Urban Martial Saint

Tonight, a smuggling boat arrived again beside the pier, coming directly from Xiangjiang. As soon as the boat docked, five or six men dressed in black jumped off the boat.

These men all wore spacious coats, appearing capable, but the inside of the coats was bulging, and it’s clear that these men must be hiding something long beneath their clothes. Moreover, a glance at the faint murderous glint in their eyes shows that they are certainly not the friendly sort.

In fact, those smuggling themselves from Xiangjiang to Huaxia at this time are, in eight or nine cases out of ten, ruthless criminals, each having at least a murder to their name, unable to survive in Xiangjiang, so they flee to Huaxia to lay low. Here, it’s quite common, and among them are some ruthless bandits with heavy weaponry.

This area is very secluded, with numerous small Stone Mountains and hills dotted with small woods, making many places easy to hide people. So, even the police seldom come here to catch people. Due to the terrain here, catching even one person would require substantial police force, making it relatively safe for these smugglers.

These men seem to have come to Shenchuan City more than once; as soon as they disembarked, they walked straight along the coastal path towards Shenchuan City. It was clear that standing on Shenchuan City’s ground, these men visibly relaxed a lot and even began to chat.

”******, finally made it across!” One of the men spat, saying: ”That wench Ou Keren chased us so tightly, nearly caught by her. That bitch, once this blows over, I swear I’ll go back and kill her!”

”Leave it, Third Brother.” A man beside him shook his head, saying: ”Ou Keren holds a high position in Xiangjiang City’s police department now. If we hurt her, we’d never be able to go back to Xiangjiang again. We’re mainly about making money, no need to go against the police.”

”We don’t want to go against her, but she sure hasn’t planned on letting us go.” Third Brother discontentedly said: ”******, look at how she chased us. Fifth Brother and Lao Qi both stayed in Xiangjiang. How can we live without avenging this? Eldest Brother, don’t you agree?”

Walking in front, Eldest Brother didn’t speak, but the man beside him shook his head, saying: ”Third Brother, you better not talk. If you hadn’t killed every last member of that family, from elders to children, Ou Keren wouldn’t be chasing us so fiercely.”

”Damn, Second Brother, are you blaming this on me?” Third Brother glared, saying: ”That family saw our faces; if we didn’t kill them all, we’d definitely be in trouble later. I was thinking of everyone’s safety, too. In this line of business, can we avoid killing?”

Second Brother was about to speak when Eldest Brother suddenly said sternly, ”Wait a minute.”

Everyone was surprised, looking towards Eldest Brother, thinking he was going to say something. However, Eldest Brother never turned to look and just stared ahead intently. Following his gaze, they saw, on a small hill ahead, a man in white clothes with white hair, entirely snow-white, too far to see his features clearly. Yet, his entirely white attire seemed somewhat eerie in the moonlit night.

”Who is that?” Second Brother asked softly. This white-clothed, white-haired man stood right in the middle of the road, blocking their way, causing everyone some surprise.

”Could it be the police?” Another person quietly asked.

”Not likely, right?” Third Brother said, ”The police in Shenchuan City wouldn’t come here to block people. The mountain road is so winding, the police coming here to catch people is less likely than waiting in the city to arrest someone.”

”Then who is this?” Another man behind asked, ”Standing in the middle of the road, dressed like that at night, what’s he up to?”

Everyone exchanged looks, filled with doubt, unable to understand what this person was up to.

”Who cares? Judging by his look, even if he has a purpose, he’s just an old man; we few brothers wouldn’t be afraid of him, would we?” Third Brother patted his waist, saying, ”Even if it’s the police, in a real standoff, it’s not certain who would be at a disadvantage. Let’s go straight ahead; I guess he’s either a madman or a fool, ignore him!”

Without waiting for anyone to speak, Eldest Brother at the front said sternly, ”Take another route!”

”No way, right?” Third Brother glared, saying, ”Eldest Brother, taking another route would mean walking at least five or six more miles. For an old guy, do we really need to walk so far?”

”This is Shenchuan City, not Xiangjiang; better safe than sorry!” Eldest Brother spoke, directly turning and walking along a side path.

Seeing Eldest Brother like this, the group didn’t say anything further, following him onto the detour. But, they hadn’t walked far when Second Brother quietly said, ”Eldest Brother, something’s not right.”

”What’s wrong?” Eldest Brother asked curiously.

”Look.” Second Brother pointed behind them, and Eldest Brother turned to see. There was the man with white clothes and white hair, slowly walking towards them from not far behind.

Eldest Brother immediately frowned. They had taken a different path, indicating that this strange man had been following them all along. But what exactly did this man want with them?

These were all desperate men, very alert to danger. So, seeing the strange man in white clothes and white hair, they were all on guard.

”It seems this person really is targeting us!” Second Brother whispered, ”Eldest Brother, should we deal with him first?”

Eldest Brother pondered for a moment, slowly nodded, and whispered, ”There’s a corner ahead, we’ll ambush him there.”

The group moved to the corner ahead and immediately hid there, quietly waiting for the man’s arrival. As for the man in white, seeming oblivious, he walked right up to them. These men had been waiting, and when the man in white approached, Third Brother rushed up first, reaching out to cover the man’s mouth to prevent him from calling out. Meanwhile, Second Brother, quick as well, stabbed at the man’s heart with a dagger.

When they were in Xiangjiang, these men were also ruthless assassins, with many souls dead at their hands, so they were very coordinated in killing. These series of actions were swift and precise, leaving no room for defense.

The man in white had no defense either, getting his mouth covered and having the dagger just piercing into his chest. Everything went according to plan for these men, and seeing the dagger had gone in, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

”I thought it was someone notable, turns out he’s just a worthless old fool!” Third Brother sneered and turned to Eldest Brother, ”See, Eldest Brother, he’s just a worthless old coot, we were a bit too cautious!”

Eldest Brother sighed, about to speak, when suddenly, the man in white, whose heart was stabbed, reached out and grabbed Third Brother.

Everyone was shocked; they all thought this man in white was dead, and thus had not been paying attention to him. Who would have thought the man stabbed in the heart wasn’t dead yet and could still act, completely beyond everyone’s expectations.

”What...” Third Brother, unaware of what had happened, opened his mouth to shout, but was instantly grabbed by the neck and lifted by the man in white. The man’s hand held a short dagger, which he directly stabbed into Third Brother’s neck, killing him instantly without a chance to speak.

Seeing the man in white’s ferocity, the remaining four were even more frightened. Eldest Brother reacted the quickest, immediately reaching into his coat for his gun, shouting, ”Kill him!”

The two men nearby were already too late to grab weapons, simultaneously yelling and charging at the man in white, trying to pin him down. However, they completely underestimated the man’s strength. As they charged, he grabbed each by the neck, lifting them up and smashing them against nearby rocks, instantly dazing the two men. The man in white didn’t pause, cutting their necks with the dagger, just like Third Brother before them.

In that time, Second Brother had drawn a gun from his body. Seeing two brothers dead at the man’s hands, he immediately aimed the gun at the man’s back, repeatedly pulling the trigger until the bullets were spent.

Hit by several bullets, the man in white seemed unaffected, turning directly to grab Second Brother by the neck.

”How...how is that possible...” Second Brother struggled, growling, ”You...you’re wearing a bulletproof vest...”

The man in white didn’t speak, and similarly cut Second Brother’s neck with the short dagger. As Second Brother died, his face still bore an incredulous expression. Because he saw the blood flowing from the bullet holes in the man’s body, indicating he wasn’t wearing a bulletproof vest. Yet without a bulletproof vest, how did he survive so many gunshots without dying?

He may never understand this question. And on the scene, only Eldest Brother remained, his face full of terror. Facing someone impervious to gunshots, anyone would be frightened!

After killing four people in succession, the man in white directly turned to look at Eldest Brother. The latter was also ruthless, knowing he couldn’t escape, he pulled out a hand grenade from his waist, gritted his teeth at the man in white, ”Don’t come any closer, or we’ll die together!”

The man in white seemed not to understand what he was saying, walking directly towards him. Seeing the man’s posture, Eldest Brother grew more frightened, realizing the hand grenade couldn’t intimidate him, he was entirely powerless. As the man approached, Eldest Brother gritted his teeth and pulled the pin on the grenade, shouting angrily, ”Come any closer, and we’ll die together!”
