Urban Martial Saint

The Miaojiang Region, the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains, is like a place where demons and spirits from myth and legend gather, filled with all sorts of terrifying tales.

In the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains, almost all residents are Miao People. The Seventy-Two Dong Miao People, each with their own duties, possess strong individual strengths. Although it lacks the electric modernization of the outside world, each dong in these Miao Borders has its own style. Furthermore, the Miao People are skilled in Gu nurturing, and the power of Gu insects is formidable. Thus, very few outsiders dare to set foot in these Hundred Thousand Great Mountains of Miaojiang, as being struck by Gu insects would surely be a death sentence.

While the Miaojiang Seventy-Two Dong are all Miao People, in reality, there are mutual grudges between them. It is like neighbors living close for a long time; grudges are bound to arise. Moreover, the Seventy-Two Dong have inherited their traditions for thousands of years, and it’s impossible for there to be no grudges among them.

In the past, the grudges between the Seventy-Two Dong led to a state of antagonism most of the time. However, present-day Miaojiang is completely different; people of the Seventy-Two Dong live harmoniously together, as if no grudges ever existed, and regard each other as siblings.

Achieving this unity among the Seventy-Two Dong wasn’t just the result of force. Only one person can accomplish that: the Miaojiang Gu Mother, who is viewed as the shared leader by all Miao People!

The Miaojiang Gu Mother, who hadn’t been seen for centuries, is the spiritual pillar for all Miao People. Just as Buddhists revere the Buddha and Daoists revere the gods, although the Buddha and gods are fictional, the Miaojiang Gu Mother truly exists and is a real deity with a naturally strong influence. At least, no Miao Person would ever disobey the Miaojiang Gu Mother!

The Gu Mother Holy Temple in Zhenmu Dong is where the current Miaojiang Gu Mother resides. At this moment, all the Dong Masters of the Seventy-Two Dong are gathered in this Holy Temple.

On the most revered seat in the hall lies a graceful woman. The woman wears a black long robe that almost completely covers her, leaving only a pair of hands as smooth as jade and a pair of snow-white crystalline bare feet exposed. That snow-white softness, just watching it makes one’s heart race. From one pair of hands and feet, it’s clear that she’s an exceptionally beautiful woman, whose every gesture captivates.

Unfortunately, the woman’s face is shrouded by a layer of black gauze, covering her entire face while leaving only a pair of stunning eyes exposed. Even with just one look, she seems capable of capturing the soul, making it impossible for any man to meet her gaze.

This woman is the current Miaojiang Gu Mother, formerly the Fire Sang girl abandoned by everyone. Yet now, she has become the living deity of Miaojiang!

However, she abides by her old promise. Since coming here, she has never removed the black gauze from her face. She hasn’t allowed anyone to see her face because her beauty is reserved for Ye Qing; in this world, only Ye Qing has the privilege to see her face.

Beside the revered position, two people are seated: a woman with a frosty face and eyes full of a wronged, resentful aura, who is the Gu Mother’s elder sister, Huo Ying. Opposite her, sits an older man, the Wood Stretching Gu Master of Zhenmu Dong.

In the hall, after the Dong Masters of the Seventy-Two Dong finish bowing, they stand on either side. An older Dong Master steps forward and says, ”Greetings to the Gu Mother! The Seventy-Two Dong have been fully unified, and all Miao People are aware of the Gu Mother’s descent. The current Miaojiang is filled with jubilation; all Miao People rejoice with unprecedented unity and peace. Past grudges among the Seventy-Two Dong have been abandoned, and now all Miao People live harmoniously with no disputes arising!”

Upon hearing this, the Wood Stretching Gu Master at the front smiles with satisfaction. He has always been concerned about Miaojiang, and the past antagonisms between the Seventy-Two Dong led to much suffering among the Miao People. Now achieving harmonious coexistence is a great joy for the Miao People.

”Excellent!” The Gu Mother’s voice rings like a silver bell. She says, ”So, you’re saying that all matters of the Seventy-Two Dong have been resolved, right?”

That Dong Master replies, ”Indeed, under the wise leadership of the Gu Mother, the Seventy-Two Dong are now at peace, and Miaojiang prospers. If the Gu Mother wishes, we can set out anytime to show the Han people a lesson!”

The Gu Mother seems not to hear the latter part. She stands up, her bare feet touching the carpet before her, and says, ”So, are you saying I can now leave Miaojiang?”

”What?” The hall is in an uproar, with everyone widening their eyes, looking at the Gu Mother in astonishment, each wearing an expression of disbelief.

The idea of the Miaojiang Gu Mother leaving Miaojiang? This has never happened in the history of Miaojiang.

”Gu Mother, do you mean you wish to lead us personally into battle?” A Dong Master at the front asks with excitement, ”Do you want to personally step out and deal with those Han people?”

”Why would I want to deal with them?” The Gu Mother says, ”I wish to go out to find two individuals.”

”Find... whom?” Everyone is once again shocked; they thought the Gu Mother intended to lead them against the nearby Han people.

Among them, only the Wood Stretching Gu Master understood the thoughts of the Gu Mother the best, and knew who the Gu Mother was preparing to find. There was no doubt she was definitely going out to look for Ye Qing and Huangfu Ziyu. Actually, this was normal; after all, when the Fire Sang girl was like that in the past, only Ye Qing and Huangfu Ziyu treated her as a human. Now that she is unparalleled in beauty, with incredible strength, of course she wants to find these two people. This is actually the greatest wish in her heart.

However, the Fire Sang girl now is not the same as before; after all, she is the Gu Mother of Miaojiang, in charge of the entire Miaojiang, and the hope of all the Miao people. If she left Miaojiang, what would happen then? For Miaojiang, this is no different from losing its master, wouldn’t Miaojiang descend into chaos?

”Gu Mother, it’s not very appropriate for you to go out now.” Mu Chen stood up and advised, ”Miaojiang has just recovered its peace, but all the Miao people gave up their grievances because of you. You are the spiritual pillar of Miaojiang. If you leave now, wouldn’t the Miao people lose their spiritual pillar?”

”I’m just going out to find two people, it’s not like I’m not coming back, is it really that complicated?” the Gu Mother said, ”Once I find them, I’ll come back. It won’t affect anything.”

”This...” Mu Chen said, ”But Miaojiang has just regained its peace, it’s really not suitable for you to go out at this time. Gu Mother, would you consider waiting a little longer?”

”Wait again?” the Gu Mother said, ”Last time I said I wanted to go out, you said there was infighting among the Miao people, and asked me to resolve their internal conflict first. I listened to you. Now that the infighting is over, I want to go out, and again you’re saying it’s not a good time, asking me to wait again. Just how long do you want me to wait?”

Mu Chen was quite embarrassed, as the Gu Mother was the Master of Miaojiang. No matter what she said, he didn’t dare to refute her.

”Gu Mother, looking for those two people isn’t difficult. However, Miaojiang really needs you now, and it’s inconvenient for you to leave directly.” Mu Chen suggested, ”Why don’t you stay in Miaojiang for a little longer. Once the matters here are settled, I’ll personally accompany you to find them; I know where they live.”

”Really?” The Gu Mother was overjoyed; her biggest worry was not knowing where to find Ye Qing and Huangfu Ziyu after going out.

”Of course,” Mu Chen said. ”Why would I deceive you, Gu Mother?”

”Alright, I’ll listen to you!” The Gu Mother nodded in satisfaction, paused briefly, then shook her head immediately, saying: ”No, no, I really should not delay. I heard they have quite a few enemies outside; I don’t know if there will be any danger. I think it’s better to find them as soon as possible.”

”But in this situation in Miaojiang, you really can’t leave directly!” Mu Chen said urgently. ”Moreover, they won’t be in any danger. Their master is highly skilled in martial arts, no one can harm them.”

”Their master may be powerful, but he’s still just their master, not them. Their master can’t always be with them, can he?” the Gu Mother said.

”Gu Mother, you cannot leave!” a Dong Master below said anxiously. ”Miaojiang cannot do without you!”

”Exactly, Gu Mother, you are the spiritual pillar of the Miao people. If you leave, how will the Miao people get by?”

A group of Dong Masters below all clamored for the Gu Mother to stay and not leave the Miaojiang region.

These words caused the Gu Mother to frown slightly. As she was unsure of what to decide, Huo Ying, who was sitting beside her, suddenly stood up and said: ”Gu Mother, perhaps you should stay, and I can go out to find these two people for you.”

Huo Ying’s words made a sharp light flash in the Gu Mother’s eyes. She looked at Huo Ying and said: ”Yes, why didn’t I think of that? If you all go and help me find them first, then I wouldn’t need to rush out!”

As the Gu Mother spoke, she suddenly extended her right hand and let out a light whistle from her mouth. Soon, a buzzing sound arose in the great hall, followed closely by several black flying insects that flew over and landed on the Gu Mother’s hand. These insects had faint blood streaks on them, which were exactly those Fake Golden Silkworm Gu bred by Ning Qianshu.

Back then, Huo Ying nearly tricked everyone in Miaojiang with these Fake Golden Silkworm Gu, making them think she was the Gu Mother of Miaojiang. However, when the real Gu Mother appeared, those Fake Golden Silkworm Gu were of no use, and were directly collected by the Gu Mother. Nonetheless, since these Fake Golden Silkworm Gu had the bloodline of the Golden Silkworm Gu, they stayed by the Gu Mother’s side.

In such a short time, these Fake Golden Silkworm Gu had evidently changed quite a bit, with more bloodlines on their bodies, obviously due to further evolution. Additionally, their wing beats were louder than before, appearing more powerful.
