Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

131: The security guard came to ask for medicine.”Hahaha, I was just thinking that. Don’t worry, we have an innate advantage. I can command and block all zombies, and you have a heaven-defying space that can hold endless supplies. With the two of us joining forces, is there anything we can’t achieve?”

Luo Sen laughed heartily, his words wiping away all of Si Nan’s worries. She immediately beamed, ”Incredible, you’ve learned how to comfort people.”

The man immediately pulled her into his arms and blew an ambiguous, fragrant breeze into her ear. ”Doesn’t Nan Nan know that I’m capable of more than just comforting people? I can also—mmph!”

Si Nan covered Luo Sen’s mouth and playfully slipped away. ”You can also use your immense strength to sort out these thick wooden planks and put them together so it’s easier for me to put them away.”

”Hahaha, you win.” Luo Sen laughed, looking at his empty arms.

By the time they returned in the evening, the men and women of Unit Three were still working late into the night. There had always been a warehouse specifically for materials in the Residential Area. Since the Property Management was no longer in charge, everything inside had been cleared out and moved to the edge of the perimeter wall.

”Si Nan is back.” Everyone looked at the Armored Vehicle as if they were looking at a delicious meal, and at Si Nan’s eyes as if they were looking at stars in the sky—she was their literal provider.

”Sister Nan, please inspect the results of our half-day’s labor.” Director Lin, Ge Yue, and Mao Xin followed on either side of Si Nan, recounting what they had done all afternoon.

Si Nan and Luo Sen did a round of inspection and were quite satisfied. ”Mhm, not bad. It’s late. Collect your things and go back to rest.”

On the way back, Si Nan had already prepared the reward dinner. Director Lin and the other two led people to carry it, while Luo Sen was responsible for distribution.

”This is great! Finally, a full meal.” Those people wept with joy as they held the food Si Nan gave them, nodding silently to her in gratitude.

Si Nan gave an official smile. Fortunately, there was still natural gas. She distributed the rice, flour, instant noodles, pickles, and self-heating meals they had just scavenged.

Moreover, she distributed them once a day, checking the progress upon her return before handing them out. This was to prevent anyone from fishing in troubled waters or just idling around and waiting for death.

”Boss, what about our cigarettes—” Deng Jiude approached Si Nan thick-skinned, his voice losing confidence by the second half of the sentence. Behind him, Zhuo Guangshun walked slowly.

Having been soundly scolded by Si Nan earlier, the two men in their early forties were too embarrassed to face her again.

But Si Nan wasn’t going to let him off. ”What’s wrong? Too ashamed to see me now?”

Zhuo Guangshun and Deng Jiude: ”...”

”Can’t you just be a bit more forgiving?” Zhuo Guangshun’s teeth itched with frustration, but what could he do? He was currently a paper tiger who had lost its fur, unable to do anything to anyone. He even had to work under this black-hearted, sharp-tongued little girl for food. It was incredibly stifling.

”Heh~” Si Nan first let out a cold sound, then intensified her mockery. ”It’s been a month since the Apocalypse started, and you still haven’t adapted. If you keep insisting on saving face, you won’t survive.

Fine. Tell me, how did everyone do with today’s work?”

These words made Zhuo Guangshun’s dull eyes suddenly light up. He had thought a young girl like Si Nan would either like someone or not, and if she didn’t, she would never pay him any mind again.

It turned out he had judged her by his own narrow standards. Her magnanimity was greater than he had imagined; despite her dislike, she recognized his ability.

Thus, Zhuo Guangshun’s expression improved significantly. He walked up to Si Nan with a smile and spoke eloquently, ”Everyone was quite serious. After all, it concerns everyone’s lives. The only drawback is that it’s a bit of a mess without a professional commander. Since no one here is from the construction field, the work inevitably lacks quality.”

This was exactly what Si Nan was thinking. She said, ”How about this: starting tomorrow, you’ll be in charge of site coordination, but only for personnel deployment and direction during work hours. After work, they are still under the management of The Three Building Owners.

But you must follow Elder Zhou’s arrangements. He’s the only veteran in the construction field. I’ll notify The Three Building Owners about this in a bit so they can prepare their people.

A pack of cigarettes and a self-heating meal for each of you. This is your reward.”

With that, Si Nan handed two packs of cigarettes and a self-heating meal to Zhuo Guangshun.

Zhuo Guangshun looked at the cigarettes and food but didn’t take them immediately. This was different from their previous transactions; this was a manifestation of his personal value.

A month into the Apocalypse, he felt he had become useless and might not even survive until the New Year. But since meeting her— ”Take it, or I’m taking it back.” Si Nan turned around, holding the items.

”Wait, I want it, I want it.” Zhuo Guangshun quickly took them and said sheepishly, ”Thank you.”

Si Nan deliberately dug at her ear. ”What did you say? I didn’t hear you.”

”You? If you didn’t hear it, then forget it.” Zhuo Guangshun, still having some pride, took the items and headed toward his home.

”Hahaha—” Si Nan laughed behind him.

Deng Jiude was unhappy. ”Why does he get a self-heating Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables meal, but I don’t?”

The smile on Si Nan’s face slowly cooled. She pointed at his whole body and said, ”Ask your layers of fat.”

Deng Jiude: ”...”

Si Nan didn’t even want to acknowledge him. She turned and headed home. Luo Sen had already driven the Armored Vehicle into the courtyard. She was hungry now. Just as she reached the courtyard gate, she saw the long-unseen Sister Ma. It looked like she was waiting for her. Surprised, she asked, ”Sister Ma? Why are you here? How did you get here with so many zombies outside?”

Sister Ma looked at Si Nan as if she were a savior. ”Xiao Nan, you’re amazing. You were able to drive the zombies out and organize the people from the three units to reinforce the perimeter wall. I truly admire you.”

Si Nan’s eyes narrowed imperceptibly. How could the sister be so sure that she was the one who drove the zombies away? Could she have seen it when Luo Sen took action?

Regardless, she had to deny it immediately. ”Sister, how could I have the ability to drive away zombies? Who knows what happened? I see your complexion is a bit off. Are you sick?”

Only then did Si Nan notice that Sister Ma’s complexion was very poor. Not only was her face sickly, but her overall energy was gone.

Sister Ma said somewhat embarrassedly, ”Xiao Nan, I won’t stand on ceremony with you. Yes, I’m sick. I’ve had a cold for a long time and haven’t gotten better. Could you give me a box of cold medicine? One for adults and one for a Child.”

Si Nan was shocked for a moment. ”For a Child? Did your Child come to find you when the virus broke out?”

”No, no. I’m—I’m asking for him.” Sister Ma pointed about two hundred meters away.

Si Nan looked over, her expression displeased. It was a man in his forties wearing gold-rimmed glasses. He looked refined and was holding a babbling infant, standing there watching them.

When Si Nan looked over, the man smiled politely and nodded.

Sister Ma spoke somewhat embarrassedly, ”I won’t hide it from you. On the first day the zombies broke out, I happened to be at his house helping to take care of his sick second Child.

His wife took their eldest son to the nearby Health and Epidemic Prevention Station that day to get the Child vaccinated, and they never came back. After that—after that—”
