Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 179: Chapter 176 The Abandoned Puppy

“Are you insane? Didn’t you see someone was driving here? Casually throwing things out of the car window—if something happened, would you be responsible?!”

Qin Shaoyou regained his senses and immediately became furious, shoving open the car door and bellowing at the Honda.

Huo Sining hurriedly got out of the car and rushed to the front, crouching down before she could make out what was under the tire; she was stunned.

The object that had been thrown out was actually a greyish-brown puppy!

Perhaps from that throw, the puppy had landed hard on the ground, covered in injuries, with even blood seeping from the corners of its mouth.

The small dog lay curled up beside the tire, trembling uncontrollably.

As Huo Sining approached, the puppy weakly opened its eyes and gave her a look, its clear eyes filled with innocence and confusion.

At this moment, the Honda also came to a stop.

A woman jumped out from the passenger side and ran up in front of Qin Shaoyou’s car, glanced at the puppy on the ground, and immediately broke into sobs.

The Honda driver kept yelling from the car:

“What are you looking at? If it didn’t die from the fall, it would sooner or later succumb to illness. Keeping it would only bring misfortune! It’s just an animal, if you like it, we can go back and buy another one!”

The woman, though reluctant, still hardened her heart, apologized to Huo Sining, and then hurried back to the Honda.

Soon the car drove off, leaving behind a stunned Xie Junwan and a puppy teetering on the brink of death.

Most drivers are superstitious, and having nearly run over a dog had left Qin Shaoyou with a lingering fear, his hatred for that despicable driver who threw out objects while driving was itching at his teeth.

Unexpectedly, on turning back, he saw Huo Sining holding the injured puppy, which was bleeding from the mouth and looking pitifully miserable.

Qin Shaoyou guessed the puppy wouldn’t survive, but he just couldn’t bring himself to tell Huo Sining to leave it behind.

The young dog was frail and undernourished, with matted and dirty fur, its eyes dim and lifeless.

Any discerning person could see that the dog was seriously ill, and being thrown out of a moving car just now was a fatal blow for it.

Huo Sining sighed in her heart; after all, it was a life, and to let such a small puppy suffer so much torture right before death, the owner of the dog was truly committing a sin.

Seeing the weak condition of the dog, Huo Sining’s heart overflowed with sympathy, and she got into the car with the puppy, “Teacher Qin, hurry back to the city and take it to the pet store to see a doctor, this dog might not make it!”

Qin Shaoyou had no choice but to step on the gas and speed towards the city.

Feeling the puppy’s painful breaths and restless whimpering in her arms, Huo Sining soothingly stroked its head.

Perhaps sensing Huo Sining’s kindness, the puppy gradually calmed down, rubbing its head against her arm with difficulty, and even stretched out its tongue to lick Huo Sining’s palm.

The dampness and tickling in her palm made Huo Sining suddenly remember how she had used Spiritual Energy to heal the wounds of a dolphin and a python, and a thought flickered in her heart.

Intent moving with the heart, Huo Sining glanced at Qin Shaoyou in the driver’s seat without a change in expression. She continued to stroke the puppy’s head with her left hand, while her right palm secretly reached for its abdomen. With focused concentration, she soon summoned the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl into her palm.

Because the Spiritual Energy of the Azure Pearl was tangible, Huo Sining worried that Qin Shaoyou might detect it, so she dared not transfer it too quickly. She cautiously infused the Spiritual Energy into the whelp’s body, bit by bit.

Through the sparse dog hair, the Spiritual Energy followed the puppy’s vascular network and seeped in little by little.

The moment it entered the pup’s body, Huo Sining distinctly felt the dog in her arms shudder violently, and then it stopped moving.

This startled Huo Sining, wondering if the Spiritual Energy couldn’t save the dog from its injuries.

As she bent her head in her haste, she unexpectedly discovered that, in the blink of an eye, the young canine’s eyes had begun to sparkle with intelligence. Its pitch-black, bright eyes wide open, it looked at Huo Sining with a face full of curiosity.

Huo Sining paused, and the flow of Spiritual Energy broke. Perhaps appreciating the benefits of the Spiritual Energy, the moment the pup realized Huo Sining had ceased, it struggled discontentedly, emitting a soft whining sound, and even extended its tongue to incessantly lick Huo Sining’s fingers. It looked at her pleadingly, as if signaling for her to continue.

In an instant, Huo Sining was captivated by this little creature; she hadn’t expected such a small pup to be so spiritually receptive.

Seeing the dog seemed more spirited, Huo Sining relaxed, knowing that the Spiritual Energy must be helping the dog’s injuries. She was not stingy and continued to transmit the Spiritual Energy.

Within just ten minutes, the wounds on the puppy began to heal gradually.

Fearing that Qin Shaoyou would notice something amiss, Huo Sining didn’t dare to fully heal the wounds. She could only treat the internal contusions within the pup’s body, leaving the superficial flesh wounds unhealed.

A few minor scrapes wouldn’t threaten the little dog’s life. To avoid arousing suspicion, Huo Sining had to let the puppy endure a little longer.

After healing the pup’s injuries, Huo Sining was preparing to withdraw her hand, but as she touched a scrape on the abdomen, her hand came away covered in fresh blood. At that moment, the Azure Pearl on her forehead suddenly flashed.

Slightly startled, Huo Sining instinctively bent down to examine the pup.

This was merely a months-old puppy, a mixed breed that didn’t seem to be any prestigious variety; it shouldn’t be worth much money. So why did the Azure Pearl react?

Wondering, Huo Sining suddenly had a thought that made her jump with shock.

Her hand had touched the dog’s abdomen when the Azure Pearl started to shimmer, suggesting the problem was with the dog’s belly. Inside the dog’s stomach, and something that the Azure Pearl could recognize as valuable, could that be a dog treasure?

Although Huo Sining didn’t keep dogs, she had heard of dog treasures.

In her previous life, Xu Lian’s father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Huo Sining had accompanied Xu Lian to several traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, and one of the doctors prescribed a medication that included a dog treasure.

Dog treasures, along with cow gallstones and horse treasures, are known as the “Three Treasures” in traditional Chinese medicine. Not only are they highly valuable, but they are also extremely rare. Back then, Xu Lian mobilized numerous relatives to search for it for over half a year to no avail, and her father eventually passed away after months of suffering from the illness.

Huo Sining had left Rongcheng and didn’t care what would become of Xu Lian and the Huo family, thus she didn’t plan to prematurely inform Xu Lian about her father’s future illness.

Call her selfish or callous, but she just wanted to live her own quiet life. She knew all too well that once involved with Xu Lian’s family, her future would never be peaceful.

Dog treasures are hard, stone-like substances that grow in a dog’s stomach, usually round or oval in shape. They are typically formed only in the bodies of sick dogs.
