Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 189: Chapter 186 Date Chapter 189: Chapter 186 Date The more Wu Jingyi watched, the more her rage and unwillingness crescendoed, her eyes nearly shooting flames.

Why should she have nothing in the Imperial Capital, even having to ingratiate herself with those disgusting men for a little tuition, while Huo Sining could casually live a good life without paying any price?

“Wu Jingyi, are you okay? Why do you look so terrible?” Noticing that Wu Jingyi’s mood was a bit off, a girl beside her couldn’t help but ask with concern.

Tang Yinuo sneered, disdainfully saying, “Look at her, all dressed up to go out. What could possibly be wrong with her?”

Regaining her wits, Wu Jingyi didn’t answer her roommate’s question, as if she hadn’t heard Tang Yinuo’s sarcasm.

She quickly ran to the bookshelf and searched through it, chaotically flipping through a pile of books and materials to find a high school graduation yearbook.

After flipping it open to the last page, she indeed found Huo Sining’s handwriting and the Huo family’s landline number in the phone section.

Wu Jingyi wanted to call the Huo family to inquire about Huo Sining’s recent situation in Guangzhou.

If that bitch Huo Sining was indeed doing well, she might be able to get some money from her to spend.

After all, that woman was incredibly foolish, and all it took was some sweet talk to become her ‘good sister’.

With that thought, Wu Jingyi quickly typed the numbers into her cell phone and dialed.

The call connected, and after a few beeps, an impatient voice came through, “Who is it?”

Although Wu Jingyi had her clever moments, she had also seen Xu Lian’s aggressive side.

Knowing this woman was wild, overbearing, and impossible to reason with, Wu Jingyi’s heart tightened, and it took several mental turns to carefully speak out the words that had been on the tip of her tongue:

“Auntie Xu, hello, I’m Huo Sining’s classmate. I wanted to ask, do you know anything about Huo Sining–”

Before Wu Jingyi could finish, Xu Lian exploded like a lit firecracker, cursing foully:

“Don’t know, don’t know, I sure don’t recognize a bitch like that. If you want to find out about her, go somewhere else, I don’t know! She has nothing to do with our Huo family anymore, and we don’t care whether she lives or dies from now on!”

Having said that, Xu Lian rudely hung up the phone. Wu Jingyi, still not recovered from the shock, could only gape, absolutely clueless.

What did Xu Lian’s words mean? Wu Jingyi was full of shock. She thought she had just heard Xu Lian say that Huo Sining was no longer related to the Huo family. What was going on? Wasn’t Huo Sining supposed to have gotten a job at a foreign corporation in Guangcheng with Xu Lian’s niece? Why was Xu Lian treating Huo Sining with such an attitude?

The more Wu Jingyi thought, the stranger it seemed. She wanted to call back for clarification, but remembering Xu Lian’s cursing, Wu Jingyi felt somewhat intimidated.

As Wu Jingyi hesitated, a phone call suddenly came in.

At the sight of the caller ID, Wu Jingyi’s body quivered, her eyes showing a flash of joy. All her previous chaotic thoughts were instantly tossed aside.

“Mr. Liang, why have you called?” Wu Jingyi’s eyes gleamed, yet her voice was softer than it had ever been.

On the other end, Liang Jinhong laughed lightly, “Didn’t I tell you last time at the club that I’d pick you up to go out this weekend? Have you forgotten?”

Wu Jingyi replied eagerly, “I didn’t forget, I just didn’t expect you to be serious. I thought it was a joke you were telling me?”

How could she possibly forget? Ever since she returned from the clubhouse last time, she had been looking forward to the weekend.

When the weekend arrived, she got up early, found her favorite skirt, put it on, and dressed herself up as a pretty, yet not overly innocent student.

However, Wu Jingyi waited all morning without a call from Liang Jinhong and felt a bit disappointed. She thought his words were just playful banter that he’d forget afterward, but against her expectations, Liang Jinhong actually called to ask her out.

Liang Jinhong said earnestly on the other end of the phone, “That’s not right. Although I, Liang Jinhong, may be unreliable, a gentleman’s promise is to be kept. I promised a lady, and I must deliver. So, beautiful Miss Wu, would you do me the honor of accompanying me for a stroll?”

Wu Jingyi pursed her lips and smiled, her heart filled with joy, “Alright, where are you? I’ll come find you in a bit.”

Liang Jinhong laughed, “Where’s the sense in letting a lady come to find me? I’m right below your dorm, I’ll give you half an hour to get ready.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Jingyi was both surprised and delighted. She peered hurriedly from her window and indeed saw a car parked not far from her dorm building, under a camphor tree, with Liang Jinhong standing in front, phone in hand, looking her way.

Wu Jingyi’s face flushed red, and her heart started pounding with such force that it felt as though her entire being might take flight.

Without further ado, she quickly grabbed her handbag and dashed down the stairs.

“Mr. Liang!”

Liang Jinhong planned to return to his car to wait, but just as he opened the door, he heard a voice from the opposite side.

Looking up, he saw a girl in a blue dress running towards him from across the street, like an elegant blue butterfly, and it stirred something in Liang Jinhong’s heart, softening his demeanor.

Liang Jinhong was momentarily captivated by the sight, but by the time Wu Jingyi approached, his expression had returned to its usual demeanor, with a slightly frivolous smile, he asked, “How come you’re so quick? Isn’t it said that it takes at least half an hour for women to get ready before they go out?”

As he said this, Liang Jinhong’s gaze travelled up and down Wu Jingyi’s figure, evident that she must have spent some time dressing up, yet not even three minutes had passed, had they?

Wu Jingyi’s face turned red as soon as she heard him and she explained awkwardly, “I was planning to go shopping with my roommate, so…”

Liang Jinhong’s face showed a gentle smile, “Shopping, eh? That’s a great idea. How about I accompany you then?”

Wu Jingyi immediately looked up in surprise, and then remembering the way Liang Jinhong spoke at the clubhouse and what Sister Chen had said about his family, she became somewhat nervous and modestly said,

“That’s not so good, is it? I shouldn’t take up your time with my affairs. Going shopping is something I can do next time with my roommates. Mr. Liang, you should proceed with your own plans.”

Wu Jingyi lowered her head, feigning shyness, with a blush spreading to her ears.

Seeing the girl in front of him so restrained and trying hard to appear calm, Liang Jinhong’s lips curved gently into a smile as he said, “I don’t have any particular plans, actually. I just wanted to invite you out for a meal and to watch a movie. It’s still early; we have time to shop first and then go eat.”

“Really?” Wu Jingyi’s eyes lit up, and she smiled with her eyes crinkling, the light in them shining brightly.

The girl was pure and shy, unlike any other woman he knew, and Liang Jinhong nodded, couldn’t help but to laugh, “Get in the car.”
