Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 199: Chapter 196: Setting a Trap by Playing the Victim Chapter 199: Chapter 196: Setting a Trap by Playing the Victim Huo Sining actually didn’t have this worry because she just wanted to find a fish bowl. It didn’t matter whether it was real or fake; as long as it met her requirements and the price was right, that would be fine.

However, to Huo Sining’s disappointment, she visited several shops in succession but didn’t find what she was looking for.

Feeling helpless, Huo Sining turned back to look for Su Qingqing but didn’t expect to see a familiar figure not far away in the crowd.

Like Su Qingqing, Ye Zixin was also a student of the S University College of Cultural Heritage, specializing in treasure appraisal.

Huo Sining had heard from Su Qingqing that Ye Zixin appeared very frail, but she actually had a certain talent in treasure appraisal, at least not worse than Su Qingqing.

It was only because of the Donghua connection that Su Qingqing was able to be taken in by Professor Xie; however, Ye Zixin had genuinely won over Professor Bai from the College of Cultural Heritage as a master, which showed that this woman really had skills in treasure appraisal.

So, the presence of Ye Zixin on Antique Street did not surprise Huo Sining.

But why was this woman moving sneakily towards Su Qingqing’s location and occasionally glancing anxiously forward? What was she up to?

Seeing Ye Zixin’s eyes fixed on something in the distance, her face full of nervousness while she stealthily moved closer to Su Qingqing, Huo Sining’s eyes flashed with wariness, instinctively feeling that Ye Zixin might mean harm to Su Qingqing.

She frowned slightly and followed Ye Zixin’s gaze.

On the street not far away, two people were carefully carrying a piece of green feather blue carved porcelain, trembling as they moved along, their eyes fixed on the crowd as they turned around and shouted, “Excuse us, make way, please!”

Like most Antique Streets, S City Antique Street was merely three to four meters wide. After accommodating the vendors’ stalls, the space left for pedestrians could be imagined. Thus, in such conditions, porcelain bumpers, who purposely create accidents to demand money from others, became a common sight.

Such scams could be found everywhere.

The Antique Street had many porcelain bumpers mainly because S City was a major tourist destination, attracting a large number of tourists to the area.

Every day on Antique Street, many out-of-town visitors come to exchange old items, and there are even some foreign friends looking for treasures to pick up.

Most porcelain bumpers on Antique Street were locals, so they typically targeted out-of-towners, gauging the amount to extort based on the tourists’ attire.

Of course, locals were occasionally swindled too, but this was not common, as most people were aware of the porcelain bumpers’ aims and acted accordingly. When they saw one approaching, they would sidestep to avoid becoming an easy mark.

Huo Sining had never encountered a porcelain bumper in S City, but when those two approached, the avoidance of the people around made it clear that something was off. After a closer look, she realized the identity of the two and also understood what Ye Zixin was planning.

A cold smile involuntarily curled up at the corner of Huo Sining’s mouth.

She had thought Ye Zixin was up to some clever trick, but here she was, waiting for an opportunity!

Ye Zixin, intent on getting closer to Su Qingqing, didn’t notice Huo Sining coming out of an antique shop on the other side.

Huo Sining took a few strides and reached Su Qingqing’s side, while Ye Zixin, worried about being discovered by Su Qingqing, could only approach cautiously, ending up a step slower than Huo Sining.

At that moment, the two porcelain bumpers holding the carved porcelain were getting close to the position of the stall where Su Qingqing was standing.

Huo Sining had originally intended to simply pull Su Qingqing aside to avoid trouble, but just at that moment, a wicked idea surged into his mind. He glanced at Ye Zixin, who was moving closer, and a glint of cunning light flashed in his eyes.

When Ye Zixin reached Su Qingqing’s side, Su Qingqing was still bending over, concentrating on studying the antique on the stall. Holding an ancient inkstone in her hands and observing it intently, she was completely unaware of the danger that was approaching.

Seeing that Su Qingqing kept her head down without even glancing in her direction, Ye Zixin couldn’t help but feel a thrill of secret pleasure. As the scammers were about to approach, her heartbeat accelerated, and she became increasingly excited.

She pretended to lose her balance and bumped into Su Qingqing with considerable force. Su Qingqing indeed staggered and was about to fall to the side.

Ye Zixin’s heart beat even faster, delighted at the thought of Su Qingqing being entangled in a humiliating situation by the two scammers. A flash of vengeful satisfaction gleamed in her eyes.

Just as Su Qingqing was about to collide with the carved porcelain, at this critical juncture, a hand suddenly reached out from beside her and pulled Su Qingqing aside.

However, Ye Zixin, preoccupied with watching Su Qingqing’s misfortune, failed to notice that Huo Sining had sneakily stretched out a foot in front of her.

Caught off guard, Ye Zixin kicked the obstruction and immediately lost her balance, surging forward and colliding with another tourist.

In the blink of an eye, the tourist she bumped into forcefully pushed her, and as Ye Zixin realized she was going to fall, she panicked and almost instinctively reached out for something to grasp onto nearby.

“Be careful!” a voice cried out from the crowd.

“Crack–”

With a crisp sound, Ye Zixin stood dumbfounded in the middle of the street, staring at the fragments of porcelain on the ground under the gaze of the crowd, her mind blank.

The two scammers had clearly not anticipated such a mishap and stood frozen for four or five seconds before reacting as the hollow-carved porcelain vase shattered on the ground.

One of the middle-aged female scammers immediately came to her senses and, sitting down on the ground, began to make a scene, slapping the ground with her hands:

“My treasure… This is a Kangxi-era Fengwei Zun…”

It was clear the woman was a master actress; with the first cry, her eyes rolled slyly, tears and snot bursting forth in abundance.

As the woman both cried and howled, she thought her performance insufficient, so she knelt and began to pick up the broken porcelain pieces:

“The wretched thing, can’t you watch where you’re walking? My blue and white fengwei, the only thing left to me by my ancestors, gone just like that…”

Even though Huo Sining knew these were scammers, he couldn’t help but admire such dramatic flair.

With acting skills like that, why not break into show business instead of sticking to the Antique Street? Isn’t it a waste of the talents heaven has bestowed upon you?

The more Huo Sining watched, the more amused he felt, his lips involuntarily twitching.

Su Qingqing, having been timely pulled away by Huo Sining and narrowly escaping calamity, was still in shock, taking half a minute before snapping back to reality.

Seeing the instigator standing in the center of the crowd, Su Qingqing’s expression darkened instantly. If she didn’t understand what had just happened, she would really be a fool.
