Urban Martial Saint

Six skeletons gripping the edge of the coffin lid, exerting force together, seemingly trying to lift the coffin lid.

However, the coffin lid seemed nailed to the coffin. No matter how hard they tried, the coffin lid didn’t budge, almost as if their efforts were futile. These six skeletons tried several times but still couldn’t push the coffin lid open. They seemed somewhat annoyed and started kicking and hitting the surroundings of the coffin, appearing to vent their anger.

The coffin appeared to be wooden, but despite being kicked and hit by these six skeletons, it remained motionless, as if it hadn’t been affected at all. In fact, Ye Qing knew about the condition of these six skeletons; their strength wasn’t insignificant. But why was there no effect when they resisted the coffin? What was unique about this coffin?

Seizing the moment when the attention of the six skeletons was entirely focused on the coffin, Fat Wang tugged at Ye Qing’s clothes, gesturing an escape plan. Fat Wang wasn’t dumb; upon seeing these six skeletons, he knew the deal couldn’t be done, so he was inclined to flee.

”Where to run!” Ye Qing glanced at him and said, ”We came in to find this Knife Saint’s coffin; now we’ve finally found it, what’s the point in running?”

”But the coffin can’t be opened at all, what use is it for us to be here?” Fat Wang pouted.

”The coffin can definitely be opened!” Ye Qing said solemnly, ”Their method is just incorrect.”

”What other method could there be? These six skeletons, each strong as a Hercules, can’t open this coffin, yet you plan to open it?” Fat Wang said.

Ye Qing glanced at Fat Wang and said, ”Think about it, if no one can open this coffin, then who originally discovered that the Knife Saint’s coffin isn’t empty?”

”Uh…” Fat Wang was momentarily speechless; indeed, Old Wang Ba had mentioned this matter. Those supreme beings who had once entered the Heaven Earth Man Three Gates found all coffins empty except for the Knife Saint’s. This news conveyed another message, that someone once opened the Knife Saint’s coffin. But how did he open it?

After a moment of silence, Ye Qing patted Fat Wang’s shoulder and said in a low voice, ”Fatty, you go distract those six skeletons; I’ll go and take a closer look!”

”Why don’t you go distract them and let me take a look?” Fat Wang immediately protested.

”Very well!” Ye Qing nodded, ”I’ll go and distract those skeletons; you take a look at the coffin, and by the way, try to open it.”

After speaking, Ye Qing rushed out, and Fat Wang, wanting to change his mind, found it was too late. Distracting those skeletons seemed dangerous, but these skeletons were slow, and as long as they hadn’t exhausted their strength, one could avoid them. But opening the coffin was different; nobody knew if there were hidden mechanisms inside. Truthfully, Fat Wang regretted it now, preferring to distract the skeletons and let Ye Qing open the coffin. However, Ye Qing was already out, and it was too late for regrets.

Helplessly, Fat Wang also followed. Seeing Ye Qing had drawn away the skeletons, he reluctantly approached the coffin, meticulously searching around it to see if there was any mechanism.

After searching for over ten minutes, Fat Wang found nothing and turned to Ye Qing, ”Young Ye, it’s useless; there’s no mechanism on this coffin.”

”Really?” Ye Qing frowned slightly, looking at the slowly pursuing skeletons behind him, ”Let’s switch; you distract these skeletons, and I’ll take a look.”

”Hey, you don’t believe in Fat Lord, do you?” Fat Wang muttered but quickly jumped to replace Ye Qing, distracting the six skeletons. Honestly, he was truly unwilling to be near that coffin again. Standing beside it, he felt uneasy without knowing precisely why.

Ye Qing maneuvered around the six skeletons, approached the coffin, and bent down to examine it closely. After a comprehensive search, the result matched Fat Wang’s discovery; there was nothing on the coffin resembling a mechanism. The only possible exception was the long knife embedded in the coffin. Frankly speaking, if Ye Qing hadn’t pushed the knife himself, he wouldn’t accept a long knife embedded in the coffin.

Finding no special feature on the coffin, Ye Qing then looked at the long knife, his eyes narrowing slightly. When the long knife was embedded in the coffin, a pit had sunk down, exposing the chamber below. This indicated that the interaction between the knife and the coffin triggered this mechanism. So now, if the knife were driven further into the coffin, would anything else occur?

Unable to find any possible mechanism on the coffin, Ye Qing could only focus on the long knife. Once the possibility occurred to him, Ye Qing immediately jumped onto the coffin, gripping the knife handle firmly, and pressed the knife downward.

The knife advanced half a foot further, entirely piercing the coffin. If there was indeed a body inside, the knife likely touched it now, perhaps even stabbed it.

Just as Ye Qing pressed the long knife down half a foot, he distinctly felt a force beneath it, preventing it from going further, as if this force was supporting the knife.

Ye Qing’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that his suspicion was correct after all? What kind of force could be inside the coffin? Could there really be someone inside?

As Ye Qing’s heart filled with excitement, the coffin lid suddenly shook, almost causing Ye Qing to fall off.

Without hesitation, Ye Qing quickly leaped down from the coffin. The coffin lid began to shake again, giving the impression that someone was trying to come out of the coffin, causing the entire coffin to tremble incessantly.

At this moment, Fat Wang exclaimed, ”Young Ye, what did you do? Why did you anger the coffin?”

Just as Fat Wang finished speaking, the coffin lid suddenly flew off and landed on a nearby stone tablet. Strangely, the long knife remained stuck in the coffin, not moving with the lid’s flight.

”What’s happening? What’s happening?” Fat Wang asked again. Meanwhile, the six skeletons chasing him stopped. They turned around, staring with their empty eye sockets at the opened coffin, as if contemplating something. Surprisingly, they began slowly retreating, seemingly afraid of what was inside the coffin.

”What’s in the coffin?” Fat Wang widened his eyes, looking at the six skeletons backing away, ”What kind of thing scares even ghosts away?”

This fat guy kept considering the six skeletons as ghosts.

”I don’t know either...” Ye Qing replied, as he slowly approached the coffin, wanting to see for himself what lay inside.

”Hey, Young Ye, don’t go there...” Fat Wang shouted from afar, ”In our grave-robbing trade, the biggest taboo is witnessing a corpse come to life. When the coffin lid flies off, you don’t know what’s inside. If it’s a reanimated corpse, what will you do?”

Ye Qing ignored Fat Wang’s nervousness; he was unperturbed by such supernatural fears. After experiencing so much, Ye Qing learned that the so-called ghosts and spirits were just humans. What’s critical is power; without it, appearances mean nothing.

Ye Qing, possessing the power of Buddhist and Taoist Magic, had no fear even if something inside the coffin came to life. No matter what kind of ghost or spirit it was, could its strength surpass that of Buddhist and Taoist Magic?

With the protection of the three forces, Ye Qing’s courage grew, as he walked slowly to the edge of the coffin. He glanced inside and was instantly stunned.

Fat Wang watched nervously from afar; seeing Ye Qing freeze in place surprised him. He asked, ”Young Ye, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you speaking? What happened? What’s inside the coffin?”

Ye Qing remained motionless, while a light laughter emanated from within the coffin, ”Want to know what’s inside? Why not come take a look yourself?”

After a moment of silence, Fat Wang suddenly stepped back, his legs trembling, pointing at the coffin and stammering, ”Who... who’s talking?”

”You tell me,” the voice inside the coffin replied to Fat Wang.

Ye Qing finally regained his composure, stared directly into the coffin, and said deeply, ”It seems, you must be the Knife Saint of the Sword Saint Sect!”

”Hahaha...” A hearty laugh echoed from the coffin, followed by a tall man slowly sitting up inside.

The man’s tall stature meant even sitting, he towered over most standing people. If he stood up, it would be quite dramatic. From Ye Qing’s vantage point, the man must be over two meters tall, the kind that would have no trouble playing in the NBA.

Seeing the man’s height, Ye Qing immediately understood whose long knife he had previously seen. Such a giant knife, measuring two and a half meters, could only be wielded by a person this height — who else could manage it?
