Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 182: Chapter 179: Skewered Dog

Seeing Jingba’s unimpressive display, Huo Sining immediately found it amusing, and Master Huang, sitting not far away, couldn’t help laughing either.

“Where did you find this puppy? It must be a mix of Golden Retriever and Tibetan Mastiff, right? By its size, it doesn’t seem to be even half a year old. It has a fierce bark though. It’s so small and already has such a presence; it’s going to be quite something when it grows up!”

Master Huang’s eyes lit up when he saw the pup’s performance, looking at the little mongrel with an undisguised affection.

This pup looked like it was only a few months old, but unexpectedly, it acted very fierce, and standing there, it gave off a vibe as imposing as a young wolf.

“Is this a Tibetan Mastiff?” Huo Sining was startled; she didn’t know much about dogs, but she had heard of the Tibetan Mastiff’s reputation as an extremely ferocious breed, the undisputed king in terms of combat ability among dogs.

Master Huang laughed and said, “It’s a mix, that’s for sure. It has half Tibetan Mastiff bloodlines, but it’s a far cry from a purebred Tibetan Mastiff. With mixed breeds, it’s not certain they’ll inherit their parents’ good traits. Their intelligence and obedience could be much worse.”

Huo Sining nodded in understanding. Mixed breeds were like that, lacking when compared to purebred dogs. The more mixed, the worse.

Although Huo Sining had never seen a Tibetan Mastiff, she had seen Chinese rural dogs. When she was in Baiyun Village, she encountered various mixed-breed dogs, most of them not very bright, commonly referred to as “stupid dogs” in the countryside!

Tibetan Mastiffs were too fierce and not easy to manage, but Huo Sining thought a mixed breed didn’t sound bad, potentially combining the Golden Retriever’s gentleness and docility with the Tibetan Mastiff’s alertness and formidable fighting ability. Even if it couldn’t match up to its parents, that was still pretty good.

The puppy’s eyes were shiny and spirited. In terms of its mental state and physical demeanor, Huo Sining really hadn’t seen any other puppy with as much presence as this one.

Moreover, for a puppy only a few months old to show such intelligence was very impressive indeed.

Huo Sining looked the puppy over and the more she did, the more she liked it.

She had been considering whether to get a dog to keep watch over the house, and despite its unremarkable appearance, this pup had a commanding presence, which seemed quite suitable for guarding a home.

However, the thought of the dog treasure in the puppy’s belly made Huo Sining involuntarily furrow her brow.

Master Huang wheeled himself closer and reached out to pet the puppy.

Remembering how the puppy had snapped at Qin Shao and the veterinarian, Huo Sining’s heart skipped a beat. She was about to caution the old man against touching the little guy.

But to her surprise, the little fellow seemed to understand human kindness. Sensing Master Huang’s goodwill, it lay down obediently and allowed him to scratch it.

Huo Sining’s mouth twitched as she thought to herself, are you trying to become a demon or something? You’re just a tiny thing and yet you can already tell good from bad. How do you do it?!

After getting off Qin Shaoyou’s car, Huo Sining used Spiritual Energy to heal the pup’s external injuries during the ride back, so Master Huang didn’t notice any wounds or bandages on the dog.

But he quickly realized something was amiss; after scratching the pup for a bit, his hand came away full of hair.

“Is this dog sick? Why is it shedding so much?” Huang Chengyi couldn’t help but frown upon noticing the issue.

“Yeah, it was infected with bacteria and has a mild case of pneumonia. Its previous owner was too stingy to pay for its treatment and threw it off the car. I picked it up and took it to the vet, saving its life.”

Huo Sining spoke vaguely, not mentioning that there was a “dog treasure” hidden inside the puppy’s belly.

Upon hearing this, Huang Chengyi indeed overflowed with sympathy; he lowered his head and glanced at the pitiable puppy, “It really is a sin, how could such a small pup’s owner be so heartless. Pneumonia isn’t such a serious illness; the pet hospital’s prescribed medication can cure it.”

Huo Sining replied, “That’s what the doctor said too; he prescribed some medicine but also mentioned that we should observe its condition for a couple of days.”

Huang Chengyi grew somewhat concerned upon hearing this, “Then let’s keep it at home for a couple of days and see how it goes. If it doesn’t improve, we should take it to a major hospital for a checkup.”

Huo Sining nodded outwardly, but internally she harbored different thoughts.

She had finally gotten away from that unscrupulous doctor, and the puppy had narrowly escaped from evil clutches. Huo Sining had no intention of taking it to see any veterinarian again, fearing that if they encountered another doctor covetous of the “dog treasure,” it could bring about more trouble.

After taking the puppy back to the room, Huo Sining asked the maid to prepare a large basin of hot water to bathe the dog.

Once the bloodstains and filth on the pup’s body were all washed away, Huo Sining gently stroked its fur and sighed, “What should we do if we don’t go to the hospital for treatment? The thing inside your stomach is growing larger; could it take your life?”

As Huo Sining murmured softly, the puppy seemed to understand, shivering and raising its head to look at her, its eyes filled with sadness and pleading.

Seeing this, Huo Sining felt a pang of heartache, “It seems you’re afraid of dying too. I’m scared as well, having someone cut open and disembowel you is a rather painful experience.”

As Huo Sining spoke to herself, it was as if she was talking about the dog, but also about her past life’s ordeal.

Recalling how she was drugged with red wine laced with a sedative by Zhao Mingcheng in her previous life and then abducted by Wu Jingyi onto a ship to have her abdomen cut open and her heart removed, every time she thought of that scene, she would still feel a lingering fear that made her body uncontrollably tremble.

Lost in her memories and drifting in thought, the puppy seemed to understand Huo Sining’s murmurs and responded with a low, whining sound, instantly bringing her mind back to the present.

Regaining her focus, Huo Sining looked down at the puppy, an idea suddenly flashing in her mind as she exclaimed,

“No, that’s not right. Just because others can’t cure it doesn’t mean I can’t try. Back then, when Gu Xu was shot, it was I who helped him push the bullet out of his body. Although this ‘dog treasure’ is growing in your stomach, we can still try!”

Thinking of the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl, Huo Sining had a flash of insight, feeling that she had been too presumptuous before.

Why must surgery be necessary? Since she had been able to treat Master Huang’s leg disease, this proved that Spiritual Energy could heal both external and internal ailments.

“If there’s something growing inside the dog’s stomach, forcing the ‘dog treasure’ out should do the trick, right?”

After all, if the dog wasn’t treated, it was as good as dead either way. The situation couldn’t get much worse; it was worth a shot at this point to treat the dog as if it were a live horse despite appearing dead.

Moreover, her Spiritual Energy had been tested multiple times, healing both people and animals. Even if the ‘dog treasure’ couldn’t be removed, surely it would still benefit the pup’s health and certainly wouldn’t worsen its condition with treatment.

With these thoughts, Huo Sining became excited and placed the puppy in the bath. Ignoring its struggles, she reached out toward the soft part of its belly.

Locating the position of the pup’s stomach, she summoned the Spiritual Energy from the Azure Pearl to her palm and without hesitation transferred a large amount of it over.
