Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing led a few people back to the previous spot, but Boye and Weiye were already gone. The scene only left a few corpses, all belonging to Li Lianshan’s men.

These men of Li Lianshan were killed when Weiye forcibly smashed their heads onto the ground, making their deaths look quite tragic. Ye Qing was also furious seeing them. He had no idea that the murderous monk was not the same person as the two monks he had reprimanded earlier; he mistakenly thought those two monks had returned and killed these people.

This made him regretful. Had he known that these two monks were so cruel, he should not have held back. Even if he didn’t kill them, at the very least, he should have crippled their Martial Arts abilities to prevent further evil. If he had done that earlier, Li Lianshan’s men wouldn’t have had to die.

However, regretting it now was of no use. Ye Qing searched around for a while but found no trace of the two monks and had to give up eventually. He instructed his brothers to take Li Lianshan’s men’s corpses back, but he had already marked those two monks in his heart. If he sees them again, he definitely won’t show any mercy. These two monks not only kidnapped many children but also killed Li Lianshan’s men. In Ye Qing’s mind, these two were already deemed deserved of death.

Carrying several corpses back to Shenchuan City, Li Lianshan couldn’t help but grieve, as these brothers had followed him for quite a long time. In his fury and grief, Li Lianshan issued a manhunt order, instructing all his men to hunt down those monks.

Ye Qing and Zhao Chengshuang tried to comfort Li Lianshan for a while. With such a tragedy occurring, both of them felt uncomfortable, as these dead men were quite familiar to Ye Qing and Zhao Chengshuang. Now, they had all become cold corpses laid here, and one can imagine their feelings.

”In any case, we definitely cannot let these monks get away!” Zhao Chengshuang said angrily, ”What kind of monks are these, kidnapping so many children and killing so many people? These aren’t monks; they’re practically human traffickers!”

”Whether they’re traffickers or monks, don’t let me catch them, or I’ll kill them!” Li Lianshan gritted his teeth.

”Alright, calm down.” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”These monks have killed people and are surely hiding now. Around Shenchuan City, I guess it’s hard to find them. Don’t worry, I’ll contact our brothers in other places and have them keep an eye out for these monks. Now, the most important thing is the arrangements after our brothers’ deaths. They all have families, right? Old Li, you have to take care of this!”

”I’ve already arranged everything.” Li Lianshan said, ”Don’t worry about this. They’ve been with me for a long time. I’m definitely responsible for them. By the way, Ye Zi, what do these monks want? Why did they kidnap so many children?”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”I’m not sure for now. I’ll go ask Broom Star later.”

”Ask him, hurry.” Zhao Chengshuang said, ”These monks kidnapped so many children; there must be a reason. Once we know why they took the kids, we might find them!”

”Yes, yes, go ask now, go ask now!” Li Lianshan hurriedly said, eager to find these monks for revenge.

After bringing the children back, Li Lianshan’s men and the orphanage staff had settled the children; all of them were temporarily staying at the orphanage. The staff at the orphanage often accommodated orphaned children sent from various places, so they were experienced in matters like this. The children were temporarily housed, while the news spread through various media to have their families come and identify them.

Ye Qing, Zhao Chengshuang, and Li Lianshan rushed to the orphanage; the children were already resting. However, Broom Star was staying in a separate room and hadn’t slept yet. Seeing Ye Qing arrive, Broom Star wasn’t surprised; he quietly watched Ye Qing and the others. His intelligence and composure didn’t match his age more and more. Honestly, every time Ye Qing saw him, he felt that this child was extraordinary.

”Xiao Xing.” Li Lianshan entered the room, sat directly opposite Broom Star, and asked, ”Why did the monk take you today?”

Broom Star remained silent for a while and said, ”I don’t know the exact reason, but I think it might be related to the words I wrote at the door. When he took me, he specifically asked if those words were written by me.”

”You wrote words at the door? What words?” Li Lianshan asked curiously.

Ye Qing’s heart skipped a beat, and he stepped forward, asking, ”Xiao Xing, are the symbols you drew at the door letters?”

”I guess they are.” Broom Star replied, ”I’m not very clear, but seeing those words, I understand their meaning, so they should be letters.”

”Where did you see those letters?” Ye Qing hurriedly asked, recalling where he had seen similar symbols before.

Broom Star said, ”On a wooden box; these words were carved inside the box.”

”A wooden box?” Ye Qing’s expression changed. He quickly turned to close the room door and whispered, ”Where… where did you see this box?”

Seeing Ye Qing’s reaction, Li Lianshan and Zhao Chengshuang were puzzled.

”Ye Zi, is something wrong?” Li Lianshan asked curiously. Ye Qing shut the door; he clearly didn’t want others to hear. What kind of matter made Ye Qing so careful?

Ye Qing shook his head towards Li Lianshan, and Li Lianshan did not probe further. He understood some matters were off-limits to him, especially because he didn’t practice Martial Arts.

”It’s inside the orphanage.” Broom Star said, ”Buried under the east side’s under-construction water facility.”

Ye Qing was even more surprised because, while speaking earlier, he remembered where he had seen those symbols. Those symbols were precisely carved into the wooden box containing the Gold Silk Armor. According to the Netherworld Taoist’s explanation, these symbols were a blend of Taoist Incantations and Buddhist Texts, making them generally unreadable. Ye Qing’s question arose from suspecting Broom Star had seen the symbols inside the wooden box. Unexpectedly, Broom Star truly saw the wooden box. To be precise, Liu Mubai had hidden this Gold Silk Armor in the orphanage’s water facility underground when he came to Shenchuan City, as Liu Mubai had mentioned.

Broom Star has always carried numerous mysteries, which Ye Qing had become accustomed to. But this occurrence startled Ye Qing tremendously. Never mind other aspects; Liu Mubai’s concealment of the Gold Silk Armor was highly discreet, buried underground. Unless someone knew he hid it there, they couldn’t have guessed it was there, yet how did Broom Star see the Gold Silk Armor? Moreover, crucially, Broom Star just said he understood the meaning of these characters, which is astounding.

Broom Star is merely a child, who still lacks understanding of Huaxia’s characters; how could he comprehend these Taoist Incantations and Buddhist Texts? How is this possible?

”How did you find that wooden box?” Ye Qing asked softly.

Broom Star thought for a moment and said, ”I don’t know exactly why. Just passing by once, I felt there was something below. So I dug there a little and indeed unearthed the wooden box.”

Ye Qing was increasingly surprised; what could make Broom Star feel that way? This child was astonishing; pinpointing Gold Silk Armor with mere intuition?

”Where is the wooden box now?” Ye Qing asked quickly.

”Look, it’s over there.” Broom Star pointed casually, and Ye Qing turned to see. Sure enough, in the storage compartment was the wooden box. And it indeed was the wooden box containing the Gold Silk Armor!

Ye Qing rushed over, picked up the wooden box for a glance, and everything was as before; the Gold Silk Armor was still locked inside. This wooden box was filled with those strange symbols — exactly the ones Broom Star drew outside. Ye Qing had seen these symbols before, so when he saw Broom Star draw them this afternoon, they appeared very familiar.

Ye Qing placed the wooden box in front of Broom Star and asked, ”Do you… do you really understand these writings inside?”

”I understand part of them.” Broom Star said, ”About half, maybe.”

”Which part?” Ye Qing perked up and said, ”Can you translate the characters you understand for me? I want to see what they mean.”

”The writings here are quite sparse. The part I understand and the part I don’t have gaps in between, so the exact meaning isn’t clear.” Broom Star said, ”I can only roughly translate part of it. This portion seems to inform family descendants that when the Era of the Turmoil of the Three Stars of Sirius arrives, they can use this Gold Silk Armor to find the burial site of someone named Guiguzi. If they can locate this site, the family may rise again and even conquer Fusang Country, establishing a nation in Fusang.”

”What?” Ye Qing’s expression changed. The translation Broom Star provided differed completely from the translation given by Netherworld Taoist. In other words, the writings Broom Star understood were entirely different from those Netherworld Taoist did.

Netherworld Taoist’s understood part was Taoist Incantation, while Broom Star’s differing part suggested he knew the Buddhist Texts inside!

Ye Qing remembered that Netherworld Taoist mentioned Buddhist Texts and Taoist Incantations couldn’t be comprehended solely through training; they required a person with Wisdom Root to understand. This implies, does Broom Star have Wisdom Root in Buddhism?
