Urban Martial Saint

The sudden burst of these water grasses indeed startled Ye Qing. At this moment, Fang Cai realized these water grasses were not plants and could entirely be considered animals, for they could move on their own, and their movement speed wasn’t slow at all. How could they be comparable to ordinary water grasses?

If it were an ordinary person encountering such water grasses, death would be certain. But Ye Qing was ultimately Ye Qing; seeing so many water grasses, he was just shocked internally but not too flustered. Instead, he calmly stood up and took down the scabbard of the Ancestor of Miao Dao from his back.

With a casual swing, the scabbard directly cut through the water grasses wrapped around Ye Qing’s legs. Watching from afar at the constantly stretching water grasses, Ye Qing slowly retreated a few steps and leaned his back against the stone wall behind him. This allowed him to avoid being attacked from both front and behind, providing him a bit more safety underwater.

The speed of these water grasses wasn’t fast, but the key was their overwhelming number. No one knew how many water grasses there were; anyway, hundreds of strands of water grass were spreading over together. In the water, the dark green grasses looked just like a ghost’s hair, all coming to wrap around you, which was a truly terrifying feeling.

Ye Qing tightly clenched the scabbard in his hand. When the first batch of water grasses rushed in, Ye Qing directly swung the scabbard and chopped away. Although these water grasses gave a terrifying feeling and were plethora, they weren’t very resilient. At least, under the Famed Instrument like the scabbard of the Ancestor of Miao Dao, these water grasses were just like ordinary silk threads, unable to withstand the power of the scabbard. With one slash, he could cut through dozens to tens of strands of water grasses.

Ye Qing continuously swung the scabbard in his hand, cutting off all the water grasses that came rushing incessantly, and countless pieces of water grass debris floated in the water ahead of him. Surprisingly, those chopped water grasses still weren’t dead, continuing to tumble and writhe underwater, just like a snake’s severed body that could still thrash about. Moreover, some were entangled around Ye Qing’s body, and in this short period, he was almost fully wrapped in these water grasses.

Fortunately, Ye Qing’s body was extremely tough. Although these water grasses had suckers and tendrils, they couldn’t pierce through Ye Qing’s skin, naturally failing to harm him in the slightest. However, being wrapped in so many water grasses, the feeling was quite uncomfortable.

Ye Qing wasn’t bothered about the water grasses on his body right now; the grasses coming from all around were increasing, forcing him to madly swing his scabbard to deal with them.

This situation lasted for a full five minutes; all around Ye Qing were piles of slashed water grasses, and his body was tightly wrapped with various types of them. Luckily, the speed at which the water grasses rushed had slowed somewhat, seemingly indicating there weren’t many left.

Ye Qing felt a bit more at ease, as if these water grasses continued endlessly, it would be truly deadly. Even if he wasn’t afraid of them, if they trapped him underwater for half an hour or more, he might suffocate to death.

Soon after, Ye Qing suddenly heard a noise in the water, much like an angry roar from someone. This was very odd since, underwater, humans couldn’t even open their mouths. How could a roar be produced?

Following this noise, the water grasses originally encircling Ye Qing gradually dispersed, as if they received some kind of signal.

Ye Qing didn’t know what had happened, but his instincts told him it wouldn’t be anything good. Hence, Ye Qing didn’t dare to be careless, hurriedly ripping off all the water grasses tangled on his body, while gripping the scabbard tightly, vigilantly observing his surroundings to guard against any unexpected events.

After this noise was heard, the current underwater seemed to have slowed down and was continuously weakening. This surprised Ye Qing, confirming something was amiss underwater and it wasn’t naturally occurring. The turbulent underwater currents must have some special reason!

While Ye Qing was pondering, a stream of water suddenly rushed toward him head-on. This startled Ye Qing; he knew the water flow was initially directed toward the center, and he was facing the center; how could the stream rush toward him? Did the water flow reverse in such a short time?

Before Ye Qing could react, the noise came again, and this time he heard clearly that it was emanating from somewhere not too far in front of him. Ye Qing’s heart skipped; there really was something making noise underwater, what could it be?

Suddenly, a few strands of water grasses burst out from the underwater mud not far in front of Ye Qing, rushing directly at him. These strands of grass were much larger than the ones Ye Qing had seen before; each one thick as an adult’s arm and resembling monstrous snakes underwater, giving an exceptionally terrifying feeling.

Seeing these water grasses, Ye Qing realized the true assailant had appeared. He dared not be careless, gripping the scabbard tightly. As those grasses approached, Ye Qing suddenly swung the scabbard, striking them head-on.

With a swift slash, the leading strands were directly cut by Ye Qing. However, the severed grasses didn’t stop, instead wriggled like snakes to Ye Qing’s side, wrapping around his body.

As these big water grasses approached, the ones originally tangled on Ye Qing seemed to receive a command, withdrawing completely. Therefore, Ye Qing was no longer entangled by small water grasses, but these handfuls of large water grasses wrapped around him like pythons, exerting a considerable force. Ye Qing had no doubt that if it were an ordinary person here, they might be strangled by these grasses.

Luckily, Ye Qing’s body was not ordinary, so these water grasses didn’t pose great harm to him. He ignored the ones wrapping him, continuing to swing the scabbard relentlessly at the large grasses, cutting many of them down.

A few large grasses, having been chopped nearly to pieces by Ye Qing, appeared frightened. Slowly, they retreated, without attacking Ye Qing further. Meanwhile, the underwater mud was slowly rising, as if something beneath was about to emerge.

After experiencing these things, Ye Qing no longer felt any panic. He held the scabbard tightly, staring at the muddy area intently. Regardless of what appeared from the water, he feared little. After all, compared to the Great Dragon Crocodile, and the Long-haired Monster, and the Eight-clawed Dragon Turtle and Pale Fish People from the Tomb of Ghost Valley Master, these water grasses were nothing. Those creatures’ fighting prowess was far tougher than these grasses!

Before long, a few large water grasses slowly stretched out from the mud again. However, these grasses didn’t rush to attack Ye Qing but rather slowly rose from the water, wrapping around nearby stones. Then, slowly, as if pulling something from the mud.

As these grasses exerted force, finally, a figure about one zhang in height was pulled out of the mud. This figure was covered in large grasses, appearing underwater like an enormous ghost, with a body full of grassy hair, looking exceedingly eerie.

Water surged continually, washing away the mud on this entity, revealing its form slowly.

Upon seeing the entity’s form clearly, Ye Qing’s eyes widened in disbelief. The figure was a person, a giant!

Indeed, it was in the shape of a person. Standing at one zhang high, with hands, feet, and a head with facial features. However, he was much larger than ordinary and appeared like a giant. Coupled with the water grasses on him, this figure seemed exceptionally spooky, resembling a monster, making one hesitant to glance more than once.

Though Ye Qing had seen several strange creatures before, encountering this giant astonished him. Such giants were already rare, let alone one covered entirely in these water grasses; it was uncanny. What kind of being was this? Why so bizarre?

Upon seeing Ye Qing, the giant roared angrily, similar to the noise Ye Qing heard earlier. It implied that the sounds Ye Qing heard before were from this giant’s mouth.

As the giant roared, a stream of water directly surged toward Ye Qing, colliding head-on with him. Luckily, Ye Qing’s back was against the stone wall; the water didn’t move him an inch. This led Ye Qing to realize the earlier water flow rushing him must have been initiated by this giant.

Seeing that the water flow couldn’t shake Ye Qing, the giant became further enraged. Stretching out his hands, he uttered unclear sounds toward Ye Qing, its meaning unknown. Whatever it was, after its roar, the water grasses behind it sped toward Ye Qing, seemingly intending to wrap him alive to death.

Ye Qing clenched the scabbard tightly, with no choice but to confront the giant directly. He hoped the giant’s strength wasn’t overpowering, or Ye Qing would be in real trouble. After all, this was underwater, the giant’s territory!

The large water grasses spread rapidly, but under Ye Qing’s scabbard, their fate was the same. After several failed attacks, the giant became more furious, suddenly letting out a roar, charging headlong toward Ye Qing.
