Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 159: Chapter 156 Initiation

The secret bid opening time was at ten in the morning, and Su Jinyuan and her party arrived at the venue early, successfully securing seats in a corner.

At this time, there were not many people looking at the Bright Bid Area, as most of those entering were waiting for the ten o’clock opening of the secret bid jade raw materials.

A large electronic screen hung in the center of the bid field, and upon entering, Su Jinyuan told Huo Sining and the others that, come ten o’clock, the screen would display each secret bid winner’s bid number and the highest bid price.

Since everyone’s admission membership card had a number, each bidder knew in their heart who had won the bid.

Aside from the auctioneer and the buyer, no one else would know who the final bidder was.

If the winning bidder did not wish to gamble on stones on the spot, the fate of these secret bid jade raw materials would become a mystery.

Of course, this also had a benefit, which was the non-disclosure of the buyer’s information, reducing the coveting of some lawbreakers.

Huo Sining and the others had not sat for long before Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian also walked in, looking around before quickly spotting Su Jinyuan’s group. Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian nodded at Su Jinyuan and walked over without hesitation.

Not long after, Zhou Zhen and the fat man also walked in, followed by Ye Zixin, Wu Linger, and Liu Meiling. Fortunately, those people went to the other side. Since Huo Sining and the group were sitting in a corner, they did not attract their attention.

As it got closer to nine o’clock, more people began to enter the bid field, with nearly everyone staring up at the pitch-black screen, anxiously waiting for it to light up.

Waiting times always feel long. Just when the venue was overflowing with people and everyone was becoming impatient, the electronic screen finally lit up.

The bids were open!

The large venue finally quieted down, and the previously noisy crowd each lifted their heads, eyes glued to the electronic screen.

The opening was according to the numbering of the secret bids, starting with Bid Number One, of course.

The electronic screen kept rolling, yet the entire bidding hall was silent as a grave.

The first few bids were ordinary jade raw materials, but their prices were not cheap. Bids with a base price of a few hundred thousand unexpectedly reached several million.

Such crazy high prices left many people in the venue stunned.

“I won! Bid number ten is mine!”

As the electronic screen continued to roll, suddenly an excited shout from a winning bidder shattered the silence of the scene.

Instantly, the venue exploded like a drop of cool water poured into hot oil, with murmurs arising from all around.

Bid number ten? Huo Sining vaguely remembered that it was an average-looking piece with a base price of just over a hundred thousand.

She looked up curiously at the electronic screen, which showed that the bid number ten had a final bid price of one million one hundred and eighty thousand.

“That’s just not reliable, is it? That’s just an ordinary piece of jade raw material, is it really worth that much?”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but mutter to herself. The winning bid was more than ten times the base price. Was the jadeite that would be cut from such a cost-indifferent investment really going to earn back its capital?

“Madmen buy, madmen sell, and there are madmen waiting. This is the current state of stone gambling; if you don’t buy, there are plenty who will,” Su Jinyuan couldn’t help but laugh.

Next to him, Ouyang Jun also explained, “The raw materials in Pingzhou are all transported from Myanmar, but now the four major families over there are disputing over the mine veins, creating a tense situation that could lead to war at any moment. Consequently, Pingzhou is affected as well, with many people worrying that the jadeite public market might not open next year, so they’re frantically buying up.”

Huo Sining was taken aback; she hadn’t realized that there was such a reason behind it. However, seeing the excited expressions on the faces of the winning bidders, she couldn’t help but shake her head— buying frenziedly was not the right move, even if there were no raw materials to purchase.

Even if those bids were successful, so what? Unless they’re sold on, gambling on stones would inevitable lead to losses.

With inflated prices, Su Jinyuan, Ouyang Jun, and a few others were also on edge, their eyes glued to the electronic screen.

“Damn it! This is just outrageous! Who the hell made that bid? Eight million and ten thousand, I bid eight million, just one thousand short of winning! Damn it, who’s bidder 295? Don’t let me find out who you are, or I’ll beat you up every time I see you!”

As the screen scrolled to a bid number in the hundreds, a man seated not far from Huo Sining suddenly stood up, cursing and making a scene, which made Huo Sining and Su Qingqing struggle not to chuckle.

But though the man cursed fiercely, it was to no avail; the bidding result had been announced. Even if he was filled with anger and regret, what could he do? The opening of the bids only announced bidder numbers, not names. He didn’t even know who had won the bid. Could he really go find the person and beat them up?

Huo Sining couldn’t help but shake her head, just as she was about to check other bids, a thought suddenly crossed her mind.

Wait a second, she remembered seeing Su Jinyuan’s membership card, which seemed to have the number…

With this thought, Huo Sining quickly looked up at Su Jinyuan.

As she did, she saw the corner of his mouth tilted up, a glint of cunning flashing in his drooping eyes, and a face that couldn’t hide his pride and excitement.

It was indeed him!

Huo Sining felt both happy for Su Jinyuan and secretly worried for him.

Just an extra thousand yuan, and a good rough stone nearly slipped through the fingers. The undercurrents in the hidden bid area were much more intense than in the Bright Bid Area.

As more and more hidden bids were called, some bidders were beaming with joy and pride while others hung their heads in dejection, pale-faced. Still, others held crucifixes in their hands, muttering prayers and blessings to themselves. The whole bidding scene was like a play, reflecting a multitude of life’s dramas.

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian also placed a few hidden bids, but the expressions on their faces remained calm, Huo Sining could not tell whether they had won their bids or not.

However, Huo Sining and her companions were merely there to join in the excitement of the bid watching; they did not much care about the other bids, their ultimate curiosity lay in who would win bid number 2547.

All three women loved to watch the excitement, especially Su Qingqing, who was eager to see Zhou Zhen dig his own grave and his plan backfire spectacularly!

More than an hour passed before they finally saw bid number 2547 roll out from the bottom of the electronic screen.

Not only Huo Sining and her two companions, many people in the entire venue were watching the bidding price of this piece of raw material.

A lot of people had high hopes for 2547 and as a result, at the time of submitting the bid sheets, 2547 was the only bid in the entire venue whose box was filled even before the deadline had arrived.

So many people bidding showed just how tempting this bid was to the stone gambling enthusiasts.
