Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 156: Chapter 153: Being Followed

Hearing Su Jinyuan’s response, Huo Sining nodded.

She could understand Su Jinyuan’s mindset. After all, the piece he was interested in was a giant block weighing over a hundred kilograms. If the stone turned out positive after cutting, it wouldn’t just be a matter of obtaining a large piece of raw material. Using the title of “King Biao,” he could also make a splash at the Pingzhou Public Plate and take advantage of the situation to boost his company’s fame—an enticing three-in-one deal that was enough to make anyone green with envy.

However, Su Jinyuan’s determination did not last long. In the afternoon when they returned to the Jade Public Plate, it wasn’t long before he ran into Gu Xu and others.

Without any change in his demeanor, Su Jinyuan asked, “I wonder what you two think of the rough piece numbered 2547?”

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian were taken aback upon hearing this, exchanging a glance.

During lunch, Gu Xu had told them that there was something off with piece 2547, mentioning an “insider tip” he’d obtained from the organizers. Around the same number, many jadeite stones had been unearthed, but once cut, they all turned out to be sand holes with not a single one rising in value.

This suggested that the jadeite in that area might have encountered some special circumstances during the earth’s crustal movements, leading to the formation of so many sand holes.

Gu Xu’s revelation had indeed startled Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, who instantly realized that the silent bid for number 2547 was a deliberate setup by the organizers, targeting the gamblers’ psychology of becoming the King Biao and making a fortune.

And judging by the situation during the day, this trap was very successful and likely to drive countless jadeite enthusiasts into a frenzy.

However, Gu Xu’s “insider tip” had severely dented the confidence of Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian. They had not expected such a significant pitfall with the rough stone they were determined to win, which depressed them greatly.

The two had no doubt about Gu Xu’s words.

Firstly, the three of them had grown up together like brothers, making it highly unlikely and unreasonable for Gu Xu to deceive them;

Secondly, given Gu Xu’s job nature and abilities, he indeed had a better chance of uncovering insider information than they did.

Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian were not the kind to lose their heads over slight temptations. Their initial intention in attending the Jade Public Plate was just for fun. Hearing Gu Xu’s information, they immediately decided to back out without hesitation.

What Ouyang Jun didn’t expect was that Su Jinyuan would come to probe the situation that afternoon and that Su Jinyuan appeared to have also noticed something amiss.

Ouyang Jun was not a selfish person, and he had already made inquiries. Knowing that Mr. Su and Huo Sining were cousins and that Huo Sining had once saved his life, he wouldn’t hide important information just for his own sake, especially as a courtesy to Huo Sining.

With this in mind, Ouyang Jun smiled, leaned in close to Su Jinyuan, and whispered, “Mr. Su, since you’ve asked, I won’t hide it from you. We’ve received an insider message; there might be some problem with this rough stone, and it’s said to be quite tricky. So if Mr. Su’s funds are not particularly abundant, I suggest not getting involved in these murky waters.”

Upon hearing this, Su Jinyuan’s heart jolted, and he instinctively looked up at Ouyang Jun.

Although Ouyang Jun’s face bore a smile, his eyes were very sincere. Clearly, he was not trying to test him but was genuinely offering advice.

Su Jinyuan quickly took the hint, nodded, and said no more.

He had never expected Huo Sining’s words to be true.

No matter what insider information those two had, with the financial resources of Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, pulling out several tens of millions was still very casual for them.

However, these two actually gave up such a good semi-gamble rough stone, which shows that 2547 wasn’t not high in gamble but completely non-gambleable. Otherwise, Ouyang Jun wouldn’t have given up so readily.

At this thought, Su Jinyuan couldn’t help but shudder. If Huo Sining hadn’t noticed something amiss with Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, if Huo Sining hadn’t mentioned it to him, if he hadn’t taken it seriously, he might have fallen headlong into this doomed rough stone at the Pingzhou Public Plate!

Su Jinyuan turned his head to look for Huo Sining but was surprised to see Huo Sining and his two companions running towards the Bright Bid Area without looking back, striding with an air of confidence.

Su Jinyuan felt both annoyed and amused inwardly, shook his head, and led the two masters towards the dark bidding area.

However, after not observing many bids, he noticed something amiss.

While Su Jinyuan and the two Master Hes were evaluating the stones, there were always two people secretly following them.

“Mr. Su, someone is following us.” Master He, an experienced man, realized the problem right away and quickly pulled Su Jinyuan aside to whisper a warning.

Upon hearing this, Su Jinyuan’s face changed, and following Master He’s gaze, he indeed saw two people trailing behind them, their eyes flickering and sneaky.

Seeing Su Jinyuan looking over, the two instantly turned their heads away guiltily, pretending to casually examine the rough stones behind them.

A smirk appeared on Su Jinyuan’s face, showing a mocking expression, “It must be Zhou Zhen’s men!”

Su Jinyuan wasn’t foolish. In Pingzhou, other than having a feud with Zhou Zhen, he had no other enemies. Any normal person could deduce that these tails were sent by Zhou Zhen!

“They’re from the Zhou Family?!” Master He turned back to glance at the two men, puzzled, and asked, “What are they planning to do?”

Su Jinyuan smiled, “What else can it be? They just want to attack Su’s in a different way. He probably thinks that as long as he knows which rough stone we are interested in, he can get in front of us and snatch it first.”

Upon hearing this, Master He’s face immediately darkened, and he said through gritted teeth, “The Zhou Family is really regressing, resorting to such despicable tactics!”

Su Jinyuan, however, nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders, not at all concerned about the two people following him. Although he hadn’t expected to encounter this situation, he had made preparations in advance. He didn’t directly fill out the bid after liking a stone, but recorded the details in a notebook, planning to bid on the last day altogether.

“We don’t need to worry about these little tricks; our bids are filled out and submitted afterward, so even if the Zhou Family watches closely, could they peek at how much money I’ve bid?”

Su Jinyuan chuckled, shaking his head, yet his eyes flashed with a hint of a fierce look.

Even though malicious competition didn’t affect Su Jinyuan much, it was still irritating, especially with two tailers always making one feel uncomfortable.

Did Zhou Zhen think that he, Su Jinyuan, was made of clay?

A thought flashed through Su Jinyuan’s mind. Without showing any outward sign, he glanced back at the two followers and decided to set up a trap for Zhou Zhen.

Moving from one stone to another, Su Jinyuan evaluated them seriously, but no matter how you looked, his expression seemed to be somewhat nonchalant, until he reached the bid for 2547, where his expression suddenly became solemn.
