Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 174: Chapter 171 Qingmu Fish Farm

While a melodramatic scene unfolded in the Imperial Capital, Huo Sining was as busy as a spinning top: first, she had to catch up on half a month’s worth of school lessons, then tend to her grandfather’s illness, supply the Xianyu Shop, and provide the Jadeite raw materials for Bai Yishan’s workshop. Most importantly, S City’s annual fish fighting competition was about to start.

Soon after returning to S City, Huo Sining received an invitation to the fish fighting competition, scheduled for the last day of November.

The six koi that Huo Sining raised were now split among three aquarium tanks because, in just a few short months, they had grown rapidly like they were on steroids, each now measuring twenty centimeters in length.

Koi are naturally large fish species, with some even growing to two or three meters, so Huo Sining didn’t find it particularly surprising.

However, Huo Sining’s six koi were indeed very beautiful, with bright red lips, white teeth, and distinct features. Plus, the patterns on their bodies were exceptionally translucent and refined, each red and white scale so vivid it seemed ready to seep out.

Even Old Fish, an experienced fisherman, marveled after seeing them and kept praising them. He firmly believed that Huo Sining’s fish would stand out at the fish fighting competition.

Huo Sining didn’t hold such high expectations; she just wanted to show off her koi and if they could fetch a high price, she would be more than satisfied.

A few days after resuming classes at school, Huo Sining heard that Qin Shaoyou was also preparing to participate in the fish fighting competition.

But he was secretive about the species of fish he would enter. Despite Huo Sining’s several attempts to probe, she couldn’t extract any substantial information from Qin Shaoyou.

Since the last time Huo Sining helped Ouyang Jun to address the Feng Shui fish issue, Qin Shaoyou’s view of her had improved significantly. He no longer dwelled on the matter of Huo Sining selling him the angelfish at a high price, and the relationship between the two had eased somewhat.

Additionally, because Huo Sining often personally delivered wild aquatic species, Gan Lijun would frequently mention Huo Sining to Qin Shaoyou, with a significant intention of including Huo Sining in her research institute.

Although Qin Shaoyou did not verbally concede, he was indeed very curious about Huo Sining’s fish-raising skills. Not to mention, he had recently visited the Xianyu Shop again and discovered the koi that Huo Sining raised.

After a period of not seeing them, the koi had become even more exquisite, their beauty devilishly alluring. Qin Shaoyou wasn’t confident that his fish could outcompete Huo Sining’s in the upcoming matches. To be honest, he was uncertain himself.

Huo Sining was unaware of Gan Lijun’s plans. She encountered some trouble as the ornamental fish for the Xianyu Shop were usually sourced from a supplier’s farm. However, several days ago, the supplier had an accident while in Guangcheng, resulting in a disruption of supply.

After returning from Pingzhou, Wu Jun informed Huo Sining of the situation. She initially didn’t take it seriously until she contacted other suppliers and realized that due to the upcoming fish fighting competition, many were short on stock. Now, restocking was proving troublesome.

Huo Sining felt somewhat worried. The Xianyu Shop was currently thriving, and even though she no longer cared about the store’s revenue given her wealth, it was still her first shop, into which she had invested much emotion and effort. If business and reputation were affected due to supply issues, it would distress her.

Considering whether to personally make a trip to Guangcheng, Huo Sining had not yet settled on a plan when Qin Shaoyou took the initiative to help her resolve the crisis.

Get in the car.

Qin Shaoyou only learned of Huo Sining’s troubles with Xianyu Shop from his mentor’s wife. However, solving Huo Sining’s problem wasn’t difficult for him. So, after classes that day, Qin Shaoyou didn’t hesitate to pull Huo Sining aside and head out.

“Where are we going?” Huo Sining asked, puzzled.

“I have a friend who specializes in breeding ornamental fish. He has a nursery base with various kinds of fry available. Just a few days ago, he called me to say that he had a new batch in. You wanted to stock up on ornamental fish, right? I told him I’d bring you along, so get in the car!”

Qin Shaoyou pulled Huo Sining into the car and explained as he drove.

Huo Sining was surprised, “How did you know about my store’s situation?”

“I heard it from my mentor’s wife.”

Huo Sining felt warmed by the thought, “Thank you.”

Seeing a look of gratitude in Huo Sining’s eyes, Qin Shaoyou glanced at him sidelong, a glimmer of sharpness in his eye, and chuckled,

“Do you feel like I’m your timely rain? No need to thank me. If you really want to express gratitude, why not tell me how you managed to save Ouyang Jun’s Flower Monkfish so quickly last time?”

Hearing Qin Shaoyou bring up Ouyang Jun’s Flower Monkfish, Huo Sining immediately felt guilty and laughed awkwardly, changing the subject, “Where are we headed?”

Qin Shaoyou had anticipated that Huo Sining wouldn’t divulge anything, so he wasn’t disappointed. The car headed eastward, quickly leaving S City behind and driving into the countryside. He replied, “To Qingshan Mountain. Have you heard of it?”

Seeing Huo Sining shake his head, Qin Shaoyou smiled and elaborated, “My friend has rented a large reservoir and the Great Wilderness hillside there and set up a nursery base, dedicated to studying fish fry breeding. Coming with me this time is definitely a win for you. Normally, my friend rarely allows anyone into his nursery.”

The location of the nursery base wasn’t remote, situated at the foot of Qingshan Mountain. It took less than two hours to arrive outside the base.

The perimeter of the base was fenced with wire mesh and concrete posts, allowing a clear view into the yard from the outside.

Not far from the fence was a large dam, presumably the reservoir Qin Shaoyou mentioned. Surrounded by distant green mountains with dense forests, despite it being late autumn, the trees were still lush and verdant.

The car stopped at the entrance to the base, where the words “Qingmu Fish Farm” were carved into four wooden signs hanging above the gate. Only when they reached the main entrance did Huo Sining notice that the left side of the base was bordered by a wire mesh fence, while the other side was right up against the Qingshan Mountain dam, with direct access from the yard up to the mountain and into the reservoir.

Getting out of the car after Qin Shaoyou, Huo Sining saw a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl in a yellow dress watering a large pool by the gate. She looked up instinctively when she saw the car stop at the entrance, her eyes lighting up, “Brother Shaoyou, what brings you here?!”

Qin Shaoyou clearly recognized the girl, and his face broke into a smile when she addressed him, “Your brother called me to say he had a new batch in, so I came to have a look. Tian Tian, open the gate for Brother Shaoyou.”
