Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 155: Chapter 152 I Believe

Gu Xu looked somewhat surprised by her words. He glanced at Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian who were excited a few steps away, his expression becoming more solemn.

“Are you certain?”

Huo Sining hesitated for a moment, “I can only say it’s my intuition.”

Intuition? Gu Xu raised an eyebrow.

Gu Xu did not believe in such things as intuition, but the serious expression on Huo Sining’s face inexplicably reminded him of the scene where the girl had treated his gunshot wound on that rainy night.

Without surgery, she had easily removed the bullet from his body and allowed his wound to heal automatically. This woman before him must possess some miraculous ability that defies scientific explanation.

So, if she says this rough jade isn’t valuable, it might well be true. It’s very possible that she is using that strange ability of hers.

But why would she want to Jun and Qin Tian? Isn’t she worried about exposing herself?

Gu Xu’s heart sank for a moment, feeling somewhat perturbed.

Huo Sining did not know what Gu Xu was thinking. She also could not explain why she had shared the secret of this rough jade with Gu Xu. She was more acquainted with Ouyang Jun, yet she had never thought of telling him about it.

Perhaps even she did not know that in the bottom of her heart, she trusted this man more. Despite only having met a few times, their entanglement spanned both their past and present lives.

However, seeing that Gu Xu remained silent, Huo Sining felt utterly disappointed. She thought he did not believe her and suddenly felt that she might have been too meddlesome and overly sentimental.

She smiled wryly and said self-deprecatingly, “This is my suggestion, of course, you may choose not to listen. But if you do believe me, find another excuse to persuade them. Do not bring me up, because I cannot provide them with a reasonable explanation.”

Upon hearing thistter with him and asking him to keep it a secret for her was enough proof of her complete trust in him.

With this thought, Gu Xu’s mood brightened considerably, feeling as if the entire world had become much brighter.

He lowered his head and looked deeply at Huo Sining, his lips curving slightly as he nodded subtly, “I believe you.”

Huo Sining was stunned, unable to comprehend the sudden shift in Gu Xu’s attitude. His sudden smile, though faint, was enough to shock her.

She felt her heart skip a beat, and a strange emotion surged up from the bottom of her heart.

How… How could she harbor such inappropriate thoughts about this man?!

Feeling an unexplained palpitation within her heart, Huo Sining was startled and quickly lowered her head to hide her inner turmoil and guilt.

“Ningning, what’s wrong with you?”

By noon, Huo Sining and her companions returned to the hotel for lunch and rest. Along the way, Huo Sining had been rubbing her face with a hint of red flush visible on her ears and even her eyes were brimming with sprightly light, which left Su Qingqing utterly puzzled.

Bai Yishan, however, couldn’t help but chuckle, “What could it be? The little girl has blossomed; she’s got spring fever!”

“Stop that, cut out the teasing! It’s you who’s caught the spring fever. Come clean now, what’s the real deal betweenearing that.

“How did this suddenly turn to me? We were clearly talking about you! You and Mr. Gu are the ones with an issue. Why else would he come all this way to attend the Jade Public Plate but not look at the raw materials, choosing instead to follow us and be your porter?” Bai Yishan voiced her inner doubts.

Huo Sining’s mind was thrown into disarray. She hadn’t thought much while looking at the raw materials that morning, but now that Bai Yishan mentioned it, Gu Xu’s actions did seem rather strange.

“What porter?” Overhearing the three women whispering among themselves, Su Jinyuan turned his head back with curiosity and inquired.

Huo Sining stiffened, giving Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan an awkward glance before she forced a composed response, “Nothing, by the way, Brother Jinyuan, what do you think about the 2547 piece?”

Su Jinyuan paused for a second, “That, I’ll have to discuss with Master He and Master Liu before deciding, but this piece indeed carries a high risk with potential for a big payoff.”

Huo Sining’s heart sank, thinking indeed, even an experienced hand like Su Jinyuan couldn’t spot the issue. The chaos this piece of raw material would stir up was unimaginable; and when it turns out to be worthless like a lump of brick, the disaster it would cause…

Seeing Huo Sining frown in silence, Su Jinyuan sharply picked up on her concern and couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”

After hesitating for a moment, Huo Sining explained, “Today, while you guys were looking at the raw materials, I stood on the outskirts with Gu Xu. He then received a call and pulled Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian aside, seeming to say s, they walked away, like they’ve given up on that piece altogether.”

At this point, Huo Sining lifted her head to look at Su Jinyuan, “Also, I noticed the expressions of Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian changed, so I suspect…”

“You suspect there’s something wrong with that piece?” Su Jinyuan’s expression grew solemn as he exchanged glances with Du Yuanwei and the two masters in the car, all revealing shock and suspicion in their eyes.

“Mr. Su, this is serious. If there’s really something wrong with that piece, we can’t take the risk!” Master He interjected anxiously.

At the time, Su Jinyuan was preoccupied with examining the raw materials and didn’t notice the others, but now, hearing what Huo Sining said, he didn’t rush to decide, simply nodding, “I understand, but no one can be sure if this is just a ruse of theirs.”

Du Yuanwei nodded, “Exactly, maybe it’s all a show put on for us. I remember when I first went to the silent auction area, those two were arguing fervently and were quite optimistic about that piece, seemingly determined to get it. Maybe it’s all a pretense for our sake.”

Huo Sining knew that further persuasion would be futile and might even arouse their suspicions, so she could only shrug helplessly, “Perhaps, but it’s still better to be careful. Anyway, there’s still several days until the deadline for the bids. Brother, take some more time to think about it.”

“Alright, I’ll go inquire about Ouyang Jun’s side this afternoon, and we’ll see,” Su Jinyuan didn’t make any hasty decisions, but Huo Sining’s words took root in his mind.

He was always cautious, especially with gambling stones. There’s always a chance of being misled, and any small piece of infic Plate at Pingzhou, worth tens of millions. Naturally, he couldn’t ignore what Huo Sining had said.
