Sister Nan's Combat Strength is Unknown, But It's Probably Only a Tiny Bit Stronger

127: If you don’t join now, when will you?The expressions of Director Lin and the other two grew increasingly ugly and grave as they listened; they had no knowledge of any of the things Si Nan was saying.

Si Nan continued, ”The prerequisite for preventing all these disasters is to rebuild the walls of the Residential Area. We need to add two more layers on both the inside and outside of the current wall, making them taller and stronger—strong enough to block all the mutated things!”

”After the Residential Area walls are built, I’ll try to gather as many seeds as I can. Then we can tear up the gardens and lawns and use the space to plant crops.”

”It’s winter now, so food won’t spoil so quickly. But what about summer? No matter how much food Luo Sen and I scavenge, how long can it last?”

”Without electricity, refrigerators are useless. How do we preserve food? We need a constant supply of fresh food. Every bit of land inside the Residential Area that can be used for crops must be cultivated.”

”And one more extremely important point: any ground contaminated by zombie black blood must have all the polluted soil completely removed. Otherwise, the crops grown there will be mutated ’zombie plants,’ and eating them will turn people into zombies too.”

”Huh?” Director Lin and the other two were terrified. They had thought they’d found a long-term meal ticket and could rest easy. Hearing Si Nan’s words, they instantly felt their lives were in imminent danger.

Staying alive was simply too difficult; the threat of death skyrocketed!

The three of them were at a loss, sitting slumped on the sofa, heads in their hands, looking utterly hopeless.

Si Nan left them with one sentence and left with Luo Sen. By the time they snapped out of it, Si Nan was already home.

As she had just said, she prepared a large bucket of bottled water for each of them, with a note attached: ’Keep the bucket after drinking.’

Next time, she’d be giving them water from the well. Where would she find so many bottled water buckets for them to drink? Three hundred people would need a whole Armored Vehicle’s worth at once.

She simply didn’t have empty buckets; if she did, she’d have filled them with well water directly.

Along with these, she gave them a large pile of tools and materials for building the wall, as well as some weapons like military shovels and Batons, all piled up outside the courtyard gate.

Si Nan took items out from her space inside the courtyard gate, while Luo Sen transported them outside. Husband and wife working together made the task effortless.

Soon, Song Yuan arrived with the three men. On the way, Song Yuan had explained to them the points to note and the principles they must follow when interacting with Si Nan.

”Excellent! We need weapons like these for self-defense. Sister Nan is a godsend.” The three men immediately divided the Batons and military shovels between them. Hugging their large buckets of bottled water, they treated them more dearly than their own children.

”Thank you, Sister Nan. We’ll take these back first, then assign everyone to come down and start working.”

Si Nan reminded them, ”Secure your rear, stay vigilant against others. If you encounter people who attack you, don’t hesitate. Hesitation will get you killed.”

”Yes, Sister Nan,” the three replied, indicating they understood.

Song Yuan said, ”Sister Nan, I’ll see them off.”

”Go ahead,” Si Nan waved her hand. Others from the other buildings were bound to see; Song Yuan clearly wanted to protect them.

Sure enough, after Song Yuan escorted each of the three men to their building and was on his way back, several men came down and surrounded him, getting straight to the point: ”Tell us, where did that water just now come from? Get us ten buckets too.”

Song Yuan looked at them coldly, his eyes threatening. ”If you want it, go find it yourselves outside.”

The men also became fierce. ”Take him out. Let him learn the consequences of not telling the truth.”

”Oh? Let’s try then.” Song Yuan suddenly raised his hand and struck one down with a shovel, causing the man’s head to spurt blood with a ’sizzle.’ Clutching his head, he collapsed heavily to the ground.

Seeing things had taken a bad turn, the remaining men turned and fled. ”Not good, he’s a Martial Artist!”

”You brought this on yourselves.” Song Yuan showed no mercy at all. ’If you don’t uproot the weeds, they’ll grow back when the spring wind blows.’ He chased after the fleeing men, taking them down one by one, defeating them all.

Afterward, he looked up at the building in front of him, his eyes gleaming with a cold, murderous light. A person who had been watching him from a seventh-floor window suddenly ducked out of sight, not daring to look at Song Yuan anymore.

Song Yuan wasn’t foolish enough to run into the building to kill them; that would be falling into a trap. So, he went back.

Meanwhile, Luo Sen was working on the drawings. It was just a simple wall; he finished the design with a few quick strokes and was now writing down the material requirements and details.

Mao Xin suddenly recommended someone. ”Sister Nan, among us, there’s an elderly man, Elder Zhou, who works in construction. He said he can be responsible for quality and safety and that we can hold him accountable if there are any quality issues.”

”However, he currently has a heart condition and needs to take a specific medication long-term. He’s running low on it now. I’ve already taken a photo of the medicine bottle and sent it to the group chat. I hope you can look for it while you’re out gathering supplies.”

Si Nan replied, ”Tell the old man: if the quality is fine, the medicine will be fine.”

”Alright, Sister Nan is straightforward.”

Si Nan looked at the medicine. What a coincidence—she had just scavenged it last time, and there was quite a lot of it. In the pharmacy, many common medicines like cold medicine, fever reducers, anti-inflammatories, and Yunnan Baiyao were almost gone, but other medicines were plentiful, simply because nobody wanted them.

This was perfect, as she had been worried about quality issues, given that these people weren’t professionals.

While Luo Sen was designing the blueprint, Si Nan released half a courtyard’s worth of materials from her space and was moving them out piece by piece. If she didn’t have to hide her space, she wouldn’t have to work so hard.

Just as she bent down to lift a steel plate, it suddenly felt much lighter. In her line of sight appeared two pairs of legs—one long and one thick.

Si Nan looked up. ”What are you two doing here?”

Deng Jiude, his face full of fat and eyes naturally small, grinned so widely his eyes disappeared. ”Oh, come now, little girl, what kind of talk is that? Such rough work shouldn’t be done by a delicate little girl like you. Leave it to us two grown men.”

”You go rest over there, be careful not to bump into you. We’ll handle this.”

Zhuo Guangshun, who had previously been aloof and looked down on Si Nan, also quickly stepped up, holding the other end of the steel plate. ”Yes, we’ll do it.”

These two were shrewd. They had been keeping an eye on Si Nan’s movements. Although they didn’t know exactly what deal she had made with those three men earlier, based on their understanding of Si Nan, this black-hearted little girl wouldn’t give those three bottled water and weapons for nothing. The benefits must outweigh the costs. If not now, then when?

More importantly, their cigarettes were running out despite rationing, and they had been suffering from nicotine cravings these past few days.

”Hey, stop! I can’t afford to pay you two.” Si Nan snatched the steel plate back from their hands. She had never had a good impression of these two from the start. Their sudden appearance, with their grinning faces and eagerness to cozy up to her—they didn’t even care about saving face anymore—was definitely not simple.

Zhuo Guangshun knew he couldn’t hide anything from Si Nan, so he decided to be direct. ”Ahem, we’ll listen to you, help you move this steel—well, we can do other things too. You just need to provide us with three full meals a day from now on.”

Si Nan suddenly narrowed her eyes. ”And what else?”
