, couldn’t help but shake his head with a small laugh, and lit a cigarette.

’Rejected.’

Heh.

’The truth is, even with my current net worth, I can still feel that invisible glass ceiling.’

’And this is the second time.’

’The first time was with the low-altitude aircraft project.’

’Is this... a class barrier?’

It even made Lin Chu think of a movie, *The Great Gatsby*.

A poor kid who struck it rich, even if he seems wealthy for a time—and in fact, really is wealthy—is still just an upstart with muddy boots in the eyes of Old Qian, someone who can’t be brought into polite society.

’It’s not that I’m desperate to curry favor with them.’

’But not being accepted and having my plans obstructed are objective facts.’

’And this is without anyone actively targeting me.’

’If someone were to deliberately target me, it would be even more troublesome.’

’And that, apparently, is inevitable.’

Thinking about all this, Lin Chu couldn’t help but clench his fists.

’Get famous!’

’I have to get famous!’

’To hell with it!’

’What fucking Old Qian!’

’This wall is just like the newbie wall in streaming. I just have to keep at it, keep hammering away, and eventually, it’ll crumble on its own.’

”Thanks. No worries. Let’s get together sometime.”

Lin Chu casually typed a reply and let out a long plume of smoke.

...

「That night.」

After a shower, Lin Chu lay in bed without even the energy for a ’round of applause.’ He casually pulled up a book and a documentary, reading while he watched.

The documentary was an interview with Musk.

The book was also Musk’s autobiography.

’Without a doubt, this was a controversial man, but also an incredibly badass one.’

’I’m not watching his documentary and reading his autobiography for inspiration, but more for reference.’

’A person...’

’...the key is still to be badass yourself.’

’If you blossom, the breeze will come to you.’

’And... have a lot of brothers.’

’The masses hold the greatest power.’

’Those guys don’t count for shit.’

...
