Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing was speechless. It was possible, as Old Wang Ba explained. Leaving aside other things, Ye Qing absolutely trusted Old Wang Ba’s divination.

In this way, the matter became clearer. The reason why these people coincidentally appeared in this manor and fought with Old Chen was certainly because Old Wang Ba had predicted it beforehand. He intentionally led these people here to capture Old Chen, which unfurled the subsequent events.

Though Old Wang Ba was said to be sleazy and shameless, he was undeniably cunning. Even when he was caught by the opposition, he could still play them like pawns, only he could achieve such a feat.

”So, you really have no idea who they are?” Ye Qing asked.

Old Wang Ba thought for a moment and said: ”Oh, I heard them talking once, speaking a few sentences in Japanese. If they aren’t Japanese, then they must have some collusion with them!”

This further validated Ye Qing and others’ suspicions; those people were Japanese, specifically Koga-ryu. So, the Koga-ryu had really begun to target the Xuanyuan Sword, and this could not be taken lightly.

Ye Qing led the group back to the main building, where members of the Yelu Family were seated in the hall. After this ordeal, they’d been tormented considerably, evident in the lingering anxiety among them.

As Ye Qing entered, the two Tomb Guarding Elders immediately stood up and walked towards him, saying: ”Son-in-law, you’ve finally returned!”

”...” Ye Qing was dumbfounded, these two simply didn’t know how to choose their words, especially since Huangfu Ziyu was right there, and they started calling out like that?

Huangfu Ziyu, having heard Ye Qing talk about the Yelu Family’s situation, flashed a glint of coldness in her eyes upon hearing the elders’ words. She took a deep breath and said sternly: ”What did you say?”

The two Tomb Guarding Elders were unaware of Huangfu Ziyu’s identity. Upon hearing her words, they were slightly astonished. One of them glanced at Huangfu Ziyu and said: ”We’re not talking to you!”

”But you are talking to my husband!” Huangfu Ziyu replied loudly.

”What!?” The two elders’ expressions instantly changed, glancing from Ye Qing to Huangfu Ziyu, they became infuriated, and pointed at Ye Qing, shouting angrily: ”Ye, give us an explanation!”

”You’re the Yelu Family’s son-in-law, but who is this woman? Are you trying to have your foot in two boats?”

”Such audacity, never has anyone dared insult the Yelu Family like this!”

”Ye, you shall take your own life!”

The two kept speaking one after another, not allowing Ye Qing any chance to speak, their voices were loud and unceasing. The words made Huangfu Ziyu’s gaze colder, and Yelu Ying’s face turned redder.

The others standing by were dumbfounded too; what was going on, how did Ye Qing become this family’s son-in-law? It’s said that even wise judges struggle with family matters, hence they dared not intervene in such affairs.

Ye Qing felt overwhelmed, helplessly saying: ”Can you two elders listen to my explanation?”

”What’s there to explain!” One of the elders shouted angrily: ”You dared to humiliate the Yelu Family like this, your blood must cleanse the disgrace!”

”I…I haven’t humiliated your Yelu Family!” Ye Qing hurriedly said: ”I never said I was going to marry Miss Yelu!”

Upon saying this, everyone looked at Yelu Ying. Yelu Ying’s eyes also reddened, though she was stubbornly holding back tears, everyone could see the sorrow in her eyes.

Seeing Yelu Ying like this, Ye Qing felt a pang of guilt. Uttering those words publicly was indeed not giving Yelu Ying face, but he had no choice.

”Ye, you ungrateful beast!” A male from the Yelu Family stood up, angrily reprimanding: ”What aspect of my sister is beneath you? Yet you still dare to say such things!”

”Ye Qing, we misjudged you!”

”Enough! Enough! Our Yelu Family hasn’t stooped to forcing someone to marry us!”

”Let’s go, no need to waste words with this beast!”

The Yelu family members were all filled with righteous indignation, standing up one by one ready to leave. Seeing this situation, Ye Qing was also extremely helpless. The reason he had always dared not meet the two Elders of the Yelu family was precisely because of this. Unexpectedly, what was meant to come still came, and now, this matter must be resolved.

Ye Qing raised his voice and said, ”Ladies and gentlemen, could you listen to what I have to say? After I finish, whatever you wish to do, Mr. Ye will not stop you.”

”What else is there to say!” A middle-aged woman from the Yelu family said in a deep voice, ”Ye, we must have been blind to treat you as a member of our Yelu family!”

”That’s right, we Yelu family really were blind, couldn’t even see you’re just a heartless beast!”

The Yelu family members shouted in anger, and on the other side, Huangfu Ziyu was enraged, about to argue. At this moment, Yelu Ying suddenly spoke: ”Everyone, stop talking, let... let Ye speak a few words...”

Everyone looked at Yelu Ying, this beautiful woman, with tears constantly turning in her eyes. Yet, she held on strongly, not allowing the tears to fall, her strong appearance was truly heartbreaking.

Only then did everyone stop, looking at Ye Qing, all giving face to Yelu Ying.

Ye Qing took a deep breath, cupped his hand towards Yelu Ying and said, ”Thank you, Miss Yelu!”

”Enough nonsense, say what you have to say quickly!” a woman shouted loudly.

Ye Qing looked at the woman, then at the Yelu family members, and said softly, ”First of all, Mr. Ye said I would not marry Miss Yelu, not because I look down on Miss Yelu, nor do I insult the Yelu family, but because Mr. Ye is already engaged!”

Saying this, Ye Qing reached out and took the hand of Huangfu Ziyu beside him, saying softly, ”Mr. Ye and Zi Yu’s matter, the heroes of the world can testify for Mr. Ye. Mr. Ye is not talented, but honored by Zi Yu’s deep love, for all that Zi Yu has done for Mr. Ye, Mr. Ye cannot repay in this lifetime. Zi Yu has deep affection for Mr. Ye, if Mr. Ye betrays Zi Yu, what face does he have to stand between heaven and earth?”

These words made Huangfu Ziyu blush, holding onto Ye Qing’s hand tightly. Her original anger had vanished, replaced by endless joy. She didn’t care to be angry with the Yelu family, just stood by Ye Qing’s side, wanting to enjoy this beloved feeling, not wanting to be influenced by others at all.

Ye Qing looked at the Yelu family members and said, ”The Yelu family members are also people of deep feelings and loyalty. If Mr. Ye fails Zi Yu, I’m afraid the Yelu family members will also look down on Mr. Ye, right?”

The Yelu family members looked at each other, unable to refute Ye Qing’s words.

Yelu Ying took a deep breath, looked at Ye Qing, and said softly, ”Ye, I just want to ask you one question. If... if there was no Miss Huangfu, would you...”

Saying this, Yelu Ying’s voice had already become as small as a mosquito. Even though she didn’t finish her sentence, everyone understood her intention.

Ye Qing sighed softly, looked at Yelu Ying, and said solemnly, ”Miss Yelu is unparalleled in talent and beauty. Whoever can marry Miss Yelu is fortunate. However, for Mr. Ye, there is no such thing as if. In this life, I’ve chosen Zi Yu, and will never turn my back on her. So, Miss Yelu, I’m sorry, but I fear I cannot answer your question!”

These words were actually a tactful refusal. Yelu Ying’s expression was a bit bleak, looking at Huangfu Ziyu beside her, her gaze was quite complex, with envy and sentiment.

Huangfu Ziyu was as if she had swallowed honey, Ye Qing had never spoken such words to her, nor did she demand Ye Qing to say such things. Because, in her heart, Ye Qing was a man of integrity who shouldn’t be bound by petty affections. But she never expected that in Ye Qing’s heart, there was also this gentle side, able to say such things, making her suddenly grateful for her past choice. Choosing Ye Qing for this life, she was not wrong!

Ye Qing looked at the Yelu family members and continued, ”Moreover, Mr. Ye has always respected the Yelu family from beginning to end, with no other intentions at all. In Mr. Ye’s view, the Yelu family is Mr. Ye’s friend. Whatever troubles the Yelu family encounters, Mr. Ye will do his utmost to help, and absolutely will not show any disrespect towards the Yelu family. Perhaps Mr. Ye has made mistakes, but Mr. Ye truly meant no offense, and asks the Yelu family members for forgiveness!”

The Yelu family members looked at each other, their initial extreme anger had diminished after Ye Qing’s words. Initially, they thought Ye Qing was insulting their Yelu family, but now it seems that Ye Qing had never disrespected their Yelu family. On the contrary, without Ye Qing, the Yelu family might have already ceased to exist.

Seeing no one speaking, Ye Qing took a deep breath, about to speak again. At this moment, a Tomb Guarding Elder suddenly said in a deep voice, ”Ye, have you finished speaking?”

”I...” Ye Qing was taken aback, and said, ”I have finished speaking. If there is any dissatisfaction, Elders can tell Mr. Ye. If Mr. Ye indeed did something wrong, Mr. Ye will personally apologize to all of you!”

”Hmph, don’t you know what you’ve done wrong?” The Tomb Guarding Elder said coldly, ”Did you forget what I said? The secrets of the Yelu family can only be known by our people. If anyone else learns our secrets, they must either become a member of our Yelu family or be killed to forever keep the secret. Hmph, since you refuse to marry into our Yelu family, you may as well end your own life here now!”

Ye Qing was speechless at once, and this matter with the Yelu family was most troublesome precisely because of this. Previously deceived by Old Wang Ba, he learned the Yelu family’s secret and was thus thoroughly entangled in it.
